Westeros se d\u00e9chire ! Les dragons sont d\u00e9sormais entr\u00e9s dans la danse, et derri\u00e8re les arm\u00e9es, il ne reste plus que des ruines et des cendres. Cette troisi\u00e8me saison est celle de la guerre, et l\u2019ampleur de ses destructions et ravages met d\u2019autant plus en perspective jusqu\u2019o\u00f9 les hommes sont pr\u00eats \u00e0 aller pour le pouvoir \u2026 car tout cela d\u00e9coule finalement d\u2019un simple d\u00e9saccord d\u2019h\u00e9ritage !<\/p><p>Apr\u00e8s une seconde saison qui s\u2019\u00e9tait achev\u00e9e sur d\u2019ultimes mouvements de pions, cette saison rebat imm\u00e9diatement tout l\u2019\u00e9chiquier avec une immense bataille d\u2019introduction qui nous plonge directement dans le feu du conflit. Probl\u00e8me, ce qui sert ici d\u2019introduction aurait d\u00fb constituer la conclusion de la saison pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. R\u00e9sultat avec ce nouveau format de saison en 8 \u00e9pisodes \u2013 dont les deux premiers servent d\u2019aboutissement narratif aux arcs de la pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente saison \u2013 il ne reste que peu d\u2019\u00e9pisodes pour d\u00e9velopper les cons\u00e9quences de cette guerre totale. Cette saison trois donne alors parfois l\u2019impression d\u2019aller vite tout en \u2026 prenant son temps.<\/p><p>Si la saison souffre donc d\u2019un d\u00e9faut structurel, elle offre n\u00e9anmoins un riche r\u00e9cit finement \u00e9crit qui prend quelques libert\u00e9s, tout en restant tr\u00e8s fid\u00e8le dans l\u2019ensemble, avec le roman d\u2019origine dont les narrateurs biais\u00e9s offrent une certaine libert\u00e9 d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation. Apr\u00e8s s\u2019\u00eatre attel\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u00e9cortiquer comment acc\u00e9der au pouvoir (quand on est une femme), la s\u00e9rie s\u2019attaque donc d\u00e9sormais \u00e0 d\u00e9celer comment y rester. Le parcours de Rhaenyra est en cela particuli\u00e8rement int\u00e9ressant en tant que figure f\u00e9minine en qu\u00eate de l\u00e9gitimit\u00e9 confront\u00e9e \u00e0 la nature corruptrice du pouvoir. Son triomphe ressemble en effet imm\u00e9diatement \u00e0 une perte \u2013 ce que la mise en sc\u00e8ne illustre d\u2019ailleurs habilement \u2013 morale et humaine. Puisque la douceur et l\u2019empathie n\u2019ont pas port\u00e9 leurs fruits, elle se tourne vers la peur en allant jusqu\u2019\u00e0 agir contre sa nature, \u00e0 se d\u00e9barrasser de sa boussole morale et tactique, et <em>in fine<\/em> \u00e0 basculer dans l\u2019iconographie fasciste et l\u2019auto-proph\u00e9tie. Elle devient peu \u00e0 peu dans cette saison, ce qu\u2019elle a jur\u00e9 de combattre, ce qui revient finalement \u00e0 remettre le pouvoir aux mains de l\u2019ancien Daemon alors m\u00eame que le choix de Viserys \u00e0 l\u2019origine de tous ces \u00e9v\u00e9nements, avait justement \u00e9t\u00e9 fait pour \u00e9viter cela.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-30292 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6685.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6685.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6685-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6685-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6685-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>Ce que r\u00e9ussit haut la main cette saison c\u2019est donc ce difficile basculement de point de vue, c\u2019est une trahison du spectateur, la s\u00e9rie rendant ainsi sa protagoniste principale d\u00e9testable et offrant une perspective horrifique pour la suite tant la seule once d\u2019espoir restant est d\u00e9sormais incarn\u00e9e par Aegon\u00a0! Le plan final symbolise cela en montrant qu\u2019une fois le pouvoir conquis, son royaume lui est d\u00e9sormais inatteignable \u2013 et nous spectateurs, avec. Mais cette structure de saison limite malheureusement certains d\u00e9veloppements tout aussi int\u00e9ressants \u00e0 l\u2019image des trajectoires parall\u00e8les de Jaecerys &amp; Rhaena ou du parall\u00e8le entre les prises de conscience de Daemon &amp; Aemond \u00e0 Harrenhal, sans oublier de nouveaux personnages introduits qui n\u2019ont pas le temps de creuser une profonde identit\u00e9 avant leur propre tombe.