Envie d’un animé bon délire ? « Spy x Family Code : White » est fait pour vous. Adaptation au cinéma de la saga à la fois déjantée et prenante « Spy x Family » (qui connaît déjà deux saisons disponibles sur plusieurs plates-formes), le long-métrage propose ici une sous-intrigue supplémentaire à son univers, et reste fidèle à son ton décalé et chtarbé.
Le synopsis : dans un monde bipolaire et au fragile équilibre, la famille Forger dénote quelque peu de par ses non-dits. Le père, Loid, est un espion chargé d’infiltrer le gouvernement du pays où il mène officiellement une vie de psychiatre. La mère, Yor, qui a épousé Loid par un mariage arrangé, est une redoutable tueuse à gages travaillant de jour pour l’administration. Enfin, la fille, Anya, est une orpheline adoptée par le couple dont les membres ne savent rien l’un de l’autre – mais Anya, elle, sait tout : elle est télépathe.
Particulièrement comiques avec tout de même un brin de sérieux, la saga comme le film constituent des bouffées d’oxygène dans un contexte d’hyper-médiatisation des conflits actuels. « Spy x Family » reprend ainsi les codes des romans d’espionnage avec toutefois un ton plus léger et des passages exagérément drôles – parce que souvent traités avec le regard d’Anya, cette fillette beaucoup trop turbulente pour la famille qu’elle a intégrée. Les nombreux et haletants changements d’ambiance sont aussi visuels, avec des dessins, des couleurs, des personnages variant selon les scènes – mention spéciale pour la “montée au paradis” qu’imagine Anya ! En ressort un animé hilarant et non dénué de fond, formant une ode au pacifisme, mais interrogeant aussi et surtout le tiraillement entre attachement et intérêt personnel dans les relations humaines. « Spy x Family Code : White », qui est une jolie mise en bouche du manga éponyme, est ainsi à déguster sans modération – comme le “meremere” dont les Forger doivent trouver la recette.

Here’s the deal: in a bipolar world of fragile equilibrium, the Forger family’s unspoken nature sets them apart. The father, Loid, is a spy tasked with infiltrating the country’s government, where he officially leads the life of a psychiatrist. The mother, Yor, who married Loid in an arranged marriage, is a formidable contract killer who works for the administration during the day. Finally, the daughter, Anya, is an orphan adopted by the couple, who know nothing about each other – but Anya knows everything: she’s a telepath.
Particularly funny, yet with a touch of gravitas, both the saga and the film provide a breath of fresh air in today’s highly publicized conflicts. “Spy x Family” takes up the codes of spy novels, but with a lighter tone and some excessively hilarious bits – because they’re often told through the eyes of Anya, the little girl who’s far too turbulent for the family she’s become part of. The many thrilling changes of mood are also visual, with drawings, colors and characters shifting from scene to scene – especially Anya’s imagined « ascent to paradise »! The result is a thoroughly entertaining anime with plenty of substance, creating an ode to pacifism but also, and above all, questioning the tension between attachment and self-interest in human relationships. “Spy x Family Code: White”, which is an appetizer to the manga of the same name, is to be enjoyed unabashedly – like the « meremere » for which the Forgers must find the recipe.
