La s\u00e9rie produite par le duo Jonathan Nolan &amp; Lisa Joy (Westworld) nous plonge donc dans cet univers r\u00e9trofuturiste post-apocalyptique deux si\u00e8cles apr\u00e8s une terrible catastrophe nucl\u00e9aire en plein contexte de guerre froide et d\u2019anti-communisme aux USA, ayant pouss\u00e9 les privil\u00e9gi\u00e9s de ce monde \u00e0 se r\u00e9fugier dans des bunkers souterrains pour y conserver les valeurs de l\u2019humanit\u00e9. A la surface, les descendants des plus d\u00e9munis vivent dans un monde d\u00e9vast\u00e9, violent et des plus \u00e9tranges.<\/p><p>Entre science-fiction et western, la s\u00e9rie marie le s\u00e9rieux \u00e0 l\u2019humour et l\u2019\u00e9pique au grotesque. Les cocr\u00e9ateurs Geneva Robertson-Dworet et Graham Wagner ont en effet r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 conjuguer les th\u00e9matiques traditionnelles de l\u2019apocalypse postnucl\u00e9aire avec une interpr\u00e9tation ironique des ann\u00e9es 1950, et un style sanglant et l\u00e9ger \u2013 tout en diss\u00e9minant de nombreuses r\u00e9f\u00e9rences pour le plaisir des fans du jeu. Se d\u00e9roulant dans la chronologie canon des jeux, cette s\u00e9rie reste pourtant une histoire originale qui n\u2019adapte pas l\u2019intrigue de l\u2019un des jeux \u00ab Fallout \u00bb mais plut\u00f4t son cadre, pour \u00eatre appr\u00e9ci\u00e9e par tous. C\u2019est une nouvelle histoire qui d\u00e9veloppe cet univers \u00e0 travers un nouveau m\u00e9dium et appara\u00eet donc comme une extension des jeux tout en y restant fid\u00e8le (ce que n\u2019a pas r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 faire par exemple \u00ab Halo \u00bb, une autre s\u00e9rie SF adapt\u00e9e d\u2019une licence vid\u00e9oludique). C\u2019est ind\u00e9niablement une adaptation extr\u00eamement bien pens\u00e9e \u2026 mais pas n\u00e9cessairement une excellente s\u00e9rie en soi.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-24915 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Snapshot_1005-e1765151171178.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1490\" height=\"770\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Snapshot_1005-e1765151171178.png 1490w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Snapshot_1005-e1765151171178-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Snapshot_1005-e1765151171178-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Snapshot_1005-e1765151171178-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1490px) 100vw, 1490px\" \/><\/p><p>Le sc\u00e9nario suit trois personnages principaux, une fille issue de la belle vie na\u00efve, collective, modeste et toute en politesse souterraine des bunkers\u00a0; un jeune aspirant soldat d\u2019une Confr\u00e9rie moyen\u00e2geuse quelque part entre une arm\u00e9e et une religion\u00a0; et une goule, \u00e0 savoir un humain irradi\u00e9, mutant et survivant des ann\u00e9es 1950. Le tout entrecoup\u00e9 de flashbacks explorant l\u2019av\u00e8nement de la catastrophe nucl\u00e9aire tel une \u00e9nigme au contexte anti-communiste soulign\u00e9 mais finalement peu d\u00e9velopp\u00e9. Con\u00e7ue quelque peu comme une aventure de RPG, la s\u00e9rie embarque ses trois protagonistes dans une intrigue qui introduit toujours plus de questions (un processus qui fonctionnait tr\u00e8s bien dans \u00ab\u00a0Westworld\u00a0\u00bb) mais malheureusement sans que les r\u00e9ponses glan\u00e9es sur la route ne d\u00e9veloppent r\u00e9ellement les personnages. Le fait est que tout s\u2019encha\u00eene de mani\u00e8re m\u00e9canique pour aboutir \u00e0 de grosses r\u00e9v\u00e9lations ou des retournements de situation. Les personnages manquent alors de profondeur pour r\u00e9ellement s\u2019en tenir \u00e0 leurs motivations propres au gr\u00e9 de dialogues souvent assez creux.<\/p><p>Si \u00ab\u00a0Fallout\u00a0\u00bb n\u2019excelle pas tout \u00e0 fait sur le plan narratif \u2013 bien que certains myst\u00e8res soient plus passionnants que d\u2019autres, et que l\u2019ensemble r\u00e9ussisse \u00e0 nous mener au bout, avec une fin tr\u00e8s r\u00e9ussie \u2013, la s\u00e9rie s\u2019av\u00e8re cependant irr\u00e9prochable d\u2019un point de vue plus technique. L\u2019impressionnant budget d\u2019<em>Amazon<\/em> lui permet en effet d\u2019accomplir un gros travail soign\u00e9 sur les costumes \u2013 avec une armure T-60 cr\u00e9dible et coh\u00e9rente en combat par exemple \u2013, les designs, les maquillages, et les visuels\u00a0cr\u00e9ant une apocalypse tangible. Un environnement qui para\u00eet donc authentique, aussi gr\u00e2ce au casting avec notamment Walton Goggins qui tient parfaitement son double r\u00f4le aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s d\u2019Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten et Mois\u00e9s Arias.