Dans la Brume ; My Joy) nous replonge en URSS en pleine \u00e9poque stalinienne, en 1937 lors de la Grande Terreur lorsque le NKVD avait des quotas d\u2019incarc\u00e9ration pour tous les \u00e9l\u00e9ments \u2018anti-sovi\u00e9tiques\u2019. \u00c9liminant ainsi la fine fleur du Parti, les purges staliniennes aboutirent dans cette ann\u00e9e noire \u00e0 plus de 750 000 ex\u00e9cutions et 1 million de d\u00e9portations au Goulag \u2026<\/p><p>A cette \u00e9poque, les lettres des d\u00e9tenus sont \u00e9videmment br\u00fbl\u00e9es sur place, les privant de leur droit (bolch\u00e9vique) de plainte et de recours, mais l\u2019une d\u2019entre elle finit sur le bureau d\u2019un jeune procureur local de la r\u00e9gion de Briansk (\u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re ukrainienne) fra\u00eechement nomm\u00e9. Partant de ce postulat, \u00ab Deux Procureurs \u00bb s\u2019impose comme la plong\u00e9e, dans un r\u00e9gime totalitaire qui ne dit pas son nom, d\u2019un homme victime de son id\u00e9alisme r\u00e9volutionnaire ou de ce que l\u2019on verrait aujourd\u2019hui comme de la na\u00efvet\u00e9 et formidablement interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 par un Aleksandr Kuznetsov au visage juv\u00e9nile et candide aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s d\u2019Aleksandr Filippenko et d\u2019Anatoli Bely \u2013 soit trois acteurs russes exil\u00e9s respectivement en Grande-Bretagne, en Lituanie et en Isra\u00ebl depuis 2022. Tourn\u00e9 en Lettonie et pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 cette ann\u00e9e \u00e0 Cannes, c\u2019est un film \u00e2pre qui joue de ses nombreux dialogues et temps d\u2019attente pour faire peser \u00e0 travers son rythme lent, toute l\u2019absurdit\u00e9 d\u2019un syst\u00e8me autoritaire qui va jusqu\u2019\u00e0 se priver de ses plus fid\u00e8les serviteurs pour ne pas \u00e9branler sa propre l\u00e9gitimit\u00e9, se vouant ainsi lui-m\u00eame \u00e0 dispara\u00eetre.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-24053 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Snapshot_5013.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Snapshot_5013.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Snapshot_5013-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Snapshot_5013-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Snapshot_5013-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>D\u2019une beaut\u00e9 simple et limpide, le film r\u00e9ussit une reconstitution d\u2019\u00e9poque de qualit\u00e9 malgr\u00e9 des d\u00e9cors limit\u00e9s avec seulement deux petites sc\u00e8nes d\u2019ext\u00e9rieur et des int\u00e9rieurs tr\u00e8s minimalistes. Mais il transmet v\u00e9ritablement une atmosph\u00e8re \u00e0 travers sa photographie froide et terne nimb\u00e9e d\u2019une belle lumi\u00e8re sans la moindre couleur vive. Cette succession d\u2019int\u00e9rieurs donne une impression de huis-clos dont on ne sort jamais et dont le format resserr\u00e9 en 4\/3 renforce d\u2019autant plus ce sentiment d\u2019oppression. Grand metteur en sc\u00e8ne de l\u2019espace, Loznitsa transforme ses d\u00e9cors en labyrinthes infernaux o\u00f9 il n\u2019y aucune ligne de fuite, pas de perspective, pas d\u2019\u00e9chapp\u00e9e\u00a0: une v\u00e9ritable g\u00e9om\u00e9trie kafka\u00efenne d\u2019un univers sans issue.<\/p><p>S\u2019il illustre parfaitement le vrai d\u00e9dale de barreaux que repr\u00e9sente l\u2019administration d\u2019un \u00c9tat autoritaire, \u00ab Deux Procureurs \u00bb marque aussi pour l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9gance de ses cadres exclusivement tourn\u00e9s en plans fixes dont l\u2019immobilit\u00e9 renforce \u00e0 la fois la lourdeur du m\u00e9canisme administratif et juridique, mais aussi l\u2019aspect fig\u00e9 et sans vie d\u2019un tel \u00c9tat. Eliminating the finest members of the Party, Stalin&rsquo;s mass purges resulted in more than 750,000 executions and 1 million deportations to the Gulag during that dark year&#8230;<\/p><p>At that time, prisoners&rsquo; letters were obviously burned on the spot, thereby denying them their (Bolshevik) right to complain and appeal, but one of them ended up somehow on the desk of a young, newly appointed local prosecutor in the Bryansk region (neighboring Ukraine). Based on this premise, \u201cTwo Prosecutors\u201d stands out as a deep dive into a totalitarian regime that does not say its name, featuring a man who is a victim of his revolutionary idealism or what we would today consider naivety, brilliantly played by Aleksandr Kuznetsov with his youthful and candid face, alongside Aleksandr Filippenko and Anatoli Bely \u2013 three Russian actors who have been in exile in Great Britain, Lithuania, and Israel, respectively, since 2022. Shot in Latvia and presented at Cannes this year, this is a harsh film that uses its numerous dialogues and moments of waiting to convey, through its slow pace, the absurdity of an authoritarian system that goes so far as to deprive itself of its most loyal servants in order not to undermine its own legitimacy, thus condemning itself to extinction.<\/p><p>With its simple, limpid beauty, the film successfully recreates the period despite limited sets, with only two small exterior scenes and very minimalist interiors. But it truly conveys an atmosphere through its cold, dull photography bathed in beautiful light without the slightest hint of bright color. This succession of interiors gives the impression of a closed space from which there is no escape, and the tight 1:33 aspect ratio further intensifies this feeling of oppression. As a great director of space, Loznitsa shapes his sets into hellish mazes where there&rsquo;s no escape route, no perspective, no way out: a real Kafkaesque geometry of a hopeless world.<\/p><p>While perfectly illustrating the true labyrinth of bars that make up the administration of an authoritarian state, \u201cTwo Prosecutors\u201d also stands out for the elegance of its frames, shot exclusively in static shots whose immobility emphasizes both the heaviness of the administrative and legal apparatus and the frozen, lifeless aspect of such a state. Sober and chilling, this is a film that brings history to life and comes full circle in a circular, grim tale that is perfectly encapsulated in one line: \u00ab\u00a0Two Bolsheviks remember their youth:<\/p><p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What were you doing before the revolution?<\/p><p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I was waiting in prison.<\/p><p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And after the
