comment r\u00e9agirait la cha\u00eene de commandement lorsqu\u2019un missile nucl\u00e9aire intercontinental est tir\u00e9 en direction des USA. Une course contre la montre s\u2019engage alors \u00e0 tous les \u00e9chelons de commandement pour tenter de comprendre la situation, y r\u00e9agir et \u00e9tablir une potentielle r\u00e9ponse. Ce missile est-il bien r\u00e9el ? Qui est donc \u00e0 l\u2019origine de l\u2019attaque ? Quelles en seront les cons\u00e9quences ? Mais si toutes ces questions tiraillent bien l\u2019ensemble des personnages de ce thriller nucl\u00e9aire, son sujet n\u2019est pourtant pas l\u00e0, car c\u2019est plus dans la proc\u00e9dure et son impact sur les humains qui l\u2019appliquent que le c\u0153ur du film se trouve.<\/p><p>La premi\u00e8re r\u00e9alisatrice oscaris\u00e9e (pour \u00ab\u00a0D\u00e9mineurs\u00a0\u00bb en 2009) continue donc de s\u2019attaquer aux grands sujets de son pays, apr\u00e8s la traque de Ben Laden (Zero Dark Thiry) et les \u00e9meutes raciales (Detroit). Et \u00e0 l\u2019heure o\u00f9 le d\u00e9bat nucl\u00e9aire a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9activ\u00e9 en Ukraine au sein d\u2019un cercle d\u00e9sormais compos\u00e9e de neuf puissances dot\u00e9es, la peur d\u2019un affrontement atomique refait ici surface apr\u00e8s s\u2019\u00eatre d\u00e9sagr\u00e9g\u00e9 \u00e0 la fin de la guerre froide. \u00ab\u00a0A House of Dynamite\u00a0\u00bb s\u2019inscrit ainsi dans cette veine de films de guerre froide (WarGames\u00a0; USS Alabama\u00a0; Le jour d\u2019Apr\u00e8s\u00a0; (et bien s\u00fbr) Docteur Folamour) qui visait \u00e0 alerter sur cet \u2018\u00e9quilibre de la terreur\u2019. Les pr\u00e9mices de l\u2019intrigue \u00e9voquent d\u2019ailleurs grandement le film de Sidney Lumet \u00ab\u00a0Point Limite\u00a0\u00bb. Mais l\u00e0 o\u00f9 ce dernier construisait un dilemme moral sur un enjeu avant tout psychologique, le film de Kathryn Bigelow diffus\u00e9 sur <em>Netflix<\/em>, met plut\u00f4t en sc\u00e8ne sous la forme d\u2019un kal\u00e9idoscope, une visioconf\u00e9rence du chaos. Jouant \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re entre fiction et r\u00e9alit\u00e9, l\u2019intrigue se d\u00e9roule ainsi sur une unique matin\u00e9e et plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment sur 19 minutes chronom\u00e9tr\u00e9es et suspendues dans le temps qui s\u00e9parent l\u2019identification de la menace du point d\u2019impact du missile sous trois angles diff\u00e9rents. Cette structure en trois temps permet de multiplier et de t\u00e9lescoper les points de vue sur ce m\u00eame \u00e9v\u00e9nement v\u00e9cu en quasi temps r\u00e9el. A chaque acte son lieu, son th\u00e9\u00e2tre de parole et d\u2019\u00e2pres n\u00e9gociations. Cette narration fragment\u00e9e donne ainsi une vision globale de la situation pour explorer l\u2019ensemble de la cha\u00eene de r\u00e9ponse dans une \u00e9chelle hi\u00e9rarchique d\u00e9butant \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tage de la surveillance pour atteindre celui de la d\u00e9cision avec un Pr\u00e9sident dont en entendait jusque-l\u00e0 seulement la voix. C\u2019est en cela une forme de huis-clos d\u00e9cisionnel qui revient inlassablement sur les faits et les choix sans jamais para\u00eetre r\u00e9p\u00e9titif. Mais \u00e0 mesure que ce cycle recommence, ce dispositif se d\u00e9tourne du suspense avant tout pr\u00e9sent dans le premier acte, pour se concentrer sur les protocoles de crise car plus que l\u2019arme atomique elle-m\u00eame, les vrais grands dangers de cette histoire sont le pouvoir de d\u00e9cision unique et le temps de r\u00e9action de la cha\u00eene de r\u00e9ponse.<\/p><p>Dans un cadre extr\u00eamement pr\u00e9cis et document\u00e9, et un brassage continu de courts plans cam\u00e9ra \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9paule sign\u00e9s Barry Ackroyd (chef op\u00e9rateur de Ken Loach \u00e0 ses d\u00e9buts puis notamment de Paul Greengrass et de Kathryn Bigelow), le sc\u00e9nario de Noah Oppenheim (Jackie) diss\u00e8que ainsi les rouages de cette cha\u00eene de r\u00e9action prise dans un effet de circulation puis d\u2019accumulation et enfin de saturation d\u2019informations. C\u2019est un thriller qui se transforme en film proc\u00e9dural dont tous les personnages qu\u2019ils soient \u2018principaux\u2019 ou \u2018secondaires\u2019 n\u2019ont droit qu\u2019\u00e0 un d\u00e9veloppement minimal en dehors de l\u2019intrigue dans la mesure o\u00f9 ils sont, chacun dans leur propre logique, aspir\u00e9s par l\u2019examen des faits.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-23624 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Snapshot_4903.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Snapshot_4903.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Snapshot_4903-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Snapshot_4903-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Snapshot_4903-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>Cette somme d\u2019individualit\u00e9s travaillant ensemble pour une d\u00e9cision qui les d\u00e9passe est se refl\u00e8te dans un impressionnant casting impeccablement interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 (entre autres) par Rebecca Ferguson, Anthony Ramos, Jason Clarke, Greta Lee, Gabriel Basso, Tracy Letts, Jared Harris et Idris Elba dont les personnages disparaissent progressivement dans un rigoureux processus qui n\u2019a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 pens\u00e9 pour y appr\u00e9hender la dimension humaine en son sein. L\u2019arm\u00e9e c\u2019est du protocole, de nombreux officiers passent leur