This does not concern you!\u201d<\/p><p>Avec cette r\u00e9plique de Miranda \u00e0 Andy, tout le c\u0153ur du probl\u00e8me d\u2019un tel film est parfaitement r\u00e9sum\u00e9 et lucidement expos\u00e9. S\u2019inscrivant dans cette nouvelle tendance d\u2019Hollywood de ressusciter des succ\u00e8s d\u2019antan comme ce fut le cas derni\u00e8rement avec \u00ab\u00a0Blade Runner\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0Gladiator\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Le Diable s\u2019habille en Prada 2\u00a0\u00bb aurait tr\u00e8s bien pu se confronter au probl\u00e8me qui touche nombre de ces suites de plus de vingt ans (dites \u2018legacy sequels\u2019). Mais contrairement \u00e0 d\u2019autres, il ne joue pas uniquement sur la nostalgie d\u2019un film entre-temps devenu iconique dans une intrigue superficielle qui en fin de compte n\u2019a pas grand-chose \u00e0 raconter et se contente de cloner la recette avec quelques rides en plus. Ici (non seulement aucune ride n\u2019est visible, c\u2019est la mode) mais surtout, et pour une fois, une telle suite para\u00eet finalement assez l\u00e9gitime parce qu\u2019elle a quelque chose \u00e0 dire.<\/p><p>Si le premier volet \u00e9tait un r\u00e9cit d\u2019apprentissage sur une jeune stagiaire qui se complaisait un temps dans son r\u00f4le d\u2019esclave de luxe en jouant avec humour sur la m\u00e9chancet\u00e9 d\u2019une boss tyrannique, c\u2019\u00e9tait un film qui mettait en valeur la mode, son importance, son poids, son r\u00f4le dans la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 et contrebalan\u00e7ait cela avec la place du journalisme. Une suite d\u2019une telle histoire, vingt ans plus tard, se doit donc en effet (et \u00e0 juste titre) de questionner la d\u00e9su\u00e9tude d\u2019un tel monde. Et de confronter ses personnages face \u00e0 la fin de ce monde justement. Que ce soit la mode, le journalisme de magazine ou celui d\u2019investigation. Tout ce(s) monde(s) se voi(en)t menacer de mort dans une \u00e9volution des m\u00e9dias conquise par les r\u00e9seaux sociaux, les clics, les tendances rapides bref un profond changement de comportement de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-27932 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Snapshot_6183.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Snapshot_6183.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Snapshot_6183-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Snapshot_6183-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Snapshot_6183-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>Mais si ses intentions \u00e9taient donc tout \u00e0 fait louables et offrent d\u2019ailleurs quelques beaux d\u00e9veloppements comme une Miranda vuln\u00e9rable et ind\u00e9cise qui se cherche dans ce (pas si meilleur) nouveau monde, le film devient rapidement (et \u00e9tonnamment) ennuyant. La faute \u00e0 une forme (inchang\u00e9e) qui n\u2019\u00e9pouse aucunement ce fond (chamboul\u00e9). \u00ab\u00a0Le Diable s\u2019habille en Prada 2\u00a0\u00bb se coince tout seul dans un entre-deux voulant \u00e0 la fois traiter un sujet d\u2019\u00e9volution (tout l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat d\u2019une suite de plus de vingt ans) et profiter du retour sur investissement de sa recette (\u00e0 l\u2019image du succ\u00e8s d\u2019un film comme \u00ab\u00a0Top Gun\u00a0: Maverick\u00a0\u00bb \u2013 pour le coup tr\u00e8s r\u00e9ussi dans cette dynamique).<\/p><p>R\u00e9sultat, oui les retrouvailles sont sympathiques, oui la derni\u00e8re partie \u00e0 Milan (miroir de la structure du premier film qui se concluait sur la Fashion Week de Paris) est agr\u00e9able. Mais la com\u00e9die est forc\u00e9ment moins pr\u00e9sente au vu des enjeux de survie du magazine, la m\u00e9chancet\u00e9 de Miranda vue sous l\u2019\u0153il de la jeune stagiaire \u2013 qui participait au charme et \u00e0 une dimension assez universelle du premier volet dans la mesure o\u00f9 tout le monde a plus ou moins d\u00e9j\u00e0 connu un horrible boss \u2013 a quasiment disparu dans une intrigue o\u00f9 la mode ne fait (forc\u00e9ment) plus r\u00eaver ses personnages. En soi, pour exploiter pleinement la fibre nostalgique, ce second volet ne pouvait pas d\u00e9velopper une intrigue o\u00f9 l\u2019enjeu est la vente \/ rachat \/ mort du magazine. Car les personnages directement impliqu\u00e9s ne sont pas les assistantes, les couturiers, designers, r\u00e9dacteurs et autres cr\u00e9ateurs. En d\u2019autres mots, une telle intrigue ne se marie pas facilement avec le glamour des robes et la finesse des coutures.<\/p><p>Par cette cruelle r\u00e9plique de Miranda, le film r\u00e9sume donc parfaitement le c\u0153ur de son propre paradoxe. Il veut tellement conserver son cocon nostalgique, qu\u2019il garde l\u2019int\u00e9gralit\u00e9 de son \u00e9quipe (jusqu\u2019aux sc\u00e9naristes, r\u00e9alisateur, chef op\u00e9rateur etc), conserve les m\u00eames personnages principaux dans la m\u00eame hi\u00e9rarchie d\u2019importance et donc conserve \u00e9galement le point de vue de sa protagoniste Andy. Mais le fait est, qu\u2019elle est annexe aux enjeux principaux de l\u2019intrigue o\u00f9 il faut donc ajouter une romance (pas forc\u00e9ment rat\u00e9e, mais quelque peu d\u00e9connect\u00e9e) pour faire d\u2019elle un vrai personnage principal. This does not concern you!