Mais contrairement \u00e0 son ancien commandant, Frances Neagley, a une famille, une adresse, un boulot et un bureau. D\u00e9sormais d\u00e9tective priv\u00e9e \u00e0 Chicago, elle est pouss\u00e9e \u00e0 enqu\u00eater sur une secte agricole dirig\u00e9e par un gourou hippie au sourire trop grand pour \u00eatre honn\u00eate suite au suicide de son ami d\u2019enfance.<\/p><p>La s\u00e9rie avait fait le choix d\u2019adapter les romans dans un certain format auquel elle se tient de saison en saison, mais ici c\u2019est un sc\u00e9nario original justement \u00e9crit pour rentrer dans ce format \u00e0 la base con\u00e7u pour l\u2019adaptation des romans de Lee Child. Et (\u00e9tonnamment) \u00e7a marche\u00a0! C\u2019est \u00e9videmment coh\u00e9rent et proche du style de \u00ab\u00a0Reacher\u00a0\u00bb en conservant ses qualit\u00e9s de rythme sans temps mort, mais aussi certaines faiblesses comme une mise en sc\u00e8ne assez quelconque et des personnages \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9criture un peu facile, \u00e0 gros traits (dont le m\u00e9chant, comme souvent). N\u00e9anmoins, on y retrouve aussi plus le c\u00f4t\u00e9 enqu\u00eateur dans une intrigue qui m\u00eale secrets personnels et une secte s\u2019attaquant \u00e0 nos traumas enfouis pour offrir de bonnes interactions de personnages et des situations plus vari\u00e9es entre enqu\u00eate, infiltration et action \u2013 m\u00eame l\u2019action finale (qui suit donc le sch\u00e9ma \u00ab\u00a0Reacher\u00a0\u00bb) est moins brute. \u00ab\u00a0Neagley\u00a0\u00bb ne renouvelle donc clairement pas la formule, mais elle l\u2019affine dans une histoire qui pousse chaque personnage \u00e0 r\u00e9gler ses comptes avec lui-m\u00eame, y compris Frances et son haptophobie.<\/p><p>Douloureux pass\u00e9, ferme isol\u00e9e, enjeux de <em>big pharma<\/em> et duo de flics caboss\u00e9s, en d\u2019autres termes \u2026 du d\u00e9j\u00e0-vu oui, mais solidement ex\u00e9cut\u00e9 qui cr\u00e9e d\u2019int\u00e9ressants parall\u00e8les narratifs autour de personnages secondaires qui ont plus de place pour exister, dans une enqu\u00eate prenante et clairement plus intrigante que la derni\u00e8re saison de \u00ab\u00a0Reacher\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0!<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Rapha\u00ebl Sallenave<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-42480e6 elementor-widget__width-initial exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"42480e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><p>Although <em>Amazon<\/em> has slightly less faith in her than in Reacher (by releasing the entire season at once on <em>Prime<\/em>), the streaming service has nonetheless decided to devote a whole limited series to the former colleague of the solitary, wandering military police officer. But unlike her former commander, Frances Neagley has a home, a family, a job, and an office. Now a private investigator in Chicago, she is drawn into investigating a farming cult led by a hippie guru with a smile too big to be true, following the suicide of her childhood friend.<\/p><p>The series had chosen to adapt the novels into a specific format that it has stuck to season after season, but here we have an original screenplay written specifically to fit that format, designed initially for the adaptation of Lee Child\u2019s novels. And (surprisingly) it works! It\u2019s obviously consistent with and true to the \u201cReacher\u201d style, retaining its non-stop pacing, but also some of its weaknesses, such as fairly bland staging and characters who are a bit thinly written and somewhat clich\u00e9d (including the villain, once again). Nevertheless, the investigative aspect is more prominent here in a plot that blends personal secrets with a cult preying on our buried traumas, offering strong character interactions and a wider variety of situations, ranging from investigation to undercover work to action \u2013 even the final action sequence (which follows the \u201cReacher\u201d formula) is less heavy-handed. \u201cNeagley\u201d therefore clearly doesn\u2019t break new ground, but it refines the formula in a story that pushes each character to come to terms with themselves \u2013 including Frances and her haphephobia.<\/p><p>A painful past, an isolated farm, the machinations of Big Pharma, and a pair of battered cops \u2013 in other words\u2026 a familiar story, yes, but one that\u2019s solidly executed and creates interesting narrative parallels around secondary characters who are given more room to shine here, in a gripping investigation that\u2019s clearly more intriguing than the latest season of \u201cReacher\u201d!<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Rapha\u00ebl Sallenave<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section
