Cette immensit\u00e9 de poussi\u00e8re, battue par le vent et le ciel sans nuages, o\u00f9 le vide ind\u00e9fini envahit notre esprit, o\u00f9 l\u2019absolue monotonie fait na\u00eetre la pure folie, o\u00f9 chaque instant dans cet infini peu \u00e0 peu nous an\u00e9antit.<\/p><p>C\u2019est dans le d\u00e9sert que s\u2019alanguit \u00ab Sir\u0101t \u00bb, \u0153uvre hypnotique aur\u00e9ol\u00e9e du Prix du Jury \u00e0 Cannes et r\u00e9alis\u00e9e par le Galicien \u00d3liver Laxe. Hypnotique, oui, parce que le film d\u00e9livre une exp\u00e9rience visuelle et sonore bien particuli\u00e8re. Outre une photographie rehaussant l\u2019aridit\u00e9 hallucinatoire des d\u00e9cors et paysages, cro\u00eet une atmosph\u00e8re sensorielle synesth\u00e9sique, o\u00f9 la vue, l\u2019ou\u00efe \u2013 et m\u00eame la pens\u00e9e \u2013 sont happ\u00e9es, absorb\u00e9es, aval\u00e9es par des images, des effluves et des musiques (compos\u00e9es par Kangding Ray) troublantes voire d\u00e9stabilisantes, versant \u00e0 la fois dans l\u2019onirique et le cauchemardesque.<\/p><p>\u00ab Sir\u0101t \u00bb est un film d\u2019ambiance, un film d\u2019\u00e9tat (mental plus que physique, quoique ?). \u00c0 l\u2019instar de son titre \u2013 qui est, dans la religion musulmane, le nom de l\u2019instable pont menant au Paradis mais suspendu au-dessus de l\u2019Enfer \u2013, le long-m\u00e9trage est constamment sur le fil : les personnages semblent fragiles, pr\u00eats \u00e0 s\u2019effriter au moindre coup de vent, au moindre tressautement. On les sent f\u00e9briles, bless\u00e9s (corporellement et psychiquement), comme si au lieu de chercher [la vie], ils fuyaient [la mort].<\/p><p>Car l\u2019histoire de base de \u00ab Sir\u0101t \u00bb, c\u2019est tout de m\u00eame un p\u00e8re et son fils \u00e0 la recherche de leur fille\/s\u0153ur disparue, au milieu de l\u2019Atlas marocain, o\u00f9 s\u2019organisent de sensationnelles <em>rave parties<\/em>. Erratique, le film heurte brutalement lors de plusieurs sc\u00e8nes, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 annihiler le peu d\u2019enjeux sc\u00e9naristiques auxquels le public comme les protagonistes s\u2019accrochaient jusqu\u2019alors. La musique elle-m\u00eame, sans changer de ton, change ainsi compl\u00e8tement de saveur, passant de festive et cathartique \u00e0 dramatique voire abominable. C\u2019est une [quasi-]descente aux enfers, o\u00f9 la vanit\u00e9, la solitude et le d\u00e9sespoir prennent le dessus sur tout autre qu\u00eate personnelle. Le vice, le mal et l\u2019absurdit\u00e9 de l\u2019univers nous explosent au visage comme une mine anti-personnel au milieu de nulle part, alors m\u00eame que nous croyions prot\u00e9g\u00e9s et \u00e9loign\u00e9s de tout cela. Un gla\u00e7ant memento mori dans un environnement br\u00fblant.<\/p><p>Certes, la philosophie du film reste absconse ou m\u00eame hors de propos pour certains \u2013 ce qui est compr\u00e9hensible au regard de cette narration vagabonde plant\u00e9e de surcro\u00eet dans un espace hors du temps. Mais \u00ab Sir\u0101t \u00bb marque pour ses inflexions et ses s\u00e9quences entrem\u00ealant le merveilleux et l\u2019horrible, que ce soient les sc\u00e8nes de rave, les rares mais puissants chocs de l\u2019intrigue ou les vir\u00e9es nocturnes \u00e9clair\u00e9es aux phares et \u00e0 la lune. This vast expanse of dust, battered by the wind and cloudless sky, where boundless emptiness invades our minds, where absolute monotony gives rise to pure madness, where every moment in this infinity gradually destroys us.<\/p><p>The desert is indeed where \u201cSir\u0101t\u201d, this hypnotic film awarded the Jury Prize at Cannes and directed by Galician \u00d3liver Laxe, unfolds and languishes. Hypnotic it is, as the film delivers a very special visual and auditory experience. In addition to cinematography that enhances the hallucinatory aridity of the settings and landscapes, a synesthetic sensory atmosphere grows, where sight, hearing\u2014and even thought\u2014are captured, absorbed, and swallowed up by images, scents, and musical compositions (by Kangding Ray) that are disturbing, even unsettling, leaning toward both the dreamlike and the nightmarish.