dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Huit mois apr\u00e8s la sortie du premier volet \u00ab D\u2019Artagnan \u00bb, Martin Bourboulon et les producteurs de chez Path\u00e9 concluent ce diptyque adapt\u00e9 du c\u00e9l\u00e8bre roman d\u2019Alexandre Dumas. On retrouve donc nos mousquetaires apr\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e9chec de l\u2019attentat visant le Roi dans un contexte d\u2019opposition entre factions catholiques et protestantes, laquelle serait soutenue par la couronne britannique. Au milieu de ces tensions politico-religieuses se trouvent deux personnages : D\u2019Artagnan parti \u00e0 la recherche de sa bien-aim\u00e9e Constance Bonacieux et la malicieuse Milady, espionne de Richelieu jouant double jeu avec tout le monde \u2026<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Ce second volet remplit ses objectifs de blockbuster \u00e0 la fran\u00e7aise avec une dimension \u00e9pique, des duels et des combats vari\u00e9s y compris le captivant si\u00e8ge de La Rochelle, de beaux plans et un rythme soutenu et prenant. C\u2019est un solide divertissement dont le r\u00e9cit riche en rebondissements ne tombe pas dans le manich\u00e9isme et se concentre plus sur le personnage de Milady auquel l\u2019ensorcelante Eva Green apporte un charme v\u00e9n\u00e9neux.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Oui mais voil\u00e0 il y avait dans \u00ab D\u2019Artagnan \u00bb un dosage particuli\u00e8rement r\u00e9ussi entre \u00e9pique, humour et \u00e9motions qui ne se retrouve pas ici. La faute en grande partie \u00e0 une intrigue surcharg\u00e9e qui aurait soit m\u00e9rit\u00e9 plus de temps soit d\u00fb \u00eatre r\u00e9duite car elle ne laisse tout simplement pas le temps aux personnages de vivre. R\u00e9sultat, ce n\u2019est pas que les acteurs jouent moins bien, c\u2019est juste que les personnages n\u2019ont pas le temps d\u2019exister, d\u2019\u00eatre incarn\u00e9s : ils ne servent que l\u2019intrigue et ses p\u00e9rip\u00e9ties au lieu d\u2019\u00eatre d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s par l\u2019intrigue. L\u2019exemple le plus criant est ainsi le personnage de Porthos qui n\u2019a presque aucune utilit\u00e9 dans l\u2019histoire de ce second volet. Alors oui, le sc\u00e9nario prend des libert\u00e9s dans l\u2019adaptation du roman pour d\u00e9velopper, humaniser et complexifier le personnage de Milady de Winter, mais cela se fait malheureusement au d\u00e9triment des autres figures de l\u2019histoire.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Romain Duris et Pio Marma\u00ef sont moins pr\u00e9sents et n\u2019ont qu\u2019un r\u00f4le annexe dans le d\u00e9roulement de l\u2019intrigue, de m\u00eame pour Vicky Krieps et Louis Garrel dont la relation royale int\u00e9ressante et comique reste pr\u00e9sente mais tr\u00e8s peu utilis\u00e9e. De plus le c\u0153ur du premier volet \u00e9tait bien la relation entre D\u2019Artagnan et Constance. Or, celle-ci ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 captur\u00e9e, le sc\u00e9nario fait le choix de ne presque pas la mettre en sc\u00e8ne compromettant une bonne partie de la dimension \u00e9motionnelle du film.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Enfin, si ce second volet p\u00e2tit surtout de la structure de son sc\u00e9nario et l\u2019\u00e9criture de ses personnages, le parti pris de la mise en sc\u00e8ne lors des s\u00e9quences d\u2019action reste handicapant. La cam\u00e9ra bouge en effet beaucoup avec des plans port\u00e9s tr\u00e8s proches, et m\u00eame si c\u2019\u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 le style du premier volet, dans la mesure o\u00f9 il y a cette fois plus de combattants dans les sc\u00e8nes d\u2019action, le r\u00e9sultat n\u2019en est que moins lisible. D\u2019autant que le dernier combat souffre d\u2019une chor\u00e9graphie et d\u2019un d\u00e9cor assez pauvres.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Bref, le premier \u00e9tait tellement une r\u00e9ussite dans son introduction des personnages et son dosage des tons, que ce second film d\u00e9\u00e7oit en se focalisant aveugl\u00e9ment sur les diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9tapes de son intrigue alors que celle-ci pourrait \u00eatre captivante en soi si elle laissait plus le temps \u00e0 ses personnages de respirer.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Rapha\u00ebl Sallenave<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-42480e6 elementor-widget__width-initial exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"42480e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Eight months after the release of the first \u201cD&rsquo;Artagnan\u201d installment, Martin Bourboulon and Path\u00e9&rsquo;s producers wrap up this two-part adaptation of Alexandre Dumas&rsquo; famous novel. The musketeers are once again back in action after the failed attempt on the King&rsquo;s life, amidst fierce opposition between Catholic and Protestant factions, with the latter allegedly backed by the British monarchy. Two characters stand in the middle of these politico-religious tensions: D&rsquo;Artagnan, searching for his beloved Constance Bonacieux, and the mischievous Milady, Richelieu&rsquo;s spy who plays double games with everyone&#8230;<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">This second part fulfills its objectives as a French blockbuster, with an epic dimension, a variety of duels and battles, including the captivating siege of La Rochelle, beautiful shots and a fast, gripping pace. This is solid entertainment, with a story full of twists and turns that doesn&rsquo;t fall into Manicheanism, and focuses more on the character of Milady, to whom the bewitching Eva Green brings a venomous spell.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Yes, but here&rsquo;s the thing: in \u201cD&rsquo;Artagnan\u201d, there was a particularly successful blend of epic, humor and emotion that&rsquo;s nowhere to be found here. This is largely due to an overloaded plot that either deserved more time or had to be scaled down, as it simply doesn&rsquo;t give the characters enough time to breathe. As a result, it&rsquo;s not that the actors don&rsquo;t play as well, it&rsquo;s just that the characters don&rsquo;t have time to exist, to be fleshed out: they only support the plot and its intricacies, rather than being developed by the plot. The most blatant example of this is the character of Porthos, who serves almost no purpose in the story of this second film. So, yes, the screenplay takes liberties with the novel&rsquo;s adaptation to develop, humanize and complexify the character of Milady de Winter, but unfortunately this is done at the expense of the other characters in the story.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Romain Duris and Pio Marma\u00ef are less present, and play only a minor role in the plot, as do Vicky Krieps and Louis Garrel, whose interesting and amusing royal relationship remains unchanged, but is hardly used at all. What&rsquo;s more, the heart of the first part was definitely the relationship between D&rsquo;Artagnan and Constance. Now that Constance has been captured, the script makes the choice of hardly featuring her at all, thus losing much of the film&rsquo;s emotional dimension.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Finally, while this second installment suffers mainly from the structure of its script and the writing of its characters, the choice of direction during the action sequences remains a limitation. The camera moves a lot, with close-up shots, and although this was already the style of the first movie, this time there are more combatants in the action scenes, making the whole thing less clear. All the more so as the last fight suffers from rather poor choreography and scenery.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">In short, the first film was so successful in its introduction of the characters and its balance of tones, that this second film disappoints by focusing blindly on the different stages of its plot, even though the latter could be captivating in its own right if it let its characters breathe.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Rapha\u00ebl Sallenave<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section
