d\u00e9contenanc\u00e9\u00b7es, troubl\u00e9\u00b7es par un long-m\u00e9trage sorti en ce d\u00e9but d\u2019ann\u00e9e, allez voir \u00ab\u00a0Les Chambres rouges\u00a0\u00bb r\u00e9alis\u00e9 par Pascal Plante\u00a0; vous n\u2019en sortirez pas totalement indemnes. Mais pourquoi\u00a0? Justement, c\u2019est cette question qui va vous tourmenter tout au long du film, et m\u00eame apr\u00e8s\u2026<\/p><p>Nous voil\u00e0 donc \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, o\u00f9 l\u2019on suit le personnage \u00e9nigmatique de Kelly-Anne. Une femme taciturne et hypnotique, vivant perch\u00e9e dans les hauteurs d\u2019un gratte-ciel, et d\u00e9veloppant une macabre obsession pour une affaire judiciaire des plus sordides. Kelly-Anne a en effet une fascination morbide pour le tr\u00e8s m\u00e9diatis\u00e9 cas Ludovic Chevalier, accus\u00e9 des pires atrocit\u00e9s sur trois victimes\u2026<\/p><p>Nous happant d\u00e8s le d\u00e9but dans le c\u00f4t\u00e9 sinistre et du proc\u00e8s et de la passion de Kelly-Anne \u2013 notamment avec un long plan-s\u00e9quence dans le tribunal \u2013, \u00ab\u00a0Les Chambres rouges\u00a0\u00bb r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 nous \u00e9touffer par son ambiance particuli\u00e8rement malsaine. La musique indubitablement oppressante, les couleurs souvent terriblement grisonnantes et parfois effroyablement rougeoyantes, les regards puissamment per\u00e7ants contribuent \u00e0 un malaise \u00e9vident. L\u2019histoire, d\u00e9j\u00e0 gla\u00e7ante, est d\u2019autant plus d\u00e9rangeante qu\u2019elle reste sobre visuellement\u00a0: il n\u2019y a pas de voyeurisme. Au contraire, les contre-champs et surtout les hors-champs deviennent ainsi tout aussi importants que les focus sur les diff\u00e9rents protagonistes.<\/p><p>La performance de Juliette Gari\u00e9py rel\u00e8ve d\u2019ailleurs litt\u00e9ralement du sublime\u00a0: la froideur, la beaut\u00e9 et l\u2019intelligence de Kelly-Anne la font para\u00eetre bien plus vicieuse que folle, ce qui d\u00e9sar\u00e7onne autant le public que la d\u00e9routante anti-h\u00e9ro\u00efne Cl\u00e9mentine (Laurie Babin), elle aussi captiv\u00e9e par le cas Chevalier.<\/p><p>Toutefois, ce qui nous choque le plus dans \u00ab\u00a0Les Chambres rouges\u00a0\u00bb, ce n\u2019est pas tant Kelly-Anne, cette Lady of Shalott moderne enferm\u00e9e dans une tour avec une Gueni\u00e8vre virtuelle, mais plut\u00f4t la possibilit\u00e9 que ce genre de personne aux int\u00e9r\u00eats t\u00e9n\u00e9breux (et non syst\u00e9matiquement immoraux, par ailleurs) existe r\u00e9ellement dans notre monde farci de violence et d\u2019insanit\u00e9\u2026 Un film renversant, cauchemardesque, traumatisant.<\/p><p>Axel Chevalier<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-42480e6 elementor-widget__width-initial exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"42480e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><p>If you want to be unsettled, baffled, confused by a feature film released early this year, go watch \u201cRed Rooms\u201d directed by Pascal Plante; you won&rsquo;t leave completely unscathed. But why? That&rsquo;s the question that will torment you throughout the film, and even afterwards&#8230;<\/p><p>So here we are in Montreal, following the enigmatic character of Kelly-Anne. A taciturn, hypnotic woman living high up in a skyscraper, she develops a gruesome obsession with a sinister court case. Kelly-Anne has a morbid fascination for the high-profile Ludovic Chevalier case, accused of the worst atrocities against three victims&#8230;<\/p><p>From the outset, \u201cRed Rooms\u201d draws us into the sinister side of both the trial and Kelly-Anne&rsquo;s passion \u2013 particularly with a long uncut shot in the courtroom \u2013 and succeeds in keeping us gripped by its particularly unhealthy atmosphere. The unmistakably oppressive music, the often terribly graying and sometimes frighteningly glowing colors and the powerfully piercing glances all contribute to an obvious sense of unease. The story, already chilling, is all the more disturbing for its visual restraint: there&rsquo;s no voyeurism. On the contrary, counter-shots and, above all, off-screen elements become just as important as the focus on the various protagonists.<\/p><p>Juliette Gari\u00e9py&rsquo;s performance is literally sublime: Kelly-Anne&rsquo;s coldness, beauty and intelligence make her seem far more vicious than mad, which is just as disconcerting to the audience as the puzzling anti-heroine Cl\u00e9mentine (Laurie Babin), who is also captivated by the Chevalier case.<\/p><p>However, what shocks us most about \u201cRed Rooms\u201d is not so much Kelly-Anne, this modern Lady of Shalott locked in a tower with a virtual Guinevere, but rather the possibility that this kind of person with dark interests (and not systematically immoral, by the way) actually exists in our world stuffed with violence and insanity&#8230; A stunning, nightmarish, traumatizing film.<\/p><p>Axel
