“Ainsi s’éteint la liberté, sous une pluie d’applaudissements”. Si ça vous rappelle l’inauguration du second mandat de Donald Trump, vous pouvez retourner voir ce film historique sur le déclin du pouvoir républicain américain réalisé par George Lucas en 2005. Il signait alors le point culminant de sa tragédie shakespearienne aux airs de mythologies antiques futuristes. Si la trame peut apparaître quelque peu elliptique avec des dialogues rarement fins, « La Revanche des Sith » s’impose comme une véritable expérience de cinéma, un point d’orgue nostalgique pour toute une génération, un bouquet final sans temps mort véritable feu d’artifice aux spirales d’orages guerriers. Historique. Mais c’est donc aussi un film au message politique souligné qui résonne aujourd’hui particulièrement au sein de la plus grande démocratie fascisante du monde avec son intrigue d’une noirceur extrême qui rend les protagonistes à leur statut de vulgaire pion sur un échiquier incommensurable et qui joue d’une manipulation de tentative d’assassinat pour imposer “un nouvel Empire pour une société fondée sur le profit, l’ordre et la sécurité” …

If this reminds you of Donald Trump’s second term inaugural address, you can go back and watch this historical film about the fall of American Republican power, directed by George Lucas in 2005. It was then the culmination of his Shakespearean tragedy of futuristic ancient mythology. While the storyline may seem a bit rushed, with very few sharp dialogue, “Revenge of the Sith” stands out as a true cinematic experience, a nostalgic climax for an entire generation, a finale with no downtime, a real firework display of spiraling warrior storms. It is simply historic. But it’s also a film with a strong political message that resonates today, particularly in the world’s largest increasingly fascist democracy, with its extremely dark plot that relegates the protagonists to their status of mere pawns on a larger-than-life chess game, manipulating an assassination attempt to enforce “a new Empire for a profit-driven, safe and secure society” …
