En quelques mots :
La mission est simple : recruter une star du cinéma dans une opération d’infiltration lorsque la vente d’une nouvelle technologie d’arme mortelle menace de perturber l’ordre mondial. Avec un tel synopsis, Guy Ritchie annonce directement la couleur de ses récents thrillers d’action tournés au comique dans un savoureux mélange d’intrigue dramatique et de ton décalé dont « Code UNCLE » et « The Gentleman » font partie. Il retrouve pour l’occasion Jason Statham (Snatch ; Un homme en colère) et Hugh Grant aux côtés du duo Aubrey Plaza et Josh Hartnett.
Mais si « Ruse de guerre » a de bons moments, Guy Ritchie semble ne pas retrouver sa précédente formule et déçoit quelque peu avec une intrigue à la « Mission impossible » dont les décalages comiques fonctionnent moins bien que prévu. Reste un bon divertissement qui s’accommode finalement (et malheureusement) plutôt bien d’une sortie directement en VOD sur Amazon Prime Video en France.

With such a premise, Guy Ritchie directly sets the tone of his recent action thrillers turned to comic relief in a delightful mix of dramatic storyline and offbeat tone, including “The Man from UNCLE” and “The Gentleman”. For the occasion, he reunites with Jason Statham (Snatch; Wrath of Man) and Hugh Grant alongside the Aubrey Plaza and Josh Hartnett duo.
But if “Ruse de guerre” has some good moments, Guy Ritchie does not seem to retrieve his previous formula and disappoints somewhat with a plot a la “Mission Impossible” whose funny twists work less than expected. Still, it is a good entertainment that ultimately (and unfortunately) fits rather well with a direct VOD release on Amazon Prime Video as it was in France.
