En quelques mots (salés) :
Si « Brave New World » est officiellement un ‘Captain America’, c’est en fait à la fois une suite directe de la série « Falcon & The Winter Soldier » et du second film du MCU « L’Incroyable Hulk » qui date donc de 2008, ainsi qu’une suite indirecte du film « Les Eternels ». Encore une fois ça fait un peu beaucoup narrativement et ça se voit au générique avec pas moins de cinq scénaristes pour écrire, effacer et encore réécrire l’intrigue d’un film qui se perd complètement. C’est sensé être un thriller politique au cœur duquel les États-Unis sont dorénavant représentés par un héros noir, mais rien de tout ça n’est vraiment abordé au profit de la manipulation du nouveau président par un mystérieux méchant sans envergure. En somme, le titre n’est pas justifié, la trame politique est ridicule, le contexte militaire absurde, l’intrigue banale comme jamais, la musique inadéquate, la réalisation fade, les caméos inutiles, et les dialogues d’une pauvreté abyssale autant dans leur qualité pure et explicative (avec beaucoup trop de scènes d’exposition) que dans le contexte même du MCU (avec des personnages presque incohérents). Bref, c’est tout simplement un mauvais film, point final. Et le seul espoir à l’horizon est qu’il s’agisse du dernier projet Marvel qui date de l’ère Chapek chez Disney ! En sachant que le PDG Bob Iger a ensuite redonné plus de libertés aux producteurs des studios comme Kevin Feige, on est en droit d’espérer que les prochains projets réhaussent le niveau …

While “Brave New World” is officially a “Captain America”, it is in fact both a direct sequel to the “Falcon & The Winter Soldier” series and the second MCU film, “The Incredible Hulk”, from 2008, as well as an indirect sequel to the “Eternals” movie. Once again, it’s a bit much narratively speaking, and it clearly comes across in the credits, with no fewer than five screenwriters writing, deleting and rewriting yet again the plot of a film that completely falls by the wayside. It’s meant to be a political thriller at the heart of which the U.S. are now embodied by a black hero, but none of this is really dealt with in favor of the manipulation of the new president by a mysterious and insignificant villain. In short, the title is not warranted, the political plot is ridiculous, the military context preposterous, the plot banal as ever, the music inadequate, the direction dull, the cameos useless, and the dialogue absolutely pathetic both in its pure, explanatory quality (with far too many exposition scenes) and in the context of the MCU itself (with almost incoherent characters). In other words, it’s simply a bad movie, period. And the only hope left is that this is the last Marvel project from the Chapek era at Disney! Knowing that CEO Bob Iger has since given back more creative freedom to studio producers like Kevin Feige, we can only hope that future projects will raise the bar …
