Que r\u00e9serve alors cette nouvelle saison \u2013 qui adapte la moiti\u00e9 du second jeu vid\u00e9o, laissant la suite pour la troisi\u00e8me et ultime saison \u2013 \u00e0 notre attachant duo de protagonistes ? Que restera-t-il de notre humanit\u00e9 ? De l\u2019individu en communaut\u00e9 ? Jusqu\u2019o\u00f9 l\u2019obsession de vengeance poussera-t-elle les personnages ? Comment une figure paternelle hant\u00e9e par la fin de saison 1 assumera-t-elle son geste ? Resserr\u00e9e sur sept \u00e9pisodes, cette seconde saison s\u2019ouvre apr\u00e8s une ellipse de cinq ans sur la nouvelle vie de ses protagonistes au quotidien paisible dans les montagnes enneig\u00e9es du Wyoming \u2026<\/p><p>Entre les \u2018infect\u00e9s\u2019 affam\u00e9s (et \u00e9volu\u00e9s), les groupuscules paramilitaires, les sectes sanguinaires, et une nature fondamentalement hostile, la saison 2 multiplie les menaces et exploite habilement les codes du genre dans un \u00e9quilibre r\u00e9ussi entre sc\u00e8nes d\u2019action spectaculaires, explorations anxiog\u00e8nes de b\u00e2timents infest\u00e9s, et s\u00e9quences plus intimistes. Cette fois-ci la trame est plus simple, avec plus d\u2019action mais toujours autant de tension au gr\u00e9 de <em>cliffhangers<\/em> intrigants et de coups de th\u00e9\u00e2tre choquants. Si dans \u00ab\u00a0The Last of Us\u00a0\u00bb le fil narratif est bien horrifique, le choc est quant \u00e0 lui \u00e9motionnel car sous toute la terreur d\u2019un tel monde, il y a bien des \u00eatres humains et des h\u00e9ros complexes et attachants malgr\u00e9 leurs failles. Le sc\u00e9nariste Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) continue en effet de mettre de l\u2019humain dans l\u2019effroi en auscultant l\u2019\u00e9tat d\u2019esprit de ses personnages entre amiti\u00e9 et amour dans un cercle de la violence qui se referme sur eux. Ici, l\u2019enfer c\u2019est les autres. La violence vient de partout dans ce monde et avant tout des humains eux-m\u00eames \u2013 les \u2018infect\u00e9s\u2019 sont progressivement de moins en moins pr\u00e9sents \u2013 d\u00e9montrant ainsi que la violence elle-m\u00eame est un fl\u00e9au bien pire que le terrible virus qui a d\u00e9cim\u00e9 l\u2019humanit\u00e9.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-20702 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Snapshot_4202.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Snapshot_4202.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Snapshot_4202-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Snapshot_4202-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Snapshot_4202-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>En somme nombre de qualit\u00e9s de la premi\u00e8re saison sont toujours pr\u00e9sentes, des splendides paysages et d\u00e9cors que l\u2019on traverse en apn\u00e9e aux sc\u00e8nes marquantes et m\u00e9taphoriques, sans oublier un sc\u00e9nario qui offre d\u2019excellents d\u00e9veloppements de personnages et de fins dialogues \u2013 en particulier en d\u00e9but de saison avec trois premiers \u00e9pisodes de tr\u00e8s grande qualit\u00e9. Mais finalement c\u2019est bien dans sa structure narrative que le b\u00e2t blesse avec une deuxi\u00e8me moiti\u00e9 de saison o\u00f9 l\u2019action et l\u2019accumulation d\u2019objectifs semblent \u00eatre la cl\u00e9. Cela cr\u00e9e un rythme d\u2019urgence et de survie qui contraste fortement avec une premi\u00e8re moiti\u00e9 qui prenait plus le temps de poser ses enjeux, d\u2019approfondir les relations entre personnages, et d\u2019explorer l\u2019environnement g\u00e9ographique et social \u2013 dans la veine de la premi\u00e8re saison. L\u00e0 tout va plus (et trop\u00a0?) vite, les personnages passent d\u2019un endroit \u00e0 un autre dans une zone que l\u2019on vient \u00e0 peine de d\u00e9couvrir et que les protagonistes sont en train d\u2019explorer avec tous ses nouveaux personnages et communaut\u00e9s divis\u00e9es entre elles. D\u2019autant qu\u2019en plein milieu de cette narration fr\u00e9n\u00e9tique, la s\u00e9rie propose un \u00e9pisode <em>full flash-back<\/em> plus lent qui casse alors cette acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration du rythme, pour offrir certes de tr\u00e8s belles sc\u00e8nes mais aussi apporter une r\u00e9v\u00e9lation majeure qui aurait clairement eu plus de poids plus tard.