The Way Back) revient au format de la mini-s\u00e9rie pour y transformer \u00e0 nouveau un polar en un drame intime, en livrant le portrait de deux anti-h\u00e9ros faillibles dans une fresque humaine qui mise plus sur la subtilit\u00e9 et la psychologie que sur le spectaculaire.<\/p><p>Si l\u2019histoire d\u00e9veloppe un bon thriller tendu, elle ne bouleverse n\u00e9anmoins pas les codes dans son intrigue m\u00ealant braquages, trafic de drogue et vengeance, autour de flics locaux et f\u00e9d\u00e9raux ou d\u2019un gang de bikers. Mais elle impressionne dans sa construction narrative racont\u00e9e \u00e0 travers deux regards oppos\u00e9s et qui pourtant se refl\u00e8tent. La structure de la s\u00e9rie repose en effet sur un jeu de miroir et de parall\u00e8les entre ses deux protagonistes, l\u2019un agent du FBI au placard qui va devoir revenir sur le devant de la sc\u00e8ne en constituant une \u2018Task Force\u2019, et l\u2019autre \u00e9boueur devenu braqueur et entra\u00een\u00e9 dans une spirale vengeresse. Deux protagonistes aimants mais perdus, deux personnages hant\u00e9s par une trag\u00e9die familiale, deux p\u00e8res de famille en perte de rep\u00e8res avec leurs enfants, n\u2019ayant plus leur femme sur qui se reposer, et qui font tous deux des choix difficiles pour offrir une meilleure vie \u00e0 leurs proches.<\/p><p>La force du r\u00e9cit r\u00e9side ainsi plus dans cette peinture de deux familles dysfonctionnelles qui se font \u00e9cho que dans l\u2019enqu\u00eate polici\u00e8re en elle-m\u00eame, d\u2019autant que le sc\u00e9nario y int\u00e8gre des intrigues secondaires tout aussi int\u00e9ressantes et touchantes que la principale. La s\u00e9rie s\u2019ouvre et se conclut sur ses personnages, et ne se r\u00e9duit donc pas \u00e0 son intrigue polici\u00e8re dans un sc\u00e9nario qui humanise et nuance tous ses personnages, des criminels tiraill\u00e9s par les doutes et une conscience malmen\u00e9e, aux agents f\u00e9d\u00e9raux loin de l\u2019image des flics d\u2019\u00e9lite : l\u2019institution est travers\u00e9e de failles et compos\u00e9e de membres vuln\u00e9rables \u00e0 l\u2019image de cette \u2018Task Force\u2019 qui ressemble plus \u00e0 une \u00e9quipe de marginaux qu\u2019\u00e0 une machine implacable. Tout au long de sept \u00e9pisodes remarquablement homog\u00e8nes, sur une belle bande son et au gr\u00e9 d\u2019un rythme calme, cette esth\u00e9tique soign\u00e9e et r\u00e9aliste installe une atmosph\u00e8re myst\u00e9rieuse qui colle \u00e0 la peau de personnages saisissants de justesse et d\u2019\u00e9paisseur. Remarquablement interpr\u00e9t\u00e9s par l\u2019ensemble d\u2019un excellent casting attachant et habit\u00e9, \u00ab\u00a0Task\u00a0\u00bb transmet l\u2019angoisse, l\u2019amour et la culpabilit\u00e9 \u00e0 travers le regard et la d\u00e9marche d\u2019un acteur que l\u2019on voit peu, Tom Pelphrey (Iron Fist\u00a0; Ozark\u00a0; Un homme, un vrai) et de Mark Ruffalo (Dark Waters\u00a0; Shutter Island\u00a0; Spotlight) dans l\u2019un de ses meilleurs r\u00f4les. But it impresses with its narrative structure, told through two opposing yet mirrored perspectives. The structure of the series is indeed based on a play of mirrors and parallels between its two protagonists, one a retired FBI agent who has to return to the spotlight by setting up a task force, and the other a garbage collector turned robber who is caught up in a spiral of revenge. Two loving but lost protagonists, two characters haunted by family tragedy, two fathers who have lost their bearings with their children, no longer have their wives to rely on, and who both make tough choices to provide a better life for their loved ones.<\/p><p>The strength of the narrative therefore lies more in its depiction of two dysfunctional families that mirror each other than in the police investigation itself, especially since the script adds subplots that are just as interesting and touching as the main storyline. The series opens and closes with its characters, and is therefore not limited to its police case in a script that humanizes and nuances all its characters, from criminals torn by doubts and a troubled conscience, to federal agents far from the image of elite cops: the institution is riddled with flaws and made up of vulnerable members, as is the \u2018Task Force\u2019, which resembles a team of misfits more than a relentless machine. Throughout seven remarkably consistent episodes, set to a beautiful soundtrack and a calm pace, this neat and realistic aesthetic creates a mysterious atmosphere that sticks to the skin of characters who are strikingly accurate and complex. Remarkably performed by an excellent, engaging and inspired cast, \u201cTask\u201d conveys anguish, love and guilt through the eyes and actions of an actor not nearly seen enough, Tom Pelphrey (Iron Fist; Ozark; A Man in Full) and Mark Ruffalo (Dark Waters; Shutter Island; Spotlight) in one of his best roles.