<\/p><p>Une s\u00e9rie tr\u00e8s bien faite, pas enti\u00e8rement captivante \u00e0 mon humble avis, mais qui aura su conqu\u00e9rir un public suffisamment important d\u00e8s ses deux premi\u00e8res semaines pour valider une seconde saison tr\u00e8s prochainement \u2026<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Rapha\u00ebl Sallenave<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-42480e6 elementor-widget__width-initial exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"42480e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><p>While video game adaptations for film or series seemed virtually impossible, over the last few years American studios seem to have finally found the right approach in some cases, such as Sonic, Mario, Pok\u00e9mon, or last year with the highly acclaimed <em>HBO<\/em> series \u201cThe Last of Us\u201d. <em>Amazon<\/em> has now got it right too, with this adaptation of the \u201cFallout\u201d universe, which in no way requires prior familiarity with the story or experience of the uchronic role-playing games developed by the <em>Bethesda<\/em> studio. Produced by the duo Jonathan Nolan &amp; Lisa Joy (Westworld), the series takes us into a retro-futuristic, post-apocalyptic universe two centuries after a catastrophic nuclear disaster, in the midst of the Cold War and anti-communism in the US, which drove the world&rsquo;s most fortunate to take shelter in underground vaults to safeguard humanity&rsquo;s values. On the surface, the descendants of the less fortunate live in a devastated, violent and utterly weird world.<\/p><p>Part sci-fi, part western, the series combines the serious with the humorous, and the epic with the grotesque. Co-creators Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner have successfully combined the traditional themes of the post-nuclear apocalypse with an ironic take on the 1950s, and a bloody yet light-hearted style \u2013 while at the same time spreading plenty of easter eggs for game fans. Set in the canonical timeline of the games, this series remains an original story that doesn&rsquo;t lean on any preexisting story of the \u201cFallout\u201d games, but rather its setting, so that it may appeal to all. It&rsquo;s a new story that enriches this universe through a new medium, and thus feels like an extension of the games while remaining true to them (something that \u201cHalo\u201d, another SF series adapted from a videogame license, failed to do). This is undeniably an extremely well-conceived adaptation&#8230; but not necessarily an outstanding series in its own right.<\/p><p>The script follows three main characters: a girl from the na\u00efve, communal, modest and polite underground life of the vaults; a young aspiring soldier from a medieval Brotherhood somewhere between an army and a religion; and a ghoul, i.e. an irradiated, mutated human survivor from the 1950s. All this is set against a backdrop of flashbacks exploring the advent of the nuclear disaster as an enigma with an underlined but ultimately underdeveloped anti-communist theme. Designed somewhat like an RPG adventure, the series takes its three protagonists through a plot that introduces ever more questions (a structure that worked very well in \u201cWestworld\u201d), but unfortunately without any real character development in the answers found along the way. In fact, everything just clicks together a bit too much like a clockwork, leading to big revelations or plot twists. As a result, the characters lack the depth to really stick to their own motivations, often in the midst of rather hollow dialogue.<\/p><p>So, \u201cFallout\u201d doesn&rsquo;t quite excel on the narrative side \u2013 although some mysteries are more exciting than others, and the series manages to take us through to the end, with a very good ending. However, from a more technical point of view, the series proves immaculate. <em>Amazon<\/em>&lsquo;s huge budget allows it to deliver outstanding work on costumes \u2013 with credible, combat-coherent T-60 armor, for example \u2013 designs, make-up and visuals creating a tangible apocalypse. The environment therefore feels authentic, thanks also to the cast, featuring Walton Goggins perfect in his dual role alongside Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten and Mois\u00e9s Arias.<\/p><p>This is a very well-crafted series, not entirely captivating in my humble opinion, but which has won over a substantial enough audience in its first two weeks to warrant a second season coming very
