Apr\u00e8s l\u2019Ombrie pour \u00ab Les Merveilles \u00bb (2014) et le Latium pour \u00ab Heureux comme Lazzaro \u00bb (2018), la r\u00e9alisatrice italienne nous emm\u00e8ne cette fois-ci dans l\u2019\u00c9trurie des ann\u00e9es 1980, o\u00f9 erre Arthur, un jeune arch\u00e9ologue en pleine crise existentielle.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Arthur, c\u2019est un Anglais aux origines myst\u00e9rieuses dont on sait seulement qu\u2019il sort de prison et qu\u2019il vit dans la mis\u00e8re hyper rurale de l\u2019Italie. Occupant un taudis au pied des murailles d\u2019un village, il peut n\u00e9anmoins compter sur la famille de sa d\u00e9funte compagne et sur ses amis. Car ce gal\u00e9rien poss\u00e8de un talent insoup\u00e7onn\u00e9 : c\u2019est un excellent sourcier, capable de d\u00e9nicher des tombes antiques qu\u2019il pille volontiers avec sa bande \u2013 c\u2019est un tombarolo. Mais ce gagne-pain ne r\u00e9sout pas ses probl\u00e8mes de c\u0153ur et d\u2019\u00e2me.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00ab La Chim\u00e8re \u00bb est un film \u00e0 la fois dense et l\u00e9ger : Alice Rohrwacher y propose avec fluidit\u00e9 diff\u00e9rentes clefs de lecture, notamment en jouant sur les changements de registre (du comique \u00e0 l\u2019onirique en passant par l\u2019absurde), sur les alternances de formats d\u2019image, et m\u00eame sur un multilinguisme impromptu et naturel. Les personnages eux-m\u00eames se r\u00e9v\u00e8lent authentiques et justes dans leurs actions et r\u00e9actions, nous invitant ainsi \u00e0 plonger dans leurs m\u00e9andres int\u00e9rieurs : ainsi de Pirro (Vincenzo Nemola) et son app\u00e2t du gain, d\u2019Italia (Carol Duarte) et son ind\u00e9pendance, et d\u2019Arthur (Josh O\u2019Connor) et sa qu\u00eate de sens.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Riche d\u2019un univers immersif et d\u2019une harmonie prismatique, le long-m\u00e9trage consiste en une fable merveilleuse et nostalgique d\u2019une \u00e9poque qui toutefois montre d\u00e9j\u00e0 des signes de d\u00e9cr\u00e9pitude \u2013 parce que rong\u00e9e par l\u2019avarice, la solitude, l\u2019oubli et l\u2019irrespect du pass\u00e9 (tant des vestiges \u00e9trusques que des histoires personnelles). \u00ab La Chim\u00e8re \u00bb comprend aussi des messages f\u00e9ministes et sugg\u00e8re po\u00e9tiquement une philosophie de vie qui se r\u00e9sume \u00e0 un fil rouge : savoir ce qui nous rend(ait) vraiment heureux. After Umbria for \u201cThe Wonders\u201d (2014) and Lazio for \u201cHappy as Lazzaro\u201d (2018), the Italian director takes us this time to 1980s Etruria, where Arthur, a young archaeologist in the midst of an existential crisis, wanders.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Arthur is an Englishman of mysterious origins, who we only know to be just out of prison and living in Italy&rsquo;s hyper-rural squalor. Living in a hovel beneath the walls of a village, he can nevertheless count on the family of his deceased partner and on his friends. For this galley-dweller possesses an unsuspected talent: he&rsquo;s an excellent dowser, capable of unearthing ancient tombs, which he gladly plunders with his gang \u2013 he&rsquo;s a tombarolo. But this livelihood doesn&rsquo;t solve his heart and soul issues.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u201cLa Chimera\u201d is both dense and light: Alice Rohrwacher smoothly offers us different keys to understanding the film, playing with shifts in tone (from comic to dreamlike to absurd), alternating aspect ratios, and even an unexpected, natural multilingualism. The characters themselves turn out to be authentic and accurate in their actions and reactions, inviting us to delve into their inner meanderings: thus Pirro (Vincenzo Nemola) and his greed, Italia (Carol Duarte) and her independence, and Arthur (Josh O&rsquo;Connor) and his quest for meaning.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Rich in immersive universe and prismatic harmony, the feature film is a wonderful, nostalgic fable of an age that is already showing signs of decay &#8211; eaten away by greed, loneliness, forgetfulness and disrespect for the past (both Etruscan relics and personal histories). \u201cLa Chimera\u201d also includes feminist themes and poetically suggests a philosophy of life that boils down to a common thread: knowing what makes us truly happy. Dopo l&rsquo;Umbria per \u00abLe meraviglie\u00bb (2014) ed il Lazio per \u00abLazzaro felice\u00bb (2018), la regista italiana ci porta questa volta nell&rsquo;Etruria degli anni &rsquo;80, dove girovaga Arthur, un giovane archeologo in piena crisi esistenziale.<\/p><p>Arthur, \u00e8 un Inglese dalle origine misteriose di cui si sa soltanto che \u00e8 appena uscito dal carcere e che vive nell&rsquo;estrema misera dell&rsquo;Italia rurale. Abitando in un tugurio ai piedi di un muro di cinta del paese, pu\u00f2 comunque contare sulla famiglia della sua defunta fidanzata e sui suoi amici. Perch\u00e9 questo galeotto possiede un talento insospettato: \u00e8 un eccelso rabdomante, capace di scoprire antiche tombe che lui e la sua banda volentieri saccheggiano\u2013\u00e8 un tombarolo. Ma questa attivit\u00e0 non risolve i suoi problemi di cuore e di anima.<\/p><p>\u00abLa Chimera\u00bb \u00e8 un film nello stesso tempo denso e leggero: Alice Rohrwacher ci propone con fluidit\u00e0 diverse interpretazioni, giocando con i cambi di registro (tra cui il comico, l&rsquo;onirico, l&rsquo;assurdo), con l&rsquo;alternanza dei formati di immagine, e perfino con un estemporaneo e naturale multilinguismo. I personaggi stessi si mostrano autentici e precisi nelle loro azioni e reazioni, invitandoci a addentrarci nei loro interiori meandri: citiamo Pirro (Vincenzo Nemola) e la sua cupidigia, Italia (Carol Duarte) e la sua indipendenza, ed ovviamente Arthur (Josh O&rsquo;Connor) e la sua ricerca di senso.<\/p><p>Ricco di un universo immersivo e di un&rsquo;armonia prismatica, il lungometraggio costituisce una favola meravigliosa e nostalgica di un&rsquo;epoca che tuttavia sta gi\u00e0 mostrando segni di decrepitezza\u2013perch\u00e9 afflitta da avidit\u00e0, solitudine, oblio e mancanza di rispetto per il passato (tanto per i resti etruschi quanto per le storie personali). \u00abLa Chimera\u00bb contiene altres\u00ec messaggi femministi e suggerisce poeticamente una filosofia di vita che si pu\u00f2 riassumere in un filo conduttore: sapere cosa ci rende(va) davvero felici.
