Face à une pression médiatique qui le place comme un film ambitieux de science-fiction à la française, Mars express ne fléchit pas et propose durant 1h25, une sublime animation au service d’une œuvre saisissante. Un film Cyberpunk qui puise dans une pop culture de la science-fiction et porte un regard sur un futur cyber industriel.
En 2200, sur Terre, la détective privée Aline Ruby enquête avec Carlos Rivera, son équipier androïde, sur une célèbre Hackeuse. De retour chez eux, sur la planète Noctis, une nouvelle enquête, va les mener jusque dans le bas-fond de Noctis.
Le ton est donné dès la première scène, Marx Express n’est pas un film d’animation pour enfant et tend à se placer comme un film noir de science-fiction. Une ambition cinématographique portée par un excellent travail d’animation. Un dessin qui convoque à la fois l’Anime avec Ghost In the Shell et une pâte française plus onirique avec l’univers de Moebius. Dans ce mélange du trait au service d’une histoire anticipatrice, Jérémie Perrin et les 5 studios français d’animation mobilisés sur le film nous offre une merveille d’animation à la croisée des genres.
Marx Express est un film policier avec une technologie omniprésente, mais jamais étouffante. Une ambiance cybernétique au service d’un univers précis et consciencieusement pensé. Si la trame déjà vue du libre arbitre androïde évoque assurément l’univers d’Asimov et ses nombreuses adaptations dont le film I robot, Mars Express trace sa propre route et offre un film au divertissement et à la tension indéniable.
Connu pour LastMan, Jérémie Perrin s’affirme ici avec son premier film comme une force du cinéma d’animation. Un premier film marquant qui saura captiver toutes les générations.

In 2200, on Earth, private detective Aline Ruby and her android partner Carlos Rivera investigate a notorious hacker. Back home on the planet Mars, a new investigation takes them to the underworld of the capital Noctis.
The tone is set from the very first scene: “Mars Express” is not an animated film for children, and aims to be a science-fiction film noir. This cinematic ambition is driven by excellent animation. The artwork is reminiscent of both the anime of “Ghost in the Shell” and the more dreamlike French style of “Moebius”. Jérémie Perrin and the five French animation studios involved in the film have created a marvel of animation at the crossroads of genres.
“Mars Express” is a crime film with technology that is omnipresent but never stifling. A cybernetic atmosphere set in a precise, carefully thought-out universe. While the familiar storyline of android free will certainly evokes the world of Asimov and his many adaptations, including the film “I Robot”, “Mars Express” charts its own course, offering a film of undeniable entertainment and tension.
Best known for “Lastman”, Jérémie Périn has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in his first animated film. A striking debut that will captivate all generations.
