Pour son premier film, le réalisateur Edouard Bergeon n’a pas choisi de s’attaquer à un petit chantier : la difficulté du monde agricole voire son impossibilité. Plus qu’un chantier et un combat, il s’agit de l’histoire d’une vie pour Edouard Bergeon qui raconte en fait l’histoire de sa famille, son histoire. Le personnage principal, un chef d’exploitation brillamment interprété par Guillaume Canet, se trouve être son père. Si les noms sont changés, l’amour pour sa famille est bien présent transportée avec justesse par l’ensemble des acteurs. Le film décrit bien ce monde aux engrenages douloureux où les agriculteurs s’endettent jusqu’au cou et ne parviennent pas à survivre. Si le jeu est remarquable, il est également accompagné de quelques plans sublimes sur le paysage de campagne à perte de vue. Un film puissant et important pour notre société française actuelle et qui ne peut laisser indifférent. A voir absolument !

For his first feature film, director Edouard Bergeon did not choose to tackle a small issue: the difficulty of the agricultural world or even its impossibility. More than an issue and a battle, it is the story of a life for Edouard Bergeon, who in fact tells the story of his family, his story. The main character, a farm manager brilliantly played by Guillaume Canet, happens to be his father. If the names are changed, the love for his family is very much alive and well conveyed with accuracy by all the actors. The film describes this world of painful gears where farmers are up to their necks in debt and unable to survive. If the performances are remarkable, they’re also enhanced by some sublime shots of the countryside as far as the eye can see. A powerful and important film for our current French society and which cannot leave anyone unmoved. A must see!
