L\u2019intrigue y est encore une fois tr\u00e8s rythm\u00e9e, tr\u00e8s press\u00e9e m\u00eame, dans un premier \u00e9pisode qui doit g\u00e9rer les cons\u00e9quences de la surprise finale de la pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente saison pour conclure \u00e0 son tour sur un nouveau gros <em>cliffhanger<\/em> embarquant l\u2019histoire dans une nouvelle direction. Dans un retour au format \u00e0 huit \u00e9pisodes, cette saison 3 conserve donc sa narration au style v\u00e9ritablement propre \u00e0 <em>Netflix<\/em>, toujours port\u00e9e par un excellent casting. Mais si ce cadre ou ce formatage <em>Netflix<\/em> fonctionne toujours aussi efficacement pour nous faire consommer la s\u00e9rie toujours aussi vite, les ingr\u00e9dients de cette bonne recette ne sont plus aussi savoureux\u00a0!<\/p><p>Dans une intrigue plus politique (S1) qu\u2019investigatrice (S2) en se focalisant notamment sur l\u2019administration am\u00e9ricaine de Washington, et avec l\u2019introduction d\u2019Allison Janney et Bradley Whitford, \u00ab\u00a0The Diplomat\u00a0\u00bb revendique d\u2019autant plus dans cette troisi\u00e8me saison sa filiation directe \u00e0 la s\u00e9rie \u00ab\u00a0A la Maison Blanche\u00a0\u00bb avec laquelle elle partage le go\u00fbt des r\u00e9pliques mordantes, des dialogues \u00e0 cent \u00e0 l\u2019heure et des personnages extr\u00eamement comp\u00e9tents. Mais la diplomatie a d\u00e9sormais un peu disparu de la trame, rel\u00e9gu\u00e9e \u00e0 un \u00e9l\u00e9ment secondaire ou comme pr\u00e9texte pour d\u00e9velopper d\u2019autres formes de n\u00e9gociations\u00a0: celles qui s\u2019op\u00e8rent au sein du couple Kate &amp; Hal (Keri Russel &amp; Rufus Sewell) dans un divorce secret qui doit continuer \u00e0 collaborer ensemble pour l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat public.<\/p><p>Si ce prisme fonctionne avec toujours d\u2019excellents dialogues entre les deux personnages pour aboutir sur un superbe <em>cliffhanger<\/em> de fin de saison (probablement d\u2019ailleurs le meilleur des trois, car le moins sorti de nulle part), c\u2019est malheureusement le seul fil narratif v\u00e9ritablement d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 tout au long de cette saison 3. Si d\u00e8s le d\u00e9part la s\u00e9rie partait sur de grands sujets et de grands enjeux, certes simplifi\u00e9s, elle restait n\u00e9anmoins coh\u00e9rente et cr\u00e9dible sur le fond. C\u2019est comme si elle red\u00e9marrait alors une nouvelle saison en plein milieu en lan\u00e7ant de nouvelles pistes et en introduisant notamment un nouveau personnage principal qui s\u2019av\u00e8re \u00e0 la fois conseiller politique, agent secret, ex militaire et amant, bref c\u2019est le cumul des mandats hollywoodien. Les sujets manquent dans cette nouvelle intrigue qui repose sur une histoire de chantage aboutissant \u00e0 un schisme diplomatique tonitruant. En d\u2019autres termes, de simples ou\u00ef-dire aux proportions gigantesques.<\/p><p>Le socle diplomatique de l\u2019intrigue ne tient tout simplement plus la route et ne rend donc pas l\u2019ensemble aussi int\u00e9ressant et plaisant que dans les deux pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes saisons. Certes l\u2019utilisation du drone Pos\u00e9idon dans l\u2019intrigue d\u00e9montre une actualisation remarquable du sc\u00e9nario, et le d\u00e9veloppement entre Eidra et Stuart r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 \u00eatre toujours aussi attachant, mais ils restent des personnages secondaires d\u00e9montrant bel et bien la perte d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat de la trame principale. Dans l\u2019ensemble, on retient seulement trois bons \u00e9pisodes sur huit (le premier, le dernier et un judicieux huis-clos sur un week-end de gestion de crise dans un chalet pr\u00e9sidentiel) dans une saison qui conserve les qualit\u00e9s formelles d\u2019une s\u00e9rie qui ne convainc plus autant son \u00e9lectorat\u00a0!<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Rapha\u00ebl Sallenave<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-42480e6 elementor-widget__width-initial exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"42480e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><p>This third season finds the American ambassador in London at the heart of a new political crisis. Once again, the plot is fast-paced, even hasty, in a first episode that has to deal with the consequences of the previous season&rsquo;s surprise ending, only to close with another major cliffhanger that takes the story in a whole new direction. Returning to an eight-episode format, season 3 retains its <em>Netflix<\/em>-style storytelling, driven by an excellent cast. But while this <em>Netflix<\/em> framework or formula still works effectively in getting us to eat up the series just as quickly, the ingredients of this winning recipe are no longer as tasty!<\/p><p>With a plot that is more political (S1) than investigative (S2), focusing in particular on the US administration in Washington, and with the addition of Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford, \u201cThe Diplomat\u201d asserts all the more in this third season its direct lineage to the series \u201cThe West Wing,\u201d with which it shares a flair for sharp retorts, fast-paced dialogue, and extremely competent characters. But diplomacy has now somewhat disappeared from the plot, relegated to a secondary element or a mere pretext for developing other forms of negotiation: namely, those taking place within the couple Kate &amp; Hal (Keri Russell &amp; Rufus Sewell) in a secret divorce who must keep working together for the public interest.<\/p><p>While this perspective works well, with consistently great dialogue between the two characters culminating in a fantastic season finale cliffhanger (probably the best of the three, as it feels the least out of nowhere), it is unfortunately the only narrative thread that is truly developed throughout season 3. While the series started out tackling big topics and issues, albeit simplified, it nevertheless remained consistent and credible in terms of content. Here, it is just messy.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-23892 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Snapshot_4981.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Snapshot_4981.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Snapshot_4981-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Snapshot_4981-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Snapshot_4981-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>Season 3 is in fact clearly divided into two parts, both chronologically and narratively, with a midseason break introduced after dealing with the political consequences of season 2. It&rsquo;s as if it were starting a new season right in the middle, throwing out new storylines and introducing a new main character who turns out to be both a political advisor, secret agent, ex-military man, and lover \u2013 in other words, the Hollywood equivalent of wearing many hats. There is simply a lack of substance in this new plot, which is based on a blackmail story leading to a thunderous diplomatic schism. In other words, mere hearsay of gigantic proportions.<\/p><p>The diplomatic basis of the plot simply no longer holds up, and therefore does not make the whole thing as interesting and enjoyable as in the previous two seasons. Admittedly, the use of the Poseidon drone in the plot demonstrates a remarkable up-to-date script, and the development between Eidra and Stuart manages to remain as endearing as ever, but they remain supporting characters, clearly illustrating the loss of interest in the main storyline. Overall, there are only three good episodes out of eight (the first one, the last one, and a clever closed-door episode about a weekend of crisis management in a presidential chalet) in a season that retains the formulaic qualities of a series that no longer wins over its constituency!<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Rapha\u00ebl Sallenave<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section