carri\u00e8re \u00e0 s\u2019entra\u00eener \u00e0 ces sc\u00e9narios improbables. Pourtant celui \u00e0 qui appartient seul, la d\u00e9cision finale, ne s\u2019entra\u00eene pas. Au-del\u00e0 d\u2019un r\u00e9alisme technique et proc\u00e9dural, le film met ainsi en lumi\u00e8re le facteur humain d\u2019une telle situation, et ici dans une administration qui plus est comp\u00e9tente. Il prend alors une tout autre dimension en y repensant dans le cadre de l\u2019administration actuelle \u2026<\/p><p>Si les portes laiss\u00e9es ouvertes par l\u2019intrigue induiront n\u00e9cessairement une l\u00e9g\u00e8re frustration, le sujet n\u2019est tout simplement pas l\u00e0. Ce que Bigelow filme ici c\u2019est l\u2019impuissance au c\u0153ur de la puissance, en d\u2019autres termes une maison pleine de dynamites qui remet en question le principe m\u00eame d\u2019une telle dissuasion. C\u2019est un film sur un oubli collectif, sur l\u2019illusion de contr\u00f4le, et le fantasme d\u2019invincibilit\u00e9 des USA. Dans un montage dense rythm\u00e9 par les compositions angoissantes de Volker Bertelmann (Conclave), le film se distingue par son sc\u00e9nario riche en dialogues authentiques et sa magistrale tension tout du long qui red\u00e9finit le cin\u00e9ma d\u2019action. Intense et visc\u00e9rale, l\u2019action du film est ainsi r\u00e9duite en hors-champ au d\u00e9collage et \u00e0 l\u2019inclinaison d\u2019une courbe, sans aucune menace visible ou antagoniste. A race against time unfolds at all levels of command as they attempt to understand the situation, react to it, and formulate a potential response. Is this missile real? Who is behind the attack? What will the fallout be? But while all these questions are certainly on every character&rsquo;s mind in this nuclear thriller, that&rsquo;s not really what the movie&rsquo;s about. Instead, it&rsquo;s more about the process and how it affects the people who put it into action.<\/p><p>The first woman to win an Oscar for Best Director (for \u201cThe Hurt Locker\u201d in 2009) continues to tackle major issues in her country, after the hunt for Bin Laden (Zero Dark Thirty) and race riots (Detroit). And at a time when the nuclear debate has been reignited in Ukraine within a circle now made up of nine nuclear powers, the fear of an atomic confrontation is resurfacing after having dissipated at the end of the Cold War. \u201cA House of Dynamite\u201d is thus in line with Cold War films (\u201cWarGames\u201d; \u201cUSS Alabama\u201d; \u201cThe Day After\u201d; and, of course, \u201cDr. Strangelove\u201d) that sought to warn about this \u2018balance of terror\u2019. The premise of the plot is also very reminiscent of Sidney Lumet&rsquo;s film \u201cFail-Safe\u201d. But where Lumet&rsquo;s film built a moral dilemma around a primarily psychological issue, Kathryn Bigelow&rsquo;s film, released on Netflix, instead depicts a kaleidoscopic videoconference of chaos. This three-part structure allows for multiple and overlapping points of view on the same event, experienced in near real time. Each act has its own location, its own stage for speech and bitter negotiations. This fragmented narrative thus provides an overview of the situation, exploring the entire reaction chain in a hierarchical scale, starting at the surveillance level to reach the decision-making level with a President whose voice we had only heard until then. In this sense, it is a form of closed-door decision-making that tirelessly revisits the facts and choices without ever feeling repetitive. But as this cycle starts all over again, the show moves away from the suspense that was so prominent in the first act to focus on crisis protocols because, more than the atomic weapon itself, the real dangers in this story are the single decision-making power and the chain of command&rsquo;s reaction time.<\/p><p>In a highly meticulous and well-documented framework, with a steady stream of short handheld shots from Barry Ackroyd (Ken Loach&rsquo;s cinematographer in his early days, then Paul Greengrass and Kathryn Bigelow&rsquo;s as well) Noah Oppenheim&rsquo;s (Jackie) screenplay examines the mechanics of this chain reaction, caught up in a cycle of circulation, accumulation, and finally saturation of information. The military is all about protocol, and many officers spend their careers training for these unlikely scenarios. Yet the person who alone has the final say does not train. Beyond technical and procedural realism, the film therefore highlights the human factor in such a situation, and in this case within an administration that is moreover quite competent. It then takes on a whole new dimension when viewed in the context of the present-day administration&#8230;<\/p><p>While the doors left open by the plot will surely generate some frustration, that&rsquo;s simply not the point of the film. What Bigelow is addressing here is the powerlessness at the heart of power, in other words, a house full of dynamite that calls into question the very principle of deterrence. It is a film about a collective oblivion, about the illusion of control, and the fantasy of US invincibility. With dense editing to the rhythm of Volker Bertelmann&rsquo;s (Conclave) haunting score, the film stands out for its authentic dialogue-heavy script and its masterful tension all the way, which redefines action cinema. The film&rsquo;s intense and visceral action is reduced to off-screen takeoffs and flattening of inclination, with no visible threats or antagonists. Combining the two halves of the film industry, \u201cA House of Dynamite\u201d therefore proves to be both a chilling warning call and a breathless entertainment.<\/p><p>Rapha\u00ebl