<\/p><p>Alors oui, la narration offre de belles surprises et une cr\u00e9ation de monde int\u00e9ressante (bien que les <em>showrunners<\/em> aient d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d\u2019en laisser une grosse partie pour la saison 3), mais elle manque parfois de subtilit\u00e9 et m\u00e9riterait clairement de prendre plus son temps. En revanche, l\u2019adaptation du jeu opte pour un changement int\u00e9ressant en faisant regretter au personnage principal ses choix, l\u2019\u00e9loignant ainsi quelque peu de la brute qu&rsquo;elle devient dans le jeu pour la rendre plus nuanc\u00e9e. So, what does this new season \u2013 which adapts half of the second video game, leaving the rest for the third and final season \u2013 have in store for our endearing duo of protagonists? What will remain of our humanity? Of the individual in community? How far will the obsession with vengeance push the characters? How will a father figure haunted by the end of Season 1 cope with his deeds? Shortened to seven episodes, this second season opens after a five-year time gap with the new peaceful daily life of its protagonists in the snow-covered mountains of Wyoming &#8230;<\/p><p>Between the hungry (and evolved) &lsquo;infected&rsquo;, the paramilitary groups, the bloodthirsty cults, and a fundamentally hostile nature, season 2 increases the threats and skillfully draws on the codes of the genre in a successful balance between spectacular action scenes, anxiety-inducing explorations of infested buildings, and more intimate scenes. This time around, the plot is simpler, with more action but just as much tension, thanks to intriguing cliffhangers and shocking plot twists. While the narrative thread in \u201cThe Last of Us\u201d is indeed horrific, the shock is emotional, because underneath all the terror of such a world, there are human beings and heroes who are complex and endearing, despite their flaws. Screenwriter Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) continues to bring humanity to dread, examining the state of mind of his characters between friendship and love in a circle of violence that closes in on them. Here, hell is just other people. Violence comes from everywhere in this world, and above all from humans themselves \u2013 the &lsquo;infected&rsquo; are in fact progressively less prevalent \u2013 demonstrating that violence itself is a far worse plague than the terrifying virus that wiped out mankind.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-20702 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Snapshot_4202.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Snapshot_4202.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Snapshot_4202-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Snapshot_4202-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Snapshot_4202-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>All in all, plenty of the strengths of season one is still there, from the breathtaking scenery and landscapes you&rsquo;ll breathlessly wander through to the striking, metaphorical scenes, as well as a script that offers excellent character development and sharp dialogue \u2013 particularly at the start of the season, with three top-quality first episodes. But ultimately, it&rsquo;s the narrative structure that proves to be the main weakness, with a second half of the season in which action and the accumulation of targets seem to be the key. This creates a pace of urgency and survival that contrasts sharply with the first half, which took more time to set the stakes, deepen relationships, and explore the geographical and social environment \u2013 very much like the first season. Here, everything moves more (and too?) quickly, with the characters moving from one place to another in an area we&rsquo;ve only just discovered, and which the protagonists are in the process of exploring with all its new people and communities divided between them. And right in the middle of this frenetic narrative, the series throws in a slower, full-flashback episode that breaks the acceleration of pace, offering of course some truly beautiful scenes, but also introducing a major revelation that would clearly have had greater impact later on.<\/p><p>So yes, the storytelling delivers some great surprises and interesting world-building (although the showrunners decided to leave a big chunk of it for season 3), but it sometimes lacks subtlety and clearly deserved to take its time a bit more. On the other hand, the game adaptation makes an interesting change by making the main character regret her choices, thus distancing her somewhat from the ruthless beast she\u2019s in the game to make her more nuanced. All in all, \u201cThe Last of Us\u201d remains an excellent show, albeit with a slightly frustrating but good second season that could resonate all the more with the third and final season in two
