C’est avec « Sibyl » que la compétition officielle du Festival de Cannes se conclut. C’est un film qui dresse le magnifique portrait d’une femme, qui après avoir délaissé l’écriture à la psychanalyse se retrouve happé par cette envie d’écrire, une envie qui va faire surgir les peines et les remords du passé. Elle va trouver son inspiration dans la détresse d’une patiente Margot, une actrice en plein tournage, enceinte de l’acteur principal, qui n’est autre que le compagnon de la réalisatrice. Dans cette trame narrative Justine Triet a écrit ses personnages avec justesses, de leurs relations à leurs vices sans oublier leurs pulsions. Le récit est sans cesse ponctué de souvenirs qui dévoile silencieusement le passé d’une femme, incarné avec grandeur par Virginie Efira. C’est un personnage fort qui se livre à nous sans aucune pudeur. Un film que l’on ne saurait pas définir, tant la frontière est fragile entre comédie et drame. Un film dont les récits se rencontrent autour d’un personnage, un personnage à l’image d’un volcan, décor d’un tournage infernal.

She will find her inspiration in the distress of a patient Margot, an actress in the middle of a film shoot, pregnant by the main actor, who is none other than the director’s partner. In this narrative plot, Justine Triet has written her characters with accuracy, from their relationships to their flaws without forgetting their impulses. The story is constantly punctuated by memories that silently reveal a woman’s past, embodied with greatness by Virginie Efira. She is a strong character who surrenders herself to us without any shame. A film that cannot be defined, as the frontier between comedy and drama is so thin. This is a film whose stories meet around a character, a character in the shape of a volcano, set in a hellish setting.
