Le cin\u00e9ma du r\u00e9alisateur roumain prim\u00e9 \u00e0 Cannes s\u2019int\u00e9resse aux conflits humains &amp; int\u00e9rieurs et observe la mani\u00e8re dont une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 fabrique ses propres impasses, sans jamais donner de le\u00e7ons, plut\u00f4t en donnant \u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir. L\u2019objectif \u00e9tant de ne pas confirmer les id\u00e9es que le spectateur pouvait avoir avant de voir le film, de le d\u00e9barrasser de ses a priori &amp; certitudes, et le pousser \u00e0 penser contre lui-m\u00eame. Avec \u00ab\u00a0fjord\u00a0\u00bb, il questionne ici l\u2019\u00e9ducation, dont les r\u00e8gles et sanctions varient en fonction des cultures nationales et id\u00e9ologiques \u00e0 travers le parcours d\u2019une famille roumano-norv\u00e9gienne qui s\u2019installe dans une petite ville pr\u00e8s d\u2019un fjord. Ils sont chr\u00e9tiens \u00e9vang\u00e9liques. Et leur pays d\u2019accueil est tr\u00e8s progressiste. \u00c9tant constitu\u00e9es d\u2019eau sal\u00e9e et d\u2019eau douce, les eaux des fjords se m\u00e9langent peu ou mal \u2026<\/p><p>C\u2019est un film d\u2019opposition entre deux id\u00e9es, deux modes de vie qui se refl\u00e8tent dans une mise en sc\u00e8ne dont le rythme lent prend le temps de s\u2019attarder sur de nombreux d\u00e9tails et sp\u00e9cificit\u00e9s dans chaque camp (des int\u00e9rieurs des maisons aux voitures en passant par des gestes d\u00e9rob\u00e9s) au gr\u00e9 de longs plans nous plongeant dans ce microcosme. Mungiu fait preuve d\u2019un vrai sens du cadre o\u00f9 la dynamique de la sc\u00e8ne est transmise par une cam\u00e9ra fixe lorsque l\u2019opposition est de mise et l\u00e9g\u00e8rement instable lorsque la donne est sur le point de basculer. Bouclant parfaitement la boucle entre un premier plan pr\u00e9monitoire de l\u2019issue finale et un dernier plan symbolique d\u2019un progressisme transcendant la religion, sa mise en sc\u00e8ne tr\u00e8s ma\u00eetris\u00e9e laisse les paysages dialoguer avec la froideur des institutions et des relations de personnages.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-30059 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6632.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6632.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6632-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6632-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6632-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>Un froid norv\u00e9gien qui se traduit par un point de vue r\u00e9solument ext\u00e9rieur au point de rester de dos lors des sc\u00e8nes d\u2019\u00e9motions et de ne laisser Sebastian Stan et Renate Reinsve n\u2019offrir aucun effet d\u00e9monstratif dans un jeu (trilingue) o\u00f9 tout se joue dans l\u2019attitude \u2013 bien loin des r\u00f4les qu\u2019ils partageaient dans \u00ab\u00a0A Different Man\u00a0\u00bb. Que l\u2019on suive le point de vue des parents ou celui des enfants, le spectateur reste donc tout du long \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur des \u00e9v\u00e9nements pour laisser constamment planer un doute et surtout ne pas s\u2019attacher \u00e0 un personnage d\u2019un camp ou d\u2019un autre. Car m\u00eame si l\u2019on suit cette histoire sous l\u2019angle d\u2019une famille, c\u2019est un film assez \u00e9quilibr\u00e9 qui ne veut pas orienter son spectateur. Si le sc\u00e9nario \u00e9labor\u00e9 r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 nous happer dans ses \u00e9v\u00e9nements, il ne cherche donc pas \u00e0 g\u00e9n\u00e9rer d\u2019\u00e9motion aupr\u00e8s de ses personnages, ce qui ne facilite pas l\u2019attachement, mais s\u2019av\u00e8re particuli\u00e8rement coh\u00e9rent pour un film \u00e0 d\u00e9bat.<\/p><p>Jusqu\u2019o\u00f9 la certitude d\u2019agir pour le bien peut-elle aller avant de devenir une forme de violence\u00a0? Car m\u00eame arm\u00e9 des meilleures intentions, on peut tous mal agir. Qu\u2019est-ce qui doit donc pr\u00e9valoir\u00a0: la protection de l\u2019enfant ou la pr\u00e9somption d\u2019innocence\u00a0? \u00ab\u00a0Fjord\u00a0\u00bb explore ainsi une bataille de valeurs o\u00f9 la conviction a plus de poids que la v\u00e9rit\u00e9. En soulignant les limites des deux camps, il d\u00e9veloppe chacun selon son prisme et n\u2019en fige aucun entre victimes et coupables. Sans jamais nous imposer une v\u00e9rit\u00e9, il montre deux camps qui s\u2019abritent tous deux derri\u00e8re leur v\u00e9rit\u00e9, l\u2019un derri\u00e8re des convictions rigoristes et l\u2019autre derri\u00e8re une libert\u00e9 proc\u00e9durale. Chaque camp allant jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019abus et une forme de violence au nom de sa croyance. En attaquant autant la x\u00e9nophobie du progr\u00e8s que l\u2019exploitation politique du drame, le film interroge ainsi au final l\u2019acte de croire et l\u2019ambigu\u00eft\u00e9 de la libert\u00e9. Car derri\u00e8re les fess\u00e9es, au fond, c\u2019est bien l\u2019endoctrinement religieux qui pose le plus probl\u00e8me au niveau social\u00a0: dans un pays aussi progressiste que la Norv\u00e8ge, on peut parler de genre tr\u00e8s librement (et tr\u00e8s t\u00f4t), mais pas de foi \u2026\u00a0? The films of this Cannes-award-winning Romanian director explore human and internal conflicts, observing how society creates its own dead ends \u2013 never by lecturing, but rather by provoking thought. The goal is not to confirm any preconceptions the viewer might have had before seeing the film, but to free them from their assumptions and certainties, and to challenge them to think against their own beliefs. In \u201cFjord,\u201d he examines childhood education \u2013 whose rules and discipline vary according to national and ideological cultures \u2013 through the story of a Romanian-Norwegian family that settles in a small town near a fjord. They are evangelical Christians. Their host country is very progressive. And as they are formed of saltwater and freshwater, the waters of the fjords rarely mix well, if at all\u2026<\/p><p>This film explores the contrast between two ideas, two ways of life, reflected in a slow-paced narrative that takes the time to linger on numerous details and nuances on each side \u2013 from the interiors of homes to cars to subtle gestures \u2013 through long takes that allow us to delve into this microcosm. Mungiu demonstrates a true sense of composition, where the scene\u2019s flow is conveyed by a steady camera when the conflict reigns and becomes slightly unsteady when the balance of power is about to shift. Without ever imposing a single truth on us, it depicts two sides that both hide behind their own truths \u2013 one behind rigid convictions and the other behind procedural freedom. Each side goes so far as to commit abuse and a form of violence in the name of its beliefs. By attacking both the xenophobia of progress and the political exploitation of tragedy, the film ultimately questions the act of believing and the ambiguity of freedom.
