On retrouve d\u2019ailleurs quelques \u00e9l\u00e9ments de son style, que ce soit visuellement dans le c\u00f4t\u00e9 pop, vibrant, color\u00e9 et notamment film\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019<em>iPhone<\/em> (Tangerine), ou narrativement avec une histoire solidement ancr\u00e9e dans le r\u00e9el sur la pr\u00e9carit\u00e9 et l\u2019exploitation des femmes depuis le point de vue des enfants (The Florida Project) mais d\u00e9bordant d\u2019invention et d\u2019humour o\u00f9 les gal\u00e8res d\u2019argent ravivent les fractures g\u00e9n\u00e9rationnelles et familiales.<\/p><p>La r\u00e9alisatrice met ainsi en sc\u00e8ne l\u2019arriv\u00e9e \u00e0 Taipei d\u2019une m\u00e8re c\u00e9libataire accompagn\u00e9e de ses deux filles avec pour projet d\u2019ouvrir un stand restaurant au c\u0153ur du foisonnant march\u00e9 nocturne de la capitale ta\u00efwanaise. Quelle que soit la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration, chaque personnage principal cache ainsi quelque chose mettant en lumi\u00e8re la peur du jugement ou du rejet social qui rend primordial de sauver la face, en particulier dans la culture chinoise. Cette oppression sociale et h\u00e9rit\u00e9e de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration en g\u00e9n\u00e9ration atteint alors son apog\u00e9e dans une magnifique conclusion particuli\u00e8rement forte.<\/p><p>Mais plus qu\u2019une immersion familiale, \u00ab Left-Handed Girl \u00bb c\u2019est avant tout une formidable immersion citadine au c\u0153ur de Taipei, qui ne joue certes pas tant que \u00e7a sur les cadres, mais plut\u00f4t sur la fr\u00e9n\u00e9sie et le fourmillement notamment de sa vie nocturne. L\u2019image est ainsi satur\u00e9e de lumi\u00e8res, de couleurs vives et de n\u00e9ons au gr\u00e9 d\u2019un rythme dynamique que ce soit lorsque la cadette (film\u00e9e \u00e0 hauteur d\u2019enfant) d\u00e9ambule dans le march\u00e9 ou lorsqu\u2019on embarque sur le scooter de l\u2019a\u00een\u00e9e. Souvent tourn\u00e9 en grand angle pour capturer un maximum d\u2019informations dans l\u2019image, le film s\u2019attarde aussi sur des petites choses du quotidien qui font la particularit\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00eele et l\u2019ancrent ainsi dans ce cin\u00e9ma de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9. After winning the Palme d&rsquo;Or last year, the American filmmaker in turn co-wrote the screenplay, produced, and edited \u201cLeft-Handed Girl\u201d. Some elements of his style can in fact be found here, whether visually in the pop, vibrant, colorful aspect, especially shot on iPhone (Tangerine), or narratively, with a story firmly rooted in reality about the precariousness and oppression of women from the perspective of children (The Florida Project), but overflowing with creativity and humor, where financial struggles reignite generational and family rifts.<\/p><p>This is the story of a single mom who moves to Taipei with her two daughters and plans to open a food stall in the bustling night market of the Taiwanese capital. Regardless of their generation, each main character hides something, highlighting the fear of judgment or social rejection that makes saving face essential, particularly in Chinese culture. This social oppression, passed down from generation to generation, then reaches its climax in a stunning and particularly powerful finale.<\/p><p>But more than just a family experience, \u201cLeft-Handed Girl\u201d is above all a wonderful city experience in the heart of Taipei, which doesn&rsquo;t focus so much on the frames but rather on the frenzy and bustle of its nightlife in particular. The picture is therefore saturated with lights, bright colors, and neon signs, following a dynamic pace, whether it&rsquo;s when the youngest daughter (filmed at child height) wanders through the market or when we hop on the older daughter&rsquo;s scooter. Often shot with a wide angle to capture as much detail as possible in the frame, the film also lingers on the little everyday things that make this island unique, anchoring it in the cinema of reality. Made on a shoestring budget with a very minimalist crew, \u201cLeft-Handed Girl\u201d stands out for the authenticity of its environment and the sensory experience it provides within the big city, not