<\/p><p>\u201cSir\u0101t\u201d is an atmospheric film, a film of mood (more mental than physical, although?). As its title suggests \u2013 which, in Islam, is the name of the unstable bridge leading to Paradise but suspended above Hell \u2013 the movie is constantly on edge: the characters seem fragile, ready to crumble at the slightest gust of wind, at the slightest jolt. They feel feverish, wounded (both physically and psychologically), as if instead of pursuing [life], they were fleeing [death].<\/p><p>The core story of Sir\u0101t is actually about a father and son searching for their missing daughter\/sister in the middle of the Moroccan Atlas Mountains, where sensational rave parties are held. The film is erratic and brutally jarring in several scenes, to the point of obliterating the few plot points that both the audience and the protagonists had been clinging to until then. The music itself, without changing tone, completely changes mood, shifting from festive and cathartic to dramatic and even abominable. It is a [near] descent into hell, where vanity, loneliness, and despair take precedence over any other personal quest. The sin, evil, and absurdity of the universe explode in our faces like a landmine in the middle of nowhere, just when we thought we were protected and far removed from it all. This is a chilling memento mori in a scorching environment.<\/p><p>Admittedly, the film&rsquo;s philosophy remains obscure or even irrelevant to some \u2013 which is understandable given its wandering narrative, set in a timeless space. But \u201cSir\u0101t\u201d stands out for its inflections and sequences that intertwine the marvelous and the horrific, whether in the rave scenes, the rare but powerful plot twists, or the nighttime drives lit by headlights and moonlight. Hipn\u00f3tica, s\u00ed, porque la pel\u00edcula ofrece una experiencia visual y sonora muy particular. Adem\u00e1s de una fotograf\u00eda que realza la aridez alucinatoria de los decorados y paisajes, crece una atm\u00f3sfera sensorial sinest\u00e9sica, donde la vista, el o\u00eddo \u2013e incluso el pensamiento\u2013 son absorbidos, tragados por im\u00e1genes, efluvios y m\u00fasicas (compuestas por Kangding Ray) inquietantes e incluso desestabilizadoras, que oscilan entre lo on\u00edrico y lo pesadillesco.<\/p><p><em>\u201cSir\u0101t\u201d<\/em> es una pel\u00edcula de atm\u00f3sfera, una pel\u00edcula de estado (\u00bfmental m\u00e1s que f\u00edsico, o tal vez ambos?). Al igual que su t\u00edtulo \u2013que en la religi\u00f3n musulmana es el nombre del puente inestable que conduce al Para\u00edso pero suspendido sobre el Infierno\u2013, el largometraje se mantiene constantemente en el filo: los personajes parecen fr\u00e1giles, listos para desmoronarse al menor soplo de viento, al m\u00e1s leve estremecimiento. Se los percibe febriles, heridos (corporal y ps\u00edquicamente), como si en lugar de buscar [la vida], huyeran de [la muerte].<\/p><p>Porque la historia de base de <em>Sir\u0101t<\/em> es, no obstante, la de un padre y su hijo en busca de su hija\/hermana desaparecida, en medio del Atlas marroqu\u00ed, donde se organizan sensacionales <em>rave parties<\/em>. Err\u00e1tica, la pel\u00edcula golpea brutalmente en varias escenas, hasta aniquilar los pocos hilos narrativos a los que el p\u00fablico y los protagonistas se aferraban hasta entonces. La m\u00fasica misma, sin cambiar de tono, cambia por completo de sabor, pasando de festiva y cat\u00e1rtica a dram\u00e1tica e incluso abominable. Es un [casi] descenso a los infiernos, donde la vanidad, la soledad y la desesperaci\u00f3n prevalecen sobre cualquier otra b\u00fasqueda personal. El vicio, el mal y el absurdo del universo nos estallan en la cara como una mina antipersonal en medio de la nada, justo cuando cre\u00edamos estar protegidos y alejados de todo ello. Un escalofriante <em>memento mori<\/em> en un entorno abrasador.<\/p><p>Cierto es que la filosof\u00eda de la pel\u00edcula puede resultar abstrusa o incluso fuera de lugar para algunos \u2013lo cual es comprensible dada esta narraci\u00f3n errante, situada adem\u00e1s en un espacio fuera del tiempo. Pero \u201c<em>Sir\u0101t\u201d<\/em> deja huella por sus inflexiones y sus secuencias que entrelazan lo maravilloso y lo horrible, ya sean las escenas de <em>rave<\/em>, los escasos pero potentes choques de la trama o las incursiones nocturnas iluminadas por los faros y la luna. Se trata ante todo de una experiencia metaf\u00edsica, donde incluso el plano final, poco innovador, nos recuerda que, incansablemente y pese a todas las desgracias que atravesamos, seguimos un camino
