\u00ab\u00a0<em>Yannick\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, Quentin Dupieux pr\u00e9sente \u00ab\u00a0<em>Daaaaaali\u00a0!\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, son dernier opus avec, une fois n\u2019est pas coutume, un casting XXL. Six \u201ca\u201d dans le titre comme le nombre d\u2019interpr\u00e8tes (Edouard Baer, Gilles Lellouche, Pio Marmai, Jonathan Cohen, Didier Flamand et Boris Gillot) de l\u2019excentrique et insaisissable peintre espagnol du si\u00e8cle dernier.<\/p><p>Ni biopic, ni parodie, Dupieux signe un nouvel inclassable. Difficile de qualifier ce film qui tend autant vers l\u2019hommage \u00e0 l\u2019artiste qu\u2019\u00e0 la satire. On nous emm\u00e8ne ici \u00e0 la crois\u00e9e des chemins, entre l\u2019interview d\u2019une journaliste (Ana\u00efs Demoustier) \u00e0 la peine, le r\u00eave d\u2019un pr\u00eatre qui se perd dans ses propres m\u00e9andres (le spectateur avec), et le quotidien tortur\u00e9 d\u2019un Salvador Dali loufoquement effray\u00e9 par le temps qui passe.<\/p><p>Obnubil\u00e9 par son image et toujours \u00e0 la recherche de l\u2019improbable, le Dali de Dupieux est finalement tr\u00e8s proche de l\u2019artiste que l\u2019on a connu au XX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. Ou plut\u00f4t, les Dali\u00a0! Car c\u2019est une petite ribambelle d\u2019acteurs qui se succ\u00e8dent pour l\u2019incarner. Leur performance porte d\u2019ailleurs le film\u00a0! On vous encourage \u00e0 visionner des extraits d\u2019interview du vrai Salvador Dali pour vous rendre compte de la justesse d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation des com\u00e9diens (mentions sp\u00e9ciales aux tr\u00e8s remarqu\u00e9s et au-dessus de la m\u00eal\u00e9e Edouard Baer et Jonathan Cohen).<\/p><p>Ne cherchez pas de sens, de rationalit\u00e9 ni d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat historique \u00e0 ce film. S\u2019il peut appara\u00eetre un fil conducteur, ce n\u2019est pas l\u00e0 l\u2019essentiel. Et c\u2019est bien l\u00e0 le g\u00e9nie de Dupieux qui ressurgit. En une heure et vingt minutes intelligemment remplies, excellement port\u00e9es par une bande-originale sign\u00e9e Thomas Bangalter (rien que \u00e7a), le r\u00e9alisateur parisien nous montre ce qu\u2019est le vrai cin\u00e9ma, dans toutes ses dimensions. Celui pour lequel on a envie d\u2019aller en salles, celui qui est \u00e0 l\u2019avant-garde, celui qui propose et qui ne s\u2019explique pas toujours, laissant libre court \u00e0 notre imagination de faire le reste.<\/p><p>Quentin Dupieux s\u2019impose avec \u00ab\u00a0<em>Daaaaaali\u00a0!\u00a0\u00bb<\/em> comme l\u2019un des r\u00e9alisateurs les plus incontournables de notre \u00e9poque. M\u00eame s\u2019il garde un lot de com\u00e9diens fid\u00e8les, tout le monde semble vouloir travailler avec lui. On n\u2019a d\u2019ailleurs probablement pas fini de le suivre en salles, vu sa production actuelle fulgurante. Six \u00ab\u00a0A\u00a0\u00bbs in the title for the six actors (Edouard Baer, Gilles Lellouche, Pio Marmai, Jonathan Cohen, Didier Flamand, and Boris Gillot) that play the eccentric, elusive Spanish painter of the last century.<\/p><p>Neither biopic nor parody, Dupieux delivers another unclassifiable work. It&rsquo;s hard to describe this film, which is as much a tribute to the artist as a satire. We&rsquo;re taken to a crossroads, between an interview with a struggling journalist (Ana\u00efs Demoustier), the dream of a priest who loses himself in his own meanderings (and the viewer along with him), and the tortured daily life of a Salvador Dali who is weirdly terrified by the passing of time.<\/p><p>Obsessed with his own image and always on the lookout for the improbable, Dupieux&rsquo;s Dali is ultimately very close to the artist we knew in the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century. Or rather, the multiple Dalis as it&rsquo;s a whole host of actors who play him one after the other. And their performances really bring the film to life! We suggest watching excerpts from interviews with the real Salvador Dali to appreciate the precision of the actors&rsquo; portrayals (with special mention for the outstanding Edouard Baer and Jonathan Cohen).<\/p><p>Don&rsquo;t look for any kind of meaning, rationale or historical relevance in this film. It may appear to have a common thread, but that&rsquo;s not the point. And that&rsquo;s where Dupieux&rsquo;s genius comes into its own. In one hour and twenty minutes, intelligently packed and excellently supported by an original soundtrack by none other than Thomas Bangalter, the Parisian director shows us what real cinema is, in all its dimensions. The kind we want to go to the cinema for, the kind that is ahead of its time, the kind that offers something new and doesn&rsquo;t always explain itself, leaving our imagination free to do the rest.<\/p><p>With \u201cDaaaaaali!\u201d, Quentin Dupieux has established himself as one of the most exciting directors of our time. Although he keeps a loyal cast of actors, everyone seems to want to work with him. And we&rsquo;re probably not done watching him in theaters, given his current dazzling output.
