Tel est le point de d\u00e9part du nouveau film de Rebecca Zlotowski abordant le d\u00e9sir de maternit\u00e9 et les complexit\u00e9s de la famille recompos\u00e9e. La r\u00e9alisatrice de \u00ab Grand Central \u00bb, de \u00ab Une fille facile \u00bb et de \u00ab Les sauvages \u00bb int\u00e8gre toujours sa vie intime dans son travail et c\u2019est \u00e0 ce jour son film le plus personnel port\u00e9 par un regard moderne sur son engagement f\u00e9ministe, son deuil et les enjeux de maternit\u00e9. Changeant \u00e0 chaque fois de sujet et de mise en sc\u00e8ne, elle emprunte cette fois au cin\u00e9ma de Claude Sautet et puise dans ses sentiments mais conserve son esth\u00e9tique \u00e9rotique de la chair au rouge \u00e0 l\u00e8vres.<\/p><p>R\u00e9cemment pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 \u00e0 la Mostra de Venise, \u00ab Les Enfants des Autres \u00bb est un beau et honn\u00eate portrait d\u2019une femme qui se prend d\u2019affection pour la fille de son nouveau compagnon, un film \u00e0 la fois tendre, attachant et sensible. En mettant en sc\u00e8ne une belle-m\u00e8re aimante, la sc\u00e9nariste de la F\u00e9mis et agr\u00e9g\u00e9e de Lettres modernes place sur le devant de la sc\u00e8ne un personnage habituellement secondaire et nous interroge sur les difficult\u00e9s de trouver sa place dans un nid cr\u00e9\u00e9 par d\u2019autres et qu\u2019il est difficile de ne pas d\u00e9truire sans apporter ses propres brindilles.<\/p><p>Elle m\u00eale son exp\u00e9rience personnelle \u00e0 travers ses parents, sa jud\u00e9it\u00e9 et sa propre maternit\u00e9 confront\u00e9e \u00e0 son horloge biologique, \u00e0 une r\u00e9flexion tr\u00e8s gorkienne o\u00f9 la Femme peut \u00eatre m\u00e8re de tous les enfants. Ce don port\u00e9 vers les enfants des autres est d\u2019autant plus caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 par la profession de son personnage principal qui enseigne dans un lyc\u00e9e professionnel et a pour mission de transmettre et d\u2019accompagner les\/ses enfants dans leur parcours \u00e9ducatif et leur propre envol.<\/p><p>Apr\u00e8s l\u2019avoir vu dans un r\u00f4le cathartique dans \u00ab Revoir Paris \u00bb nous retrouvons une Virginie Efira excellente dans un personnage naturel, doux mais aussi vuln\u00e9rable. Aussi prolifique que talentueuse, l\u2019actrice porte ce film aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s d\u2019un Roschdy Zem et d\u2019une jeune Callie Ferreira-Goncalves tr\u00e8s convaincants.<\/p><p>Mais le r\u00e9cit est en effet int\u00e9gralement centr\u00e9 sur son point de vue \u00e0 tel point que les autres personnages font presque figure de figuration et n\u2019enrichissent pas vraiment le propos. Les dialogues partag\u00e9s par le jeune couple sont ainsi souvent des monologues d\u00e9guis\u00e9s, ce n\u2019est clairement pas l\u2019histoire d\u2019un couple ou d\u2019une famille recompos\u00e9e mais bien celle d\u2019une femme traversant cette \u00e9preuve. La premi\u00e8re partie du film rassemble ainsi plusieurs sc\u00e8nes de la vie quotidienne o\u00f9 nous pouvons certes tous nous reconna\u00eetre et nous identifier aux personnages mais le r\u00e9cit peine alors \u00e0 nous captiver. Certes nous avons tous \u00e9t\u00e9 concern\u00e9s par cette banalit\u00e9 merveilleuse des pr\u00e9misses amoureux, mais le fait est que le r\u00e9cit se retrouve orphelin d\u2019un v\u00e9ritable enjeu. This is the starting point of Rebecca Zlotowski&rsquo;s new film about the desire for motherhood and the intricacies of a stepfamily. The director of \u201cGrand Central\u201d, \u201cAn Easy Girl\u201d and \u201cSavages\u201d always incorporates her intimate life into her work and this is her most personal film to date with a modern take on her feminist commitment, grief and motherhood issues. Changing each time her subject and mise en sc\u00e8ne, this time she borrows from the Claude Sautet&rsquo;s cinema and draws from her feelings but still keeps her erotic aesthetics from pulp to lipstick.<\/p><p>Recently presented at the Venice Film Festival, \u201cOther People&rsquo;s Children\u201d is a beautiful and honest portrait of a woman who grows fond of her new partner&rsquo;s daughter, a film that is both tender, endearing and sensitive. By portraying a loving mother-in-law, the screenwriter from the F\u00e9mis and graduate in modern literature brings to the forefront a character who is usually secondary and asks us about the difficulties of finding one&rsquo;s place in a nest created by others and which it is difficult not to destroy without bringing one&rsquo;s own twigs.<\/p><p>She mixes her personal experience through her parents, her Jewishness and her own motherhood confronted with the race against menopause, with a very Gorkian reflection where the Woman can be mother of all children. This gift towards the children of others is further characterized by the profession of her main character who teaches in a technical high school and carries out the mission of transmitting and accompanying the children in their educational journey and their own take-off.<\/p><p>After having seen her in a cathartic role in \u201cParis Memories\u201d we find an excellent Virginie Efira in a natural, sweet but also vulnerable character. As prolific as she is talented, the actress carries this film alongside Roschdy Zem and a young Callie Ferreira-Goncalves both very convincing.<\/p><p>But the story is indeed entirely centered on her point of view, so much so that the other characters are almost extras and do not really enrich the story. The dialogues shared by the young couple are often disguised monologues, this is clearly not the story of a couple or of a blended family but of a woman going through this challenge. The first part of the film gathers several scenes of everyday life where we can certainly all recognize ourselves and identify with the characters but the story struggles to captivate us. Of course, we have all been concerned by this wonderful banality of the premise of love, but the fact is that the story is left without a real stake. The epilogue insists moreover on the educational dimension of this character without having really developed this aspect which only came to support the main plot and her desire to be a mother.<\/p><p>Praised by the critics, \u201cOther People\u2019s Children\u201d tackles a subject rarely treated like this in cinema and benefits from a polished making, but finally fades into a
