A whole neighborhood that simply vanishes from the map and from time. A family in crisis trying to figure itself out. And dinosaurs thrilled to have something new on the menu.
This is David Robert Mitchell’s new, rather zany adventure film, in which Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor’s family finds itself living alongside our furry friends from the Cretaceous period. Set in a very Spielberg-esque universe, this “Jurassic Neighborhood” offers both thrilling moments of tension and terror, as well as more comical or surprising ones that make it far more enjoyable than the recent installments of the legendary franchise. With its stunning visual effects and its compelling immersion in this surreal 1980s reality, the plot does a good job of developing the characters’ reactions, interactions, and feelings to keep us on the edge of our seats throughout, even during its more ridiculous moments.
To put it in paradoxically simple terms: it’s not really a good movie, but it’s really good!
