Interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 au th\u00e9\u00e2tre par Yvan Attal et Anne Consigny, Florian Zeller poursuit sur l\u2019am\u00e9ricanisation de sa pi\u00e8ce dans un choix de casting toujours aussi pertinent. Avec \u00ab The Son \u00bb Florian Zeller prouve \u00e0 nouveau qu\u2019il dirige ses com\u00e9diens avec brio d\u00e9veloppant une confiance de cr\u00e9ation au service de r\u00e9cits intimistes empreint d\u2019une r\u00e9elle violence psychologique.<\/p><p>Alors qu\u2019il a refait sa vie avec une nouvelle femme avec qui il vient d\u2019avoir un enfant, Peter ouvre la porte \u00e0 son ex-femme, troubl\u00e9e par le comportement de leurs fils Nicholas \u00e2g\u00e9 de dix-sept ans. Touch\u00e9 par cette nouvelle, Peter retrouve Nicholas pour essayer de comprendre ce qui ne va pas. Le fils s\u2019installe alors chez son p\u00e8re et sa nouvelle famille.<\/p><p>Si le film suit la construction de la pi\u00e8ce son ain\u00e9e, Hugh Jackman y insuffle une puissance de jeu remarquable qui touche \u00e0 l\u2019in\u00e9narrable et impose un personnage habit\u00e9 dont on ressent le pass\u00e9 que l\u2019acteur \u00e0 m\u00e9ticuleusement construit en amont. \u00c0 ses c\u00f4t\u00e9s, Zen McGrath campe le jeune Nicholas et livre une prestation remarquable d\u2019un r\u00f4le extr\u00eamement difficile, sur la fatigue de l\u2019existence. Tout en retenue, Vanessa Kirby est remarquable et partage avec Hugh Jackman de beaux moments de jeu. La question de p\u00e8re-fils ne s\u2019arr\u00eate pas \u00e0 ce duo, mais se prolonge \u00e0 celui entre Hugh Jackman et Anthony Hopkins qui incarne son p\u00e8re, un homme mauvais et avide, un ambitieux profiteur sans amour. Le fils n\u2019est pas Nicholas, mais bien Hugh Jackman, \u00e0 la fois p\u00e8re et fils, un homme tiraill\u00e9 par ses d\u00e9mons paternels dont il refuse absolument de reproduire les sch\u00e9mas.<\/p><p>\u00ab The Son \u00bb reprend en tout point la pi\u00e8ce du m\u00eame nom auquel il ajoute les fragments d\u2019un pass\u00e9, celui d\u2019un souvenir d\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 en Corse, lorsque Nicholas \u00e9tait enfant. \u00c0 travers ce souvenir qui ponctue le film en divers points strat\u00e9giquement \u00e9motionnels, Florian Zeller apporte une plus grande \u00e9motion \u00e0 son \u0153uvre. Performed on stage by Yvan Attal and Anne Consigny, Florian Zeller continues on the Americanization of his play in a choice of casting always so relevant. With \u00ab\u00a0The Son\u00a0\u00bb Florian Zeller proves once again that he directs his actors brilliantly, developing a creative faith in the service of intimist narratives imbued with real psychological violence.<\/p><p>Now that he has rebuilt his life with a new wife with whom he has just had a child, Peter lets his ex-wife in, troubled by the behavior of their seventeen-year-old son Nicholas. Touched by this news, Peter finds Nicholas to try to understand what is wrong. The son then moves in with his father and his new family.<\/p><p>If the film follows the structure of the play its elder, Hugh Jackman infuses it with a remarkable power of acting that touches on the inarticulate and imposes a character inhabited by the past that the actor has meticulously built up. At his side, Zen McGrath plays the young Nicholas and delivers a remarkable performance of an extremely difficult role, about the exhaustion of existence. Vanessa Kirby is remarkable in her restraint and shares with Hugh Jackman some beautiful moments of play. The question of father-son does not stop at this duo, but extends to the one between Hugh Jackman and Anthony Hopkins who plays his father, a bad and greedy man, an ambitious unloving profiteer. The son is not Nicholas, but Hugh Jackman, both father and son, a man torn by his paternal demons, which he absolutely refuses to recreate the patterns.<\/p><p>\u201cThe Son\u201d replicates the play of the same name in every way, and adds fragments of a past, that of a memory of a summer in Corsica, when Nicholas was a child. Through this memory, which punctuates the film at various strategically emotional points, Florian Zeller brings a greater emotion to his work. He thus touches, without being pathos, on those images of the past that we cling to, on those emotional memories that are both clear and hazy.<\/p><p>Sacha
