Plus gros succès au box-office mondial avec $ 2.7 milliards, pionnier de la mocap, et catalyseur de la 3D au cinéma … Que dire de plus ?

Véritable phénomène à sa sortie en 2009, le film nous transportait sur la lune Pandora entre impérialisme, colonialisme et déforestation avec ses humains confrontés au peuple autochtone des Na’vi, ces grandes créatures bleues jouées par des acteurs tout en costume remodelé en imageries de synthèse. James Cameron réussissait alors l’incroyable pari de porter ce monde à l’écran pour le plus grand bonheur de nos sens d’émerveillement.

De retour au cinéma pour une durée limitée, « Avatar » a été remastérisé en excellente qualité 4K et HDR (non il ne s’agit pas ici d’une habilitation à diriger des doctorats mais bien d’une imagerie à haute gamme dynamique qui donne au film une plus grande variété de nuances dans les balances de couleur et donc accentue la profondeur de l’image). Il est de plus disponible en formats 2D et 3D, mais attention aux choix proposés par vos cinémas locaux.

C’est une occasion à ne pas manquer pour découvrir ou redécouvrir cette claque visuelle clairement destinée à faire monter l’engouement avant la sortie de la première suite de cette longue saga attendue depuis déjà dix ans (et en attendant toujours les trois autres) en décembre prochain en guise de cadeau de Noël ; d’autant que des extraits inédits d’Avatar 2 se cachent à la fin du générique !

A huge phenomenon when it was released in 2009, the film took us to the Pandora moon between imperialism, colonialism and deforestation with its humans facing the indigenous people of the Na’vi, these tall blue creatures played by actors all in suits remodeled in computer generated imagery. James Cameron succeeded in bringing this world to the screen for the greatest delight of our senses of wonder.

Back in theaters for a limited time, “Avatar” has been remastered in top quality with 4K and HDR (the high dynamic range imagery gives the film a greater variety of nuances in the color balance and thus enhances the depth of the frame). It is also available in 2D and 3D formats, but check the options available at your local theaters.

This is a great opportunity to discover or rediscover this visual sensation, which is clearly intended to raise the hype before the release of the first sequel of this long-awaited saga (while still waiting for the other three) next December as an early Christmas present ; especially since some unreleased footage from Avatar 2 can be found at the end of the credits!
