Nous sommes cette fois sur une plan\u00e8te \u00e9loign\u00e9e dans le monde des gangs locaux et du crime organis\u00e9 lors de l\u2019av\u00e8nement du nouvel empire instaur\u00e9 par son ancien ma\u00eetre Palpatine. Maul y cherche \u00e0 se venger de la trahison des anciens membres du cartel qu\u2019il en \u00e9tait venu \u00e0 diriger sur la fin de la guerre des clones, et se positionne donc dor\u00e9navant \u00e0 la fois comme parrain mafieux qu\u2019ex-seigneur Sith, tout aussi revanchard dans l\u2019une ou l\u2019autre de ses identit\u00e9s cach\u00e9es.<\/p><p>Pour la premi\u00e8re fois dans l\u2019univers d\u2019animation de <em>Star Wars<\/em>, cette nouvelle s\u00e9rie n\u2019introduit pas de nouveaux protagonistes et prolonge plut\u00f4t l\u2019histoire d\u00e9j\u00e0 tr\u00e8s dense d\u2019un personnage d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 dans de multiples films et s\u00e9ries. Elle s\u2019adresse donc \u00e9videmment avant tout aux fans ayant grandi avec \u00ab\u00a0The Clone Wars\u00a0\u00bb mais reste n\u00e9anmoins tout \u00e0 fait accessible aux enfants d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui (en dosant habilement sa violence) et au public n\u2019ayant pas suivi le reste des aventures d\u2019animation (en se concentrant sur de nouveaux enjeux sans s\u2019appuyer sur trop d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments r\u00e9f\u00e9renc\u00e9s). Si les autres s\u00e9ries d\u2019animation de <em>Lucasfilm<\/em> comme l\u2019excellente \u00ab\u00a0Rebels\u00a0\u00bb \u00e9taient plut\u00f4t structur\u00e9es sur un format d\u2019une mission par \u00e9pisode avec une progression de saison en saison de plus en plus mature et moins enfantine, \u00ab\u00a0Shadow Lord\u00a0\u00bb bouleverse ces codes avec une intrigue globale sur l\u2019ensemble de la saison, et un ton d\u00e9j\u00e0 beaucoup plus adulte et sombre d\u00e8s le d\u00e9part.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-27786 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Snapshot_6117.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Snapshot_6117.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Snapshot_6117-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Snapshot_6117-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Snapshot_6117-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>L\u2019animation port\u00e9e par l\u2019\u00e9quipe de Brad Rau (The Bad Batch) et Dave Filoni change aussi profond\u00e9ment des pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes s\u00e9ries dans un style plus \u2018dessin\u2019 qui en met plein la vue entre ses magnifiques couleurs, ses splendides d\u00e9cors en peinture sur cache, et une impressionnante fluidit\u00e9 des personnages beaucoup plus vive qu\u2019avant. \u00ab Shadow Lord \u00bb joue en effet beaucoup sur la vitesse et le dynamisme de ses plans et de ses personnages dans des mouvements de sabre laser qui \u2018collent \u00e0 l\u2019image\u2019 par exemple ou des chor\u00e9graphies martiales tr\u00e8s travaill\u00e9es, notamment dans de superbes encha\u00eenements au sabre laser. Il faut dire qu\u2019au-del\u00e0 des graphismes, la mise en sc\u00e8ne \u00e9pouse v\u00e9ritablement son cadre que ce soit lors des assauts les plus brutaux de Maul o\u00f9 son sabre litt\u00e9ralement crie la rage de ses coups, ou dans une introduction des inquisiteurs imp\u00e9riaux proprement effrayante \u2013 transmettant la sensation que ces personnages procurent autour d\u2019eux. On est sur une vraie petite p\u00e9pite d\u2019animation !<\/p><p>Si la tr\u00e8s courte dur\u00e9e des \u00e9pisodes et de la trame de cette premi\u00e8re saison peut cr\u00e9er un peu de frustration, c\u2019est que l\u2019intrigue a de l\u2019ampleur et qu\u2019elle aurait pu m\u00e9riter plus de temps (que ce soit dans ses magnifiques environnements ou dans ses p\u00e9rip\u00e9ties). On est sur une intrigue criminelle qui m\u00eale \u00e9galement implication imp\u00e9riale et manipulation Sith. C\u2019est l\u2019histoire d\u2019un personnage qui affronte le c\u00f4t\u00e9 obscur \u00e0 l\u2019aide du c\u00f4t\u00e9 obscur, dans les pas de son propre ma\u00eetre jusque dans la strat\u00e9gie qu\u2019il applique \u00e0 son univers criminel. Il y provoque un conflit entre deux parties d\u00e9j\u00e0 sous tension pour \u00e9liminer l\u2019une des deux et s\u2019accaparer plus de pouvoir. Maul s\u2019oppose ainsi \u00e0 l\u2019Empire dans un combat qui rejoint en principe celui des Jedi, mais qu\u2019il choisit de mener avec col\u00e8re, rage et agressivit\u00e9. Les armes des Sith. Et c\u2019est l\u00e0 le c\u0153ur de cette s\u00e9rie\u00a0: o\u00f9 un tel combat, aussi noble soit-il, peut-il mener \u00e0 travers les tourments de la haine\u00a0? Les points de vue du policier local (Wagner Moura) et de deux Jedi en fuite tiraill\u00e9s entre leurs principes et leur vie de cavale offrent alors une perspective ext\u00e9rieure sur cette pente glissante qu\u2019est le c\u00f4t\u00e9 obscur, efficace pour lutter contre les oppresseurs mais qui enferme rapidement dans un monde de monstres.