Le r\u00e9alisateur iranien lui-m\u00eame r\u00e9fugi\u00e9 au Royaume-Uni depuis son enfance filme ainsi une protagoniste sujette \u00e0 la solitude sentimentale et aux insomnies, prise dans une vie plut\u00f4t triste et routini\u00e8re entre un foyer entour\u00e9 par la nostalgie et la monotonie d\u2019un travail r\u00e9p\u00e9titif.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Prix du jury au festival du cin\u00e9ma am\u00e9ricain de Deauville, \u00ab Fremont \u00bb oscille donc entre gravit\u00e9 et un humour pince-sans-rire principalement port\u00e9 par les s\u00e9quences chez le psy \u2013 superbement interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 par Gregg Turkington \u2013 dans une atmosph\u00e8re m\u00e9lancolique nous transportant entre les rencontres fortuites de la vie \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re de certains films de Jim Jarmusch ou encore du Finlandais Aki Kaurism\u00e4ki (r\u00e9cemment, \u00ab Les Feuilles Mortes). C\u2019est un film \u00e0 l\u2019humour doux-amer et au r\u00e9cit d\u00e9licat et attachant qui capte l\u2019humain dans un monde absurde. She lives among her exiled fellow Afghans in Fremont and takes refuge every day in San Francisco in another diaspora, the Chinese, where she works in a fortune cookie factory. This is the story of a woman who makes her own destiny with the meager resources at her disposal, and one day decides to send a special message in one of the cookies &#8230;<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">After \u201cLand\u201d (2018), which explored an Indian community in New Mexico, Babak Jalali once again focuses on a community on the margins of American society with this original depiction of exile in a disillusioned vision of the American dream and a occasionally ironic tone. The Iranian director, himself a refugee in the UK since childhood, captures a protagonist prone to sentimental loneliness and insomnia, caught up in a rather sad and routine life between a home shrouded in nostalgia and the monotony of repetitive labor.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Winner of the Jury Prize at the Deauville American Film Festival, \u201cFremont\u201d moves back and forth between gravity and deadpan humor, mainly driven by the sequences at the shrink&rsquo;s \u2013 wonderfully played by Gregg Turkington \u2013 in a melancholic mood leading us through life&rsquo;s chance encounters in the style of films by Jim Jarmusch or Finland&rsquo;s Aki Kaurism\u00e4ki (most recently, \u201cFallen Leaves\u201d). It&rsquo;s a movie with bittersweet humor and a delicate, endearing narrative that grasps the human element in an absurd world.
