Vous avez tous déjà vu une armure mandalorienne. Vous savez, la très distinguée armure que portent Jango et Boba Fett dans les films de la saga Star Wars. La première série Star Wars en live-action « The Mandalorian » met ainsi en scène un mandalorien appartenant à une guilde de chasseurs de primes évoluant dans un monde sans foi ni loi cinq après la chute de l’empire et la bataille d’Endor. La nouvelle série, écrite par Jon Favreau et avec Pedro Pascal dans le rôle-titre, s’impose d’ores et déjà chez les fans comme la meilleure réalisation Star Wars par Disney. Il s’agit d’un véritable western dans une galaxie lointaine, très lointaine où l’opposition entre le bien et le mal est bien moins claire avec des personnages plus sombres, plus violents et plus nuancés.
Nous sommes actuellement à la moitié de la première saison diffusée sur Disney + (la seconde étant déjà en tournage) avec le cinquième épisode disponible dès aujourd’hui. Dès les premiers épisodes, la musique et l’ambiance nous renvoient directement au far-West avec cet homme sans nom traquant sa proie. Aussi bien le look que l’esprit mandalorien est extrêmement bien rendu et les combats s’imprègnent également du style western. Si dans le premier épisode, notre Mandalorien partait à la recherche d’une cible, l’épisode deux l’oblige à aller d’un point A à un point B en subissant diverses attaques d’indiens et l’épisode suivant conclue logiquement avec le règlement de compte à Ok Corral et formidable plongeon dans la culture de la tribu mandalorienne « This is the way ». L’épisode 4 rend quant à lui hommage à un autre style du genre avec la défense d’un village en hommage à Akari Kurosawa (tout comme l’épisode « Bounty Hunters » dans Clone Wars) et donc logiquement dans les westerns, au célèbre « Sept Mercenaires » de John Sturges.
Enfin, concernant le contexte chronologique Star Wars, l’époque post-impériale est inédite à l’écran avec une utilisation très intéressante des armures de stormtrooper, deathtrooper, du beskar ou encore d’un TR-TT filmé tel un monstre, symbole des vestiges impériaux.
En somme, une série que vous pouvez regarder sans avoir vu le moindre film Star Wars et que vous apprécierez encore plus en ayant vu les films & séries.

You’ve all seen Mandalorian armor before. You know, the very distinctive armor Jango and Boba Fett wear in the Star Wars saga movies. The first live-action Star Wars series « The Mandalorian » features a Mandalorian part of a guild of bounty hunters operating in a lawless world five years after the fall of the empire and the battle of Endor. The new series, written by Jon Favreau and with Pedro Pascal in the lead part, has already earned fans’ attention as the best Star Wars production by Disney. It is a true western in a galaxy far, far away, where the opposition between good and evil is much less clear with darker, more violent and more nuanced characters.
We are currently in the middle of the first season on Disney + (the second one is already being shot) with the fifth episode available today. From the very first episodes, the music and vibe are a direct reminder of the Far West with this nameless man stalking his prey. Both the look and the Mandalorian spirit are extremely well captured and the fights are also imbued with the Western style. If in the first episode, our Mandalorian went in search of a target, episode two forces him to go from point A to point B under various Indian attacks and the next episode logically concludes with the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and a wonderful dive into the culture of the Mandalorian tribe « This is the way ». As for episode 4, it pays tribute to another style of the genre with the protection of a village in tribute to Akari Kurosawa (just like the episode « Bounty Hunters » in Clone Wars) and therefore logically in the westerns, to John Sturges’ famous « The Magnificent Seven ».
Finally, concerning the Star Wars chronological context, the post-imperial era is unprecedented on screen with a very interesting use of the armors of stormtrooper,deathtrooper, beskar or even an AT-ST filmed like a monster, symbolizing of the imperial remnant.
In other words, a series that you can watch without having seen any Star Wars movies before and that you will enjoy even more after having seen the movies & series.