\u201d<\/p><p>Miranda\u2019s words to Andy perfectly sum up and clearly lay bare the very heart of the issue with a film like this. As part of this new Hollywood trend of reviving past hits \u2013 as was recently the case with \u201cBlade Runner\u201d or \u201cGladiator\u201d \u2013 \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2\u201d could very well have faced the same problem that affects many of these legacy sequels. But unlike others, it doesn\u2019t rely solely on nostalgia for a film that has since become iconic, wrapped in a superficial plot that ultimately has little to say and merely clones the formula with a few more wrinkles. Here (not only are there no visible wrinkles \u2013 it\u2019s fashion) but above all, and for once, such a sequel ultimately seems quite legitimate because it has something to say.<\/p><p>While the first installment was a learning story about a young intern who, for a time, reveled in her role as a \u201cluxury slave\u201d, playfully poking fun at the cruelty of a tyrannical boss, it was a film that highlighted fashion \u2013 its importance, its influence, and its role in society \u2013 and balanced that with the significance of journalism. A sequel to such a story, twenty years later, must therefore (and rightly so) question the obsolescence of such a world. And confront its characters with the very end of that world. Whether it be fashion, magazine journalism, or investigative journalism. All these worlds find themselves threatened with extinction in a media landscape dominated by social media, clicks, and short-lived trends \u2013 in short, a profound shift in societal behavior.<\/p><p>But while its intentions are certainly honorable and offer some compelling developments \u2013 such as a vulnerable, indecisive Miranda searching for herself in this (not-so-brave) new world \u2013 the film quickly (and surprisingly) becomes boring. The fault lies with an (unchanged) style that does not at all match this (disrupted) substance. \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2\u201d gets stuck in its own middle ground, trying both to tackle a theme of evolution (the whole point of a sequel set twenty years later) and to capitalize on the return on investment from its formula (much like the success of a film like \u201cTop Gun: Maverick\u201d \u2013 which, for that matter, was very good at this).<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-27932 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Snapshot_6183.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Snapshot_6183.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Snapshot_6183-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Snapshot_6183-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Snapshot_6183-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>As a result, yes, bringing back the whole band together is enjoyable, and yes, the final act in Milan (mirroring the structure of the first film, which ended with Paris Fashion Week) is entertaining. But the comedy is inevitably less prominent given the magazine\u2019s struggle for survival; Miranda\u2019s meanness, as seen through the eyes of the young intern \u2013 which contributed to the charm and a fairly universal dimension of the first film, in that everyone has more or less had a horrible boss at some point \u2013 has all but vanished in a plot where fashion (inevitably) no longer inspires its characters. In and of itself, to fully tap into nostalgia, this second installment couldn\u2019t develop a plot where the stakes are the sale, buyout, or demise of the magazine. Because the characters directly involved aren\u2019t the assistants, couturiers, designers, editors, and other creators. In other words, such a plot doesn\u2019t easily lend itself to the glamour of the dresses and the finesse of the tailoring.<\/p><p>Through Miranda\u2019s cruel line, the film perfectly encapsulates the heart of its own paradox. It is so determined to preserve its nostalgic bubble that it brings back the entire original team (including the screenwriters, director, cinematographer, and so on), retains the same main characters in the same pecking order, and thus also sticks with the point of view of its protagonist, Andy. But the fact is, she is secondary to the main plot points, so a romance (not necessarily a bad one, but a somewhat disconnected one) must be added to make her a true main character. In short, while the film does manage to modernize its backdrop, it doesn\u2019t dare to fully focus on its theme, as evidenced by a rather naive and almost counterproductive conclusion featuring a fashion show that the camera lingers on even after the characters have left \u2013 when it would have been more powerful and coherent to stay with them and build up the idea of the show only to
