Et de retour en grandes pompes avec un grand spectacle comme il en a tant fait lui qui a marqu\u00e9 l\u2019histoire du cin\u00e9ma am\u00e9ricain avec une filmographie variant les genres et les styles dans un impressionnant \u00e9clectisme sans fausse note. On pourrait m\u00eame dire que le monsieur n\u2019a jamais fait de mauvais film en soi, ils ne sont peut-\u00eatre pas tous des chefs d\u2019\u0153uvre, mais ses films offrent tous au minimum une certaine qualit\u00e9 toujours garantie. Pour l\u2019occasion, il revient \u00e0 la science-fiction dans un domaine qu\u2019il conna\u00eet bien apr\u00e8s avoir explor\u00e9 les th\u00e9matiques extra-terrestres sous plusieurs tons, du plus enfantin et magique dans \u00ab E.T. \u00bb au plus belliqueux et catastrophiques dans \u00ab La Guerre des Mondes \u00bb, en passant bien s\u00fbr par l\u2019une de ses pierres fondatrices \u00ab Rencontres du troisi\u00e8me type \u00bb. Et l\u2019ambition n\u2019est autre ici que de faire avancer le genre en s\u2019interrogeant sur les implications d\u2019une potentielle r\u00e9elle existence des aliens. Qu\u2019est-ce que cela cr\u00e9erait-il comme r\u00e9actions et comportements \u00e0 l\u2019heure des d\u00e9sinformations, de la perte de confiance envers les gouvernants et de la r\u00e9\u00e9mergence d\u2019une supr\u00e9matie de la foi ?<\/p><p>Quelle immense d\u00e9ception\u00a0! Que ce film qui n\u2019est que l\u2019ombre de lui-m\u00eame dans une trame de 2h30 o\u00f9 l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat ne survient que dans le dernier quart d\u2019heure pour finalement \u00eatre laiss\u00e9 en plan sans v\u00e9ritable aboutissement. Jamais vraiment captivant, c\u2019est un film dont la tension et le myst\u00e8re reposent sur un sc\u00e9nario complotiste maladroit qui a besoin de grosses sc\u00e8nes explicatives pour relier une trame manich\u00e9enne assez vide suite \u00e0 une sc\u00e8ne d\u2019ouverture particuli\u00e8rement rat\u00e9e, aussi bien d\u2019un point de vue narratif que visuel. Il faut dire que si Spielberg est connu pour sa science des plans et la fluidit\u00e9 dans ses placements de cam\u00e9ra, on ne retrouve jamais une mise en sc\u00e8ne digne de ce qu\u2019il a su proposer dans tous ses pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents films. Comment les gens sont-ils cens\u00e9s concilier leur croyance en Dieu avec l\u2019existence si elle \u00e9tait av\u00e9r\u00e9e des extraterrestres ? Une telle r\u00e9v\u00e9lation pourrait totalement \u00e9branler de profondes convictions. Mais apr\u00e8s deux conversations d\u2019un personnage secondaire introduisant cette th\u00e9matique, cette derni\u00e8re est tout bonnement laiss\u00e9e sous le tapis au profit d\u2019une autre th\u00e9matique \u00e9galement int\u00e9ressante, et \u00e9galement d\u2019actualit\u00e9 \u2026 la bataille pour la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 !<\/p><p>Mais l\u00e0 encore il n\u2019en est rien tant il laisse notre imagination \u00e0 la porte de l\u2019univers laissant toutes les intrigantes questions et les int\u00e9ressants enjeux pour le g\u00e9n\u00e9rique de fin quand une pr\u00e9sentatrice t\u00e9l\u00e9 doit r\u00e9agir \u00e0 ces fameuses r\u00e9v\u00e9lations. D\u2019autant plus qu\u2019en m\u00ealant ses deux th\u00e9matiques (Dieu et la v\u00e9rit\u00e9), le film cr\u00e9e un parall\u00e8le constant entre les aliens et la divinit\u00e9, entre la croyance religieuse et la croyance en des extra-terrestres, o\u00f9 la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 pourrait ainsi s\u2019assimiler \u00e0 la foi (dans un prolongement qui pourrait m\u00eame s\u2019av\u00e9rer un peu dangereux si on allait plus loin que le film sur ce point) \u00e0 l\u2019image du petit oiseau qui sert d\u2019oracle annon\u00e7ant la pr\u00e9sence alien aux humains et qui n\u2019est autre qu\u2019un cardinal.<\/p><p>L\u2019objectif de nos deux h\u00e9ros est donc de r\u00e9v\u00e9ler la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019humanit\u00e9 face \u00e0 une agence anti-v\u00e9rit\u00e9 \u2013 dirig\u00e9e par un Colin Firth caricatural au possible \u2013 qui se veut au-dessus du gouvernement (tout en restant bien s\u00fbr uniquement am\u00e9ricaine, puisqu\u2019en 50 ans les aliens ont eu le temps d\u2019explorer notre vaste monde \u2026 \u00e9tats-unien seulement). C\u2019est donc l\u2019histoire de deux \u00e9lus, une femme et un homme. L\u2019un est dou\u00e9 scientifiquement quand l\u2019autre est dou\u00e9 humainement. C\u2019est le Yin et le Yang de la compr\u00e9hension ultime qui ne cr\u00e9e qu\u2019empathie, sinc\u00e9rit\u00e9 et bont\u00e9 entre un Josh O\u2019Connor un peu inexistant et une Emily Blunt qui r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 bien s\u2019en tirer avec un personnage d\u2019abord dr\u00f4le dans son introduction (aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s d\u2019un Wyatt Russell comique) puis \u00e9mouvante dans son \u00e9volution. Cela cr\u00e9e d\u2019abord une trame in\u00e9gale entre deux protagonistes pas aussi int\u00e9ressants l\u2019un que l\u2019autre avant qu\u2019ils ne puissent rejoindre un Colman Domingo qui les attendaient depuis 2h pour faire d\u00e9marrer le film.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-28785 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Snapshot_6363.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Snapshot_6363.