Mais \u00e0 force de vouloir se ressourcer et conjurer la fr\u00e9n\u00e9sie de la vie moderne, ne s\u2019enferme-t-on pas dans ce moment pr\u00e9sent ?<\/p><p>Voil\u00e0 une r\u00e9interpr\u00e9tation originale et amusante du concept de boucle temporelle qui ne se d\u00e9roule non pas sur une journ\u00e9e \u2013 \u00e0 l\u2019image des classiques du genre \u00ab Un jour sans fin \u00bb ou \u00ab Edge of Tomorrow \u00bb \u2013 mais seulement sur deux petites minutes, et non pas sur un seul et unique protagoniste mais bien sur l\u2019ensemble du personnel et des clients d\u2019une auberge. L\u2019attrait na\u00eet donc ici \u00e0 la fois de la bri\u00e8vet\u00e9 de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience \u2013 que peut-on r\u00e9ellement faire en deux minutes ? \u2013 et du changement de dynamique que la confrontation des points de vue de toute la galerie de personnages apporte \u00e0 l\u2019intrigue. Car le concept temporel lui-m\u00eame, n\u2019est pas le c\u0153ur d\u2019un r\u00e9cit qui se concentre plus sur la vie quotidienne et les sentiments de ses personnages dans une approche plus humaine que fantastique donnant lieu \u00e0 des situations burlesques et comiques. Le r\u00e9alisateur et le sc\u00e9nariste recollaborent d\u2019ailleurs pour leur second film avec la troupe de th\u00e9\u00e2tre <em>Europe Kikaku<\/em> dont les com\u00e9diens produisent des \u2018com\u00e9dies inventives\u2019 \u00e9voluant dans des mondes de science-fiction et de fantaisie.<\/p><p>Et cette th\u00e9\u00e2tralit\u00e9 se retrouve dans l\u2019excellente spatialisation du film qui explore les moindres recoins de son auberge pittoresque, \u00e0 travers tous ses passages \u00e9troits, ses petits escaliers escarp\u00e9s, ses couloirs diablement imbriqu\u00e9s et ses pi\u00e8ces diss\u00e9min\u00e9es. Et \u00e0 travers cette course contre la montre r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9e, le film transmet l\u2019\u00e9puisement et le questionnement de certains de ses personnages pour qui un bain devient finalement plus lassant que pr\u00e9lassant, ou un d\u00e9licieux festin en devient \u00e9c\u0153urant, ainsi que la joie des autres qui d\u00e9cident de profiter de ce moment suspendu. Mais \u00ab\u00a0En Boucle\u00a0\u00bb r\u00e9ussit aussi \u00e0 ne pas faire ressentir au spectateur ce qui est pourtant au c\u0153ur de son dispositif, la r\u00e9p\u00e9tition, malgr\u00e9 une quarantaine de plans-s\u00e9quence qui ne semblent pas redondants gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses personnages attachants, son intrigue pleine de charme et d\u2019humour, ainsi que l\u2019\u00e9coulement du temps qui est visible en arri\u00e8re-plan dans l\u2019\u00e9volution de ses d\u00e9cors enneig\u00e9s temp\u00e9rant ainsi l\u2019aspect r\u00e9p\u00e9titif.<\/p><p>En somme, c\u2019est une com\u00e9die minimaliste \u00e0 petit budget, au style assez kitsch mais original et ing\u00e9nieux, au rythme et \u00e0 la structure ma\u00eetris\u00e9s, au ton l\u00e9ger, dr\u00f4le et euphorisant.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><p>Rapha\u00ebl Sallenave<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-42480e6 elementor-widget__width-initial exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"42480e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><p>It&rsquo;s an ordinary day (or almost) in Kibune, a small mountain town near Kyoto that is particularly remote and peaceful, with its temple and ryokan (traditional inn) offering an environment so conducive to contemplation that the mind can finally focus on the present moment. But in this quest to recharge the batteries and ward off the frenzy of modern life, don&rsquo;t you get caught up in the present moment?<\/p><p>This is an original and entertaining take on the concept of a time loop, which unfolds not over the course of a day \u2013 as in classics of the genre such as \u201cGroundhog Day\u201d or \u201cEdge of Tomorrow\u201d \u2013 but over just two short minutes, and not with a single protagonist, but with the entire staff and customers of the inn. The appeal here lies both in the brevity of the experience \u2013 what can you really do in two minutes? \u2013 and in the change in dynamics that the confrontation of the entire cast of characters&rsquo; points of view brings to the plot. The time concept itself is not really the focus of the story, which instead revolves around the daily lives and feelings of its characters in a more human than fantasy-based approach, leading to burlesque and comical situations. The director and screenwriter are once again collaborating for their second film with the <em>Europe Kikaku<\/em> theater company, whose actors perform \u201cinventive comedies\u201d set in worlds of science fiction and fantasy.<\/p><p>And this theatricality is conveyed in the film&rsquo;s excellent spatialization, which explores every corner of its picturesque inn, through all its narrow passageways, steep staircases, intricately intertwined corridors, and scattered rooms. And yet, in just a few camera tours, the viewer is able to take in the entire architecture of this place, allowing them to assign each spatial area to its resident (who therefore returns there at each loop), thus making the story easy to follow.<\/p><p>As soon as the loop begins, each repetition is shot in a single take with a camera that is constantly moving and a blistering pace. And through this repeated race against time, the film conveys the exhaustion and questioning of some of its characters, for whom a bath ultimately becomes more tiresome than relaxing, or a delicious feast becomes sickening, as well as the joy of others who decide to enjoy this moment suspended in time. But \u201cRiver\u201d also succeeds in not making the viewer feel what is at the heart of its set-up, repetition, despite some forty oners that don&rsquo;t feel redundant thanks to its endearing characters, its charming and funny plot, and the passage of time that is seen in the background in the evolution of its snowy settings, thus tempering the repetitive aspect.<\/p><p>All in all, this is a minimalist, low-budget comedy with a somewhat kitschy but original and creative style, a carefully crafted pace and structure, and a light, funny, and uplifting tone.<\/p><p>Rapha\u00ebl