<\/p><p>Cette saison s\u2019impose alors comme la moins convaincante de la s\u00e9rie, avant une ultime qui aura fort \u00e0 faire narrativement et \u00e9motionnellement. Pourtant, difficile de reprocher quoi que ce soit \u00e0 sa ma\u00eetrise technique. Visuellement, \u00ab House of the Dragon \u00bb continue d\u2019envoyer du lourd : d\u00e9cors monumentaux, costumes somptueux, dragons, flammes et effets pratiques donnent \u00e0 Westeros une mat\u00e9rialit\u00e9 impressionnante. La multiplication des lieux et ses bonnes transitions narratives offrent de plus une certaine ampleur \u00e0 un r\u00e9cit rythm\u00e9 et ma\u00eetris\u00e9. Westeros is tearing itself apart! The dragons have now entered the dance, and in the wake of the armies, nothing remains but ruins and ashes. This third season is one of war, and the scale of its destruction and devastation puts into even sharper perspective just how far men are willing to go for power\u2026 because it all ultimately stems from a simple dispute over inheritance!<\/p><p>After a second season that ended with some final strategic moves, this season immediately reshuffles the entire chessboard with a massive opening battle that throws us straight into the heat of the action. The problem is that what serves as the introduction here should have been the conclusion of the previous season. As a result, with this new eight-episode season format \u2013 in which the first two episodes serve as the narrative culmination of the previous season\u2019s story arcs \u2013 there are only a few episodes left to explore the consequences of this all-out war. Season three, then, sometimes gives the impression of moving quickly while\u2026 also taking its time.<\/p><p>While the season may suffer from a structural flaw, it nonetheless offers a rich, finely crafted narrative that takes a few liberties \u2013 while remaining largely faithful \u2013 to the original novel, whose biased narrators allow for a certain degree of creative license. After focusing on how to rise to power (as a woman), the series now turns its attention to how to hold onto it. Rhaenyra\u2019s journey is particularly interesting in this regard as a female figure seeking legitimacy while confronted with the corrupting nature of power. Her triumph, in fact, immediately feels like a loss \u2013 which the direction skillfully illustrates \u2013 both moral and human. Since gentleness and empathy have failed to deliver results, she turns to fear, going so far as to act against her own nature, to cast aside her moral and tactical compass, and ultimately to slip into fascist iconography and self-fulfilling prophecy. Over the course of this season, she gradually becomes the very thing she swore to fight, which ultimately amounts to handing power back to the former Daemon \u2013 even though Viserys\u2019s choice, which set all these events in motion, had been made precisely to prevent that from happening.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-30285 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6678.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6678.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6678-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6678-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Snapshot_6678-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>What this season does remarkably well, then, is this difficult shift in perspective \u2013 it\u2019s a betrayal of the viewer \u2013 as the series makes its main protagonist utterly detestable and sets up a terrifying prospect for what\u2019s to come, since the only glimmer of hope left is now embodied by Aegon! The final shot symbolizes this by showing that once power has been seized, her kingdom is now out of her reach \u2013 and so are we, the viewers. But unfortunately, the structure of this season limits certain equally interesting developments, such as the parallel arcs of Jaecerys and Rhaena or the similar realizations experienced by Daemon and Aemond at Harrenhal, not to mention the new characters introduced who don\u2019t have time to develop a deep sense of identity before meeting their end.<\/p><p>This season thus stands out as the least compelling of the series, ahead of a final one that will have a lot to achieve narratively and emotionally. Yet it\u2019s hard to fault its technical craftsmanship. Visually, \u201cHouse of the Dragon\u201d continues to deliver in a big way: monumental sets, lavish costumes, dragons, flames, and practical effects give Westeros an impressive sense of reality. The variety of locations and smooth narrative transitions also lend a certain scope to a well-paced and well-crafted narrative.
