confins m\u00e9ridionaux de l\u2019Azerba\u00efdjan, se trouve le village recul\u00e9 de S\u0131m. C\u2019est l\u00e0 que vit Samid, un homme \u00e2g\u00e9 qui ne r\u00eave que d\u2019une chose : r\u00e9habiliter le petit cin\u00e9ma communal en y projetant \u00e0 nouveau des films. Accompagn\u00e9 du jeune Ayaz, \u00e9tudiant en animation \u00e0 Bakou, Samid va \u0153uvrer \u00e0 cette t\u00e2che, bravant l\u2019isolement.<\/p><p>Tourn\u00e9 sur plus de deux ans par p\u00e9riodes de quelques jours, \u00ab Le Retour du Projectionniste \u00bb dresse le portrait de toute une communaut\u00e9 montagnarde \u00e0 travers celui d\u2019un homme solitaire, nostalgique de son m\u00e9tier. Per\u00e7u comme un excentrique par ses proches et ses voisins \u00e0 cause de son insistance \u00e0 vouloir reprojeter des films malgr\u00e9 toutes les emb\u00fbches et les nombreux \u00e9checs, Samid va pourtant jusqu\u2019au bout \u2013 et ce pour le plus grand plaisir du village.<\/p><p>Le r\u00e9cit est ainsi sinc\u00e8rement touchant, parce qu\u2019outre cette plong\u00e9e dans l\u2019hyper-ruralit\u00e9 de S\u0131m o\u00f9 l\u2019on d\u00e9couvre certains \u00e9l\u00e9ments des cultures az\u00e9ries et talyches (notamment la f\u00eate de Norouz), l\u2019histoire transmet la profonde et solide amiti\u00e9 qui lie Samid et Ayaz. Tous les deux sont unis par leur m\u00eame passion pour le cin\u00e9ma et collaborent sur plusieurs projets techniques et artistiques, de la r\u00e9paration de projecteurs \u00e0 la conception de films d\u2019animation, sans oublier bien s\u00fbr la r\u00e9ouverture d\u2019une salle de projection et tout ce que cela implique sur le plan mat\u00e9riel.<\/p><p>Berc\u00e9 de nostalgie et d\u2019espoir, le film est aussi ponctu\u00e9 de sc\u00e8nes marquantes, qu\u2019elles soient comiques (les recherches de r\u00e9seau Internet), \u00e9tonnantes (la concertation des \u2018Sages\u2019), ou \u00e9mouvantes (le voyage \u00e0 Bakou). De sorte que des images et des instants restent en t\u00eate bien apr\u00e8s le visionnage. This is where Samid lives, an elderly man who dreams of only one thing: restoring the small community cinema so that films can be shown there once again. With the help of Ayaz, a young animation student from Baku, Samid sets about this task, braving the isolation.<\/p><p>Filmed over two years in periods of a few days at a time, \u201cThe Return of the Projectionist\u201d portrays an entire mountain community through the story of a lonely man who is nostalgic for his profession. Perceived as eccentric by his family and neighbors because of his insistence on showing films again despite all the obstacles and numerous failures, Samid nevertheless sees his project through to the end \u2013 much to the delight of the village.<\/p><p>The story is genuinely touching because, in addition to taking us deep into the hyper-rural world of S\u0131m, where we discover certain elements of Azeri and Talysh cultures (such as the Nowruz holiday), it conveys the deep and solid friendship between Samid and Ayaz. The two are bound together by their shared passion for cinema and collaborate on several technical and artistic projects, from repairing projectors to designing animated films, not to mention, of course, reopening a movie theater and everything that entails in terms of equipment.<\/p><p>Filled with nostalgia and hope, the film is also marked by memorable scenes, whether comical (searching for an internet connection), surprising (the deliberations of the \u2018Wise\u2019), or moving (the trip to Baku). As a result, images and moments linger in the mind long after viewing. And what is most fascinating about this film is that, in reality, it is not even fiction, even though everything seems to be perfectly staged \u2013 at least within the limits of the director&rsquo;s available resources. \u201cThe Return of the Projectionist\u201d is therefore both an ode to and a <em>mise en abyme<\/em> of cinema, reminding us that movies bring people together and unite
