Toujours cr\u00e9\u00e9e par Lee Sung-jin et mise en sc\u00e8ne notamment par Jake Schreier, la s\u00e9rie \u2013 que l\u2019on peut d\u00e9sormais qualifier d\u2019anthologie \u2013 conserve son go\u00fbt du m\u00e9lange des genres mais change sensiblement de dynamique : seulement huit \u00e9pisodes mais plus longs qu\u2019en premi\u00e8re saison, deux couples en miroir, et une histoire qui ressemble finalement davantage \u00e0 un r\u00e9cit de rupture(s) qu\u2019\u00e0 une histoire de \u2018beef\u2019.<\/p><p>Exit le face-\u00e0-face entre celui qui n\u2019a rien et celle qui semble tout avoir : les deux couples \u00e9voluent d\u00e9sormais dans un univers o\u00f9 l\u2019argent circule, m\u00eame si aucun n\u2019en poss\u00e8de v\u00e9ritablement les cl\u00e9s. L\u2019un en est proche, l\u2019autre en constitue le dernier maillon, et c\u2019est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment cette position qui nourrit les jeux d\u2019influence, les manipulations et les tentatives d\u2019arnaque qui vont progressivement faire voler en \u00e9clats leurs certitudes. Derri\u00e8re cette m\u00e9canique plus classique se dessine ainsi une r\u00e9flexion toujours pertinente sur le capitalisme, l\u2019ambition et les rapports de pouvoir, mais surtout sur le couple : que reste-t-il de nous lorsque celui-ci ne suffit plus \u00e0 nous d\u00e9finir ?<\/p><p>Car si la premi\u00e8re saison \u00e9tait celle de la ranc\u0153ur, cette nouvelle salve est davantage celle de la peur de l\u2019abandon. Elle fait tout pour \u00eatre aim\u00e9e et ne pas \u00eatre seule ; lui agit constamment par amour. Deux mani\u00e8res diff\u00e9rentes de s\u2019accrocher \u00e0 l\u2019autre qui finissent par provoquer les m\u00eames fissures. Le double duo constitu\u00e9 de Carey Mulligan &amp; Oscar Isaac et Cailee Spaeny &amp; Charles Melton aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s notamment de l\u2019actrice de \u00ab\u00a0Minari\u00a0\u00bb et de l\u2019acteur de \u00ab\u00a0Parasite\u00a0\u00bb, livre de belles prestations port\u00e9es par de tr\u00e8s bonnes caract\u00e9risations de personnages et quelques savoureux retournements.<\/p><p>Pas aussi fulgurante que la premi\u00e8re, mais toujours inventive, dr\u00f4le et parfois profond\u00e9ment triste, la saison 2 d\u00e9place ainsi le \u2018beef\u2019 vers des dissentions en miroir au sein des couples\u00a0: moins une guerre entre deux individus qu\u2019une lutte pour savoir qui l\u2019on est lorsque l\u2019autre menace de nous \u00e9chapper. Still created by Lee Sung-jin and directed in part by Jake Schreier, the series \u2013 which can now be described as an anthology \u2013 keeps blending genres but shifts its dynamic significantly: just eight episodes, though longer than in the first season; two mirror-image couples; and a story that ultimately feels more like a tale of breakups than a beef story.<\/p><p>Gone is the face-off between the man who has nothing and the woman who seems to have it all: both couples now operate in a world where money flows easily, even though neither truly holds the keys to it. One is close to it, the other is its lowest link, and it is precisely this position that fuels the power plays, manipulations, and attempts at fraud that will gradually shatter their certainties. Behind this more traditional narrative lies a reflection that remains as relevant as ever on capitalism, ambition, and power dynamics \u2013 but above all on the couple: what remains of us when the couple is no longer enough to define us?<\/p><p>If the first season was one of resentment, this new one is more about the fear of abandonment. One does everything she can to be loved and to avoid being alone, when the other always acts out of love. Two different ways of clinging to one another that ultimately cause the same cracks to appear. The two pairs of Carey Mulligan &amp; Oscar Isaac and Cailee Spaeny &amp; Charles Melton, alongside especially the actress from \u201cMinari\u201d and the actor from \u201cParasite\u201d, deliver strong performances, driven by strong characterizations and a few thrilling plot twists.<\/p><p>Not quite as sensational as the first, but still inventive, funny, and at times deeply sad, Season 2 shifts the beef toward mirrored conflicts within couples: less a war between two individuals than a struggle to figure out who we are when the other threatens to slip away from us. While revenge stemming from a misunderstanding and the characters\u2019 ambition remain a foundation, this season clearly leans more toward an exploration of couple relationships as an inherent product of the capitalist system, which is viewed here as much a system of the \u201cself\u201d as a system of \u201cnature\u201d \u2013 one in which love, just like all of our other relationships, must exist within.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Rapha\u00ebl
