Le synopsis est simple mais innovant : une tour d\u2019habitation et ses occupants se retrouvent myst\u00e9rieusement entour\u00e9s d\u2019un brouillard opaque qui emp\u00eache toute possibilit\u00e9 de sortie\u2026<\/p><p>S\u2019inspirant clairement des codes et implications du confinement en les poussant \u00e0 l\u2019extr\u00eame, le film constitue un angoissant huis clos o\u00f9 r\u00e8gne l\u2019incertitude et o\u00f9 se r\u00e9v\u00e8le progressivement l\u2019absurdit\u00e9 de la condition humaine. \u00c0 ce nihilisme cauchemardesque s\u2019ajoute ainsi un climat de violence augment\u00e9 par la peur et le d\u00e9sespoir des protagonistes. La sempiternelle obscurit\u00e9 qui obombre la tour assombrit aussi les multiples personnages qui ne font que subir leur sort malgr\u00e9 leurs vaines luttes. L\u2019histoire d\u2019Assitan (Ang\u00e8le Mac) \u2013 v\u00e9ritable fil rouge du film \u2013 est de loin la plus touchante et la plus humaine dans cet environnement d\u00e9l\u00e9t\u00e8re et cruel.<\/p><p>Il est vrai que \u00ab La Tour \u00bb para\u00eet pr\u00e9senter quelques lacunes qui donnent l\u2019impression d\u2019un film inabouti. Les nombreuses ellipses temporelles surench\u00e9rissent un sentiment d\u00e9j\u00e0 pr\u00e9gnant de confusion g\u00e9n\u00e9rale \u2013 aussi li\u00e9e au grand nombre de personnages. La \u00ab facile \u00bb formation des diff\u00e9rents groupes et cohortes dans la tour instaure une s\u00e9gr\u00e9gation \u00e0 la limite de l\u2019apartheid et qui donc d\u00e9range toute personne a minima sensible aux questions de racisme. Enfin, malgr\u00e9 une consid\u00e9ration de la d\u00e9gradation du b\u00e2timent (messages, graffiti, quasi \u0153uvres d\u2019art apparaissant sur les murs), plusieurs \u00e9nigmes pratico-pratiques demeurent : sur l\u2019eau, l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 et bien s\u00fbr ces t\u00e9n\u00e8bres imp\u00e9n\u00e9trables autour de la tour.<\/p><p>En revanche, le long-m\u00e9trage perturbe dans sa mani\u00e8re de nous pr\u00e9senter les d\u00e9rives de la nature humaine. Outre la violence spontan\u00e9e voire gratuite de certains, le d\u00e9sir de se r\u00e9fugier dans des croyances ou des semblants d\u2019ordre accro\u00eet la folie des habitants. Seule la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019Assitan nous rappelle que l\u2019humanit\u00e9 peut rester bienveillante. M\u00eame si elle ne croit plus en rien. It does nothing.\u00a0\u00bb A striking moral, almost traumatizing, extracted from \u201cLa Tour\u201d, the latest feature film by Guillaume Nicloux and with an atmosphere as oppressive as possible. The plot is simple but innovative: a high-rise building and its occupants find themselves mysteriously surrounded by an opaque fog that prevents any possibility of escape&#8230;<\/p><p>Clearly inspired by the codes and implications of lockdown and pushing them to the extreme, the movie creates an anguishing closed-door environment where uncertainty reigns and where the absurdity of the human condition is gradually revealed. To this nightmarish nihilism is added a climate of violence increased by the fear and the despair of the protagonists. The endless darkness that shrouds the tower also darkens the multiple characters who only suffer their fate despite their vain struggles. The story of Assitan (Ang\u00e8le Mac) &#8211; the main thread of the film &#8211; is by far the most touching and the most human in this noxious and cruel environment.<\/p><p>It is true that \u201cThe Tower\u201d appears to have some flaws that give the feeling of an unfinished film. The numerous time jumps add to an already pervasive feeling of general confusion \u2013 also linked to the high number of characters. The \u00ab\u00a0easy\u00a0\u00bb formation of the different groups and factions in the tower establishes a segregation bordering on apartheid and therefore disturbing to anyone who is even remotely sensitive to racism. Finally, despite a consideration of the degradation of the building (messages, graffiti, quasi works of art appearing on the walls), several practical enigmas remain: about water, electricity, and of course the impenetrable darkness around the tower.<\/p><p>On the other hand, the film is disturbing in the way it shows us the excesses of human nature. In addition to the gratuitous violence of some, the desire to take refuge in beliefs or semblance of order increases the madness of the inhabitants. Only the presence of Assitan reminds us that humanity can remain benevolent. Even if it no longer believes in anything. Especially if it no longer believes in anything.<\/p><p>Axel
