longueur n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 nous conter la d\u00e9sireuse ambition du jeune Lucien sous les arcs sombres de nos soci\u00e9t\u00e9s pr\u00e9-lib\u00e9rales.<\/p><p>Portrait f\u00e9roce des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s de l\u2019\u00e9poque et de la presse Xavier Giannoli, r\u00e9alisateur du film n\u2019h\u00e9site pas \u00e0 multiplier les allusions \u00e0 notre pr\u00e9sent, d\u00e9guisant par instant son film tel un manifeste face \u00e0 la m\u00e9sinformation constante de nos soci\u00e9t\u00e9s. Comme l\u2019annonce la phrase du personnage de Vincent Lacoste, \u00ab le journal prendra pour vrai tout ce qui est probable. \u00bb, l\u2019information est \u00e0 la merci de l\u2019argent et de la course au profit. Le m\u00e9tier de journaliste n\u2019est alors plus d\u2019informer, mais de satisfaire les actionnaires. Le vrai n\u2019int\u00e9resse pas, c\u2019est le bruit qui attire.<\/p><p>Face \u00e0 un manque cruel de temps, d\u00fb certainement \u00e0 un standard de production le long-m\u00e9trage prive ses personnages d\u2019une r\u00e9elle profondeur les soustrayant ainsi aux marques du temps, marques indissociables du livre. Le film reste donc accroch\u00e9 \u00e0 une r\u00e9alisation r\u00e9pondant aux standards de l\u2019adaptation litt\u00e9raire. Le classique r\u00e9side ici dans le montage autant que dans le cadre et c\u2019est pourtant \u00e0 eux de nous en \u00e9carter. Si le film parvient \u00e0 traduire cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9 du bruit, il oublie cependant d\u2019accorder \u00e0 ses plans et le silence et le temps.<\/p><p>Si la reconstitution historique semble remarquable, c\u2019est la performance de ses com\u00e9diens qui nous plonge avec une certaine froideur dans la fresque balzacienne. Benjamin Voisin incarne avec sublime le h\u00e9ros balzacien dans toute sa profondeur. \u00c0 ses c\u00f4t\u00e9s Vincent Lacoste prend les traits d\u2019\u00c9tienne Lousteau, r\u00e9dacteur en chef d\u2019un journal de l\u2019opposition et \u00e9crivain frustr\u00e9. Salom\u00e9 Dewaels interpr\u00e8te Coralie, une com\u00e9dienne de Boulevard qui repr\u00e9sente cette barri\u00e8re sociale incarn\u00e9e par l\u2019humiliation. Xavier Dolan pr\u00eate quant \u00e0 lui sa voix au narrateur de l\u2019histoire, l\u2019\u00e9crivain Raoul Nathan.<\/p><p>Dans une critique ac\u00e9r\u00e9e de la critique elle-m\u00eame, Xavier Giannoli met \u00e0 mal la toute-puissance de la pol\u00e9mique dans une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 o\u00f9 une simple r\u00e9partie supplante \u00e0 elle seule un solide argumentaire. As the sentence of Vincent Lacoste&rsquo;s character announces, \u00ab\u00a0the newspaper will take as true everything that is probable\u00a0\u00bb, information is at the mercy of money and the race for profit. The journalist&rsquo;s job is no longer to inform, but to please the shareholders. The true is not interesting, it is the noise that attracts.<\/p><p>Faced with a cruel lack of time, certainly due to a production standard, the feature film deprives its characters of real depth, thus removing them from the marks of time, marks that are inseparable from the book. The film therefore remains attached to a style that meets the standards of literature adaptation. The classic lies here in the editing as much as in the setting and it is however up to them to keep us away from it. If the film succeeds in translating this society of noise, it forgets to give its shots silence and time.<\/p><p>If the historical reconstruction seems remarkable, it is the performance of its actors that immerses us with a certain coldness in the Balzacian fresco. Benjamin Voisin sublimely embodies the Balzacian hero in all his depth. At his side Vincent Lacoste takes on the features of Etienne Lousteau, editor of an opposition newspaper and frustrated writer. Salom\u00e9 Dewaels plays Coralie, an actress from Boulevard who represents the social barrier of humiliation. Xavier Dolan gives his voice to the story&rsquo;s narrator, the writer Raoul Nathan.<\/p><p>In a sharp critique of the critics themselves, Xavier Giannoli challenges the omnipotence of polemics in a society where a simple repartee alone supersedes a solid argument.