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Snapshot_6363-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Snapshot_6363-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Snapshot_6363-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>Alors oui il y a bien quelques sc\u00e8nes r\u00e9ussies, notamment la s\u00e9quence d\u2019invisibilit\u00e9 o\u00f9 l\u2019on touche du bout des doigts la magie spielbergienne, et le message humaniste du film r\u00e9sonne actuellement en rappelant que pour apaiser les tensions (dans un monde encore plus divis\u00e9 qu\u2019aujourd\u2019hui, au bord de la troisi\u00e8me guerre mondiale, bien que ces tensions ne soient jamais palpables dans le film), il suffit de r\u00e9apprendre \u00e0 s\u2019\u00e9couter. And he\u2019s back in grand style with a blockbuster spectacle \u2013 just the kind he\u2019s made so many times before \u2013 having written his name into the history of American cinema with a filmography that spans genres and styles with impressive versatility and without a single misstep. One could even say that the man has never made a bad movie per se; they may not all be masterpieces, but his films all offer, at the very least, a certain standard of quality. This time around, he takes us back to science fiction \u2013 a genre he knows well, after exploring extraterrestrial themes in a variety of tones, from the most childlike and magical in \u201cE.T.\u201d to the most warlike and apocalyptic in \u201cWar of the Worlds\u201d, not to mention, of course, one of his seminal works, \u201cClose Encounters of the Third Kind\u201d. And the ambition here is none other than to push the genre forward by questioning the implied consequences of the potential real existence of aliens. What kind of reactions and behaviors would this trigger in an era of misinformation, loss of trust in governments, and the resurgence of faith supremacy?<\/p><p>What a huge disappointment! This film is merely a shadow of what it could have been, stretching out over 2 hours and 25 minutes, with the only interesting moments coming in the final 15\u2019 \u2013 only to be left hanging without any real pay-off. Never truly captivating, this is a film whose tension and mystery rest on a clumsy conspiracy-theory plot that relies on heavy-handed exposition scenes to tie together a rather hollow, black-and-white narrative following a particularly disastrous opening scene \u2013 both narratively and visually. Although Spielberg is known for his mastery of shot composition and fluid camera work, the film never achieves the level of direction he has delivered in all his previous films. And even surrounded by his trusted collaborators \u2013 with cinematographer Janusz Kami\u0144ski (\u201cWest Side Story\u201d and \u201cThe Fabelmans\u201d recently), screenwriter David Koepp (\u201cBlack Bag\u201d and \u201cPresence\u201d just last year), and legendary composer John Williams \u2013 the film never quite sweeps you away.<\/p><p>\u201cDisclosure Day,\u201d however, raises the fascinating question of divinity and faith in this hypothetical context. How are people supposed to reconcile their belief in God with the existence \u2013 if proven \u2013 of extraterrestrials? Such a revelation could completely shake the foundations of deeply rooted beliefs. All the more so because, by intertwining these two themes (God and truth), the film draws a constant parallel between aliens and deity, between religious belief and belief in extraterrestrials, where truth could thus be equated with faith (in an extension that might even prove a bit dangerous if we were to take this idea further than the film does) \u2013 much like the little bird that serves as an oracle announcing the aliens\u2019 presence to humans and which is none other than a cardinal.<\/p><p>The goal of our two heroes is therefore to reveal the truth to humanity against an \u201canti-truth\u201d agency \u2013 led by a Colin Firth who couldn\u2019t be more of a caricature \u2013 that claims to be above the government (while, of course, remaining exclusively American, since in 50 years the aliens have had time to explore the whole of our vast world\u2026 but only in the United States). So, this is the story of two chosen ones, a woman and a man. One is scientifically gifted, while the other is emotionally gifted. It\u2019s the yin and yang of ultimate understanding, which fosters nothing but empathy, sincerity, and kindness between a somewhat lackluster Josh O\u2019Connor and an Emily Blunt who manages to pull it off well with a character who is initially funny in her introduction (alongside a comical Wyatt Russell) and then moving as she evolves. This initially creates an uneven storyline between two protagonists who aren\u2019t equally interesting until they join Colman Domingo, who\u2019s been waiting for them for two hours to get the film kicked off.<\/p><p>So yes, there are indeed a few well-executed scenes, especially the invisibility one where we get a glimpse of that Spielberg magic, and the film\u2019s humanistic message resonates today by reminding us that to ease tensions (in a world even more divided than our own, on the brink of World War III \u2013 though these tensions are never tangible in the film), all we need to do is learn to listen to one another again. But this childlike optimism is limited to a somewhat dated fairy-tale dimension that loses sight of the heart of its matter, ultimately and undeniably establishing itself as the filmmaker\u2019s
