En quelques mots :
Ce nouvel opus dans la famille des super-héros de la maison DC met en scène un antihéros d’origine antique et aux pouvoirs divins animé par un désir de vengeance meurtrier face à un peuple asservi. Projet porté par Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson depuis maintenant plus de dix ans, et réalisé par Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise), « Black Adam » n’est finalement qu’un film de super-héros générique de plus avec des archétypes conventionnels à souhait et une intrigue manquant cruellement d’épaisseur et de logique. S’il est néanmoins parsemé de bons moments grâce notamment aux performances de Pierce Brosnan et Sarah Shahi, à son ton parfois décalé et à ses clins d’œil au cinéma de Sergio Leone, dans l’ensemble le film reste très décevant. Seul espoir à l’horizon : le retour tant attendu d’une figure emblématique de l’univers …

« Black Adam » est le nouveau film de héros DC, on y découvre l’origine du Champion Teth-Adam. De plus, plusieurs autres héros comme Hawkman, Dr. Fate ou encore Atom Smasher nous sont présentés. Le film propose ainsi des scènes palpitantes et amusantes, mais s’égare dans une histoire qui sonne un peu creux. On ne connait finalement que peu les motivations des antagonistes de « l’intergang » par exemple. Les héros de la Justice Society sont certes introduits mais leur rôle dans l’histoire est questionnable. Au final il tombera sûrement dans la catégorie des films vus et sympas mais pas à revoir. Revoyez plutôt « The Batman » (2022) ou allez prochainement voir « Black Panther : Wakanda Forever » pour profiter de films de comics de qualité.
PS : le fait le plus marquant fut définitivement ma gaffe où j’ai renversé tous les M&M’s en plein prologue !

A project led by Dwayne « The Rock » Johnson for more than ten years now, and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise), “Black Adam” is ultimately just another generic superhero movie with conventional archetypes and a plot sorely lacking in depth and coherence. If it is nevertheless filled with good moments thanks to Pierce Brosnan and Sarah Shahi’s performances, to its sometimes offbeat tone and to its nods to Sergio Leone’s cinema, all in all the film remains very disappointing. The only hope on the horizon is the long-awaited return of an emblematic figure of the universe …

The new DC hero’s movie “Black Adam”, reveals the origin of the Champion Teth-Adam. In addition, several other heroes like Hawkman, Dr. Fate or Atom Smasher are also introduced. The movie offers some exciting and funny scenes, but gets lost in a story that feels a bit hollow. We don’t really know the motivations of the antagonists of the « intergang » for example. The heroes of the Justice Society are certainly presented but their role in the story is questionable. In the end it will surely fall into the category of movies seen and enjoyed but not to be revisited. Instead, watch “The Batman” (2022) again or go see “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soon to enjoy quality comic book movies.
PS: the most memorable moment was definitely when I spilled all the M&M’s in the midst of the prologue!