<\/p><p>Les enseignements d\u2019un tel personnage principal sont alors tout aussi v\u00e9ridiques que sa philosophie est erron\u00e9e. Toute l\u2019ambivalence d\u2019une telle intrigue se trouve ainsi dans cette captivante exploration d\u2019un m\u00e9chant qu\u2019il faut pouvoir rendre s\u00e9duisant et charismatique sans toutefois le glorifier. The setting this time is a distant planet in the world of local gangs and organized crime, during the early days of the newly established Empire under his former master, Palpatine. Maul is seeking revenge for the betrayal of the former members of the cartel he had come to lead toward the end of the Clone Wars, and thus now positions himself as both a mafia godfather and an ex-Sith Lord, equally vengeful in either of his shadow identities.<\/p><p>For the first time in the <em>Star Wars<\/em> animated universe, this new series does not introduce new protagonists but instead expands on the already rich backstory of a character who has appeared in numerous films and shows. It is therefore obviously geared primarily toward fans who grew up with \u201cThe Clone Wars\u201d, but remains entirely accessible to kids today (by carefully calibrating its violence) and to audiences who haven\u2019t followed the rest of the animated stories (by focusing on new storylines without overrelying on fan service). While other <em>Lucasfilm<\/em> animated series, such as the excellent \u201cRebels,\u201d were structured around a one-mission-per-episode format, with the series becoming increasingly mature and less childish from season to season, \u201cShadow Lord\u201d breaks with these rules by offering an overarching plot that spans the entire season, along with a tone that is much more adult and dark from the very start.<\/p><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-27794 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Snapshot_6125.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Snapshot_6125.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Snapshot_6125-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Snapshot_6125-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Snapshot_6125-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>The animation, crafted by Dave Filoni and Brad Rau\u2019s team (The Bad Batch), also marks a significant departure from previous series, adopting a more graphic style that\u2019s a real visual delight, featuring gorgeous colors, stunning matte-painted backgrounds, and an impressive fluidity in the characters\u2019 movements that\u2019s far more dynamic than before. \u201cShadow Lord\u201d indeed makes great use of the speed and dynamism of its shots and characters, such as lightsaber movements that seem to \u201cbleed onto the frame\u201d or highly elaborate martial choreography, particularly in spectacular lightsaber sequences. It must be said that beyond the artwork, the direction truly embraces its atmosphere, whether during Maul\u2019s most brutal assaults where his lightsaber literally screams the rage of his blows, or in a genuinely terrifying introduction to the Imperial Inquisitors \u2013 conveying the sense of dread these characters instill in those around them. We\u2019re really looking at a little gem of animation here!<\/p><p>While the very short runtime of the episodes and the overall arc of this first season may be a bit frustrating, it\u2019s because the plot is expansive and could have used more time (whether in its magnificent locations or its exciting storylines). It&rsquo;s a crime story that also blends Imperial involvement and Sith manipulation. It&rsquo;s the story of a character who fights the dark side with the dark side, following in his own master&rsquo;s footsteps right down to the strategy he applies to his criminal empire. He stirs up conflict between two factions already at odds to eliminate one of them and seize more power. Maul takes on the Empire in a fight that is similar in principle to that of the Jedi, but one he chooses to wage with anger, rage, and aggression. The weapons of the Sith. And this is the soul of the series: where can such a struggle, noble as it may be, lead through the torments of hatred? The perspectives of the local police officer (Wagner Moura) and two fugitive Jedi torn between their values and their life on the run offer insight into the slippery slope that is the dark side \u2013 effective as a weapon against oppressors, yet soon trapping those who wield it in a world where everyone\u2019s the monster.<\/p><p>The lessons taught by such a main character are just as true as his philosophy is flawed. The ambivalence of this plot therefore lies in this captivating exploration of a villain who must be portrayed as seductive and magnetic without, however, glorifying him. Thanks to its carefully crafted and well-executed art direction that blends the red and black hues of vengeance, \u201cShadow Lord\u201d delivers a dark, intense, and violent first season that
