Mais ce titre \u00e9voque plut\u00f4t l\u2019aspect pictural du film qui \u2013 comme le tableau qu\u2019il r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u2013 allie impressionnisme et r\u00e9alisme pour dessiner un portrait d\u2019enfant sensible par petites touches diss\u00e9min\u00e9es dans une belle palette de couleurs.<\/p><p>Apr\u00e8s le grand \u00e2ge dans \u00ab\u00a0Plan 75\u00a0\u00bb, Chie Hayakawa explore donc ici l\u2019enfance dans un m\u00e9lange de fantaisie, po\u00e9sie et gravit\u00e9 avec ce portrait plein de d\u00e9licatesse d\u2019une fillette d\u00e9bordant de vitalit\u00e9 et d\u2019imagination en qu\u00eate de liens, en \u00e9quilibre entre le monde de l\u2019enfance et celui des adultes. \u00a0Bouscul\u00e9e par toutes sortes d\u2019\u00e9motions qu\u2019elle doit g\u00e9rer seule, de la peur \u00e0 la culpabilit\u00e9 en passant par l\u2019\u00e9merveillement, elle se cherche, erre et d\u00e9couvre le monde. Entre un p\u00e8re hospitalis\u00e9 et une m\u00e8re d\u00e9pass\u00e9e, la jeune fille n\u2019aspire qu\u2019\u00e0 \u00e9tablir des relations et explore pour cela toute forme de communications. Elle converse ainsi par t\u00e9l\u00e9phone, elle aime les tours de magie, et s\u2019essaie m\u00eame \u00e0 l\u2019hypnose \u2026 comme si elle tentait de ma\u00eetriser des forces qui la d\u00e9passent\u00a0: l\u2019amour (sa m\u00e8re), la mort (son p\u00e8re), et la vie (elle-m\u00eame).<\/p><p>Port\u00e9 par une performance d\u2019une rare intensit\u00e9 de la jeune actrice Yui Zuzuki qui parle peu mais dit beaucoup, \u00ab\u00a0Renoir\u00a0\u00bb installe une atmosph\u00e8re d\u2019une tendresse et d\u2019une tranquillit\u00e9 infinies \u00e0 travers les beaux cadres et \u00e9clairages de Hideho Urata ainsi que les compositions de R\u00e9mi Boubal. Cette atmosph\u00e8re transmet plus un ressenti qu\u2019une v\u00e9ritable intrigue. Car s\u2019il y a bien une histoire, le film n\u2019offre pas vraiment de trame narrative. Sans enjeux clairement \u00e9tablis, il transmet plut\u00f4t des sensations que la cin\u00e9aste capture par petites touches tel un journal intime explorant de nombreuses pistes assembl\u00e9es assez librement, comme une mosa\u00efque. Between a hospitalized father and an overwhelmed mother, the young girl longs only to establish relationships and therefore explores all forms of communication. She talks on the phone, loves magic tricks, and even tries her hand at hypnosis&#8230; as if she were trying to master forces beyond her control: like love (her mother), death (her father), and life (herself).<\/p><p>Driven by a performance of rare intensity from young actress Yui Zuzuki, who speaks little but says a lot, \u201cRenoir\u201d creates an atmosphere of infinite tenderness and tranquility through Hideho Urata&rsquo;s beautiful framing and lighting and R\u00e9mi Boubal&rsquo;s original score. This atmosphere conveys more of a feeling than an actual plot. Indeed, while there is a story, the film does not really offer any storyline. Without clearly establishing the stakes, it rather conveys sensations that the filmmaker captures in small touches, like a diary exploring numerous threads assembled quite freely, much like in a mosaic. This choice of style, which never really gives the film a clear direction, can make it a little confusing and sometimes slow, but it is also a way of portraying this intimate family story through the eyes of a child. \u201cRenoir\u201d is therefore a subtle portrait which, without ever being sad, depicts the hope of reaching out to others and questions how one person can relate to what another is
