C\u2019est aussi le village d\u2019enfance de la r\u00e9alisatrice Maura Delpero qui a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d\u2019en faire un film suite au d\u00e9c\u00e8s puis \u00e0 l\u2019apparition en r\u00eave de son d\u00e9funt p\u00e8re, instituteur. De l\u00e0 est n\u00e9 un long-m\u00e9trage \u00e0 la fois personnel, historique et naturaliste, pastoral et mis\u00e9reux, envo\u00fbtant et d\u00e9senchant\u00e9, beau et tourment\u00e9.<\/p><p>En pleine Seconde guerre mondiale, pourtant \u00e9loign\u00e9es de tout, la petite communaut\u00e9 du Trentin et en particulier la nombreuse famille Graziadei sont silencieusement meurtries par les bouleversements du conflit. Cette relative paix est alors l\u00e9g\u00e8rement perturb\u00e9e par l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de Pietro, un soldat sicilien dont va s\u2019\u00e9prendre Lucia, la fille a\u00een\u00e9e des Graziadei.<\/p><p>Or \u00ab Vermiglio \u00bb ne s\u2019arr\u00eate pas \u00e0 ce simple r\u00e9sum\u00e9. \u00c0 travers plusieurs sous-intrigues du clan Graziadei entrem\u00eal\u00e9es \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re de chroniques de la vie montagnarde, le long-m\u00e9trage explore en effet une multitude de th\u00e9matiques prises sur le vif, comme une photographie d\u2019\u00e9poque. Outre l\u2019\u00e9vident et ambigu d\u00e9calage entre ruralit\u00e9 et modernit\u00e9, le film raconte l\u2019histoire d\u2019id\u00e9aux bris\u00e9s par les carcans familiaux, patriarcaux et soci\u00e9taux. D\u2019abord celui de l\u2019amour le plus pur, ardent puis brutalement d\u00e9truit, qu\u2019\u00e9prouve Lucia pour son Pietro. Il y a ce d\u00e9sir souvent interdit de s\u2019adonner au corps d\u2019une ou d\u2019un autre, malgr\u00e9 la jeunesse ou la conscience d\u2019\u00eatre \u00e0 la marge. Il y a cette soif d\u2019apprendre et de s\u2019\u00e9manciper, contrainte ou arr\u00eat\u00e9e par une \u00e9cole et une paternit\u00e9 v\u00e9cues tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9remment selon les enfants Graziadei. Il y a aussi ce rapport \u00e0 la maternit\u00e9 et \u00e0 la famille qui se renforce ou s\u2019\u00e9tiole en fonction des parcours \u2013 l\u00e0 o\u00f9 trois s\u0153urs semblent ins\u00e9parables, un fr\u00e8re se renferme dans son chagrin, un p\u00e8re est coinc\u00e9 dans son r\u00f4le de patriarche et une jeune m\u00e8re abandonne puis retrouve sa nouvelle-n\u00e9e. Il y a enfin la guerre, invisible et pourtant palpable, dont tout le monde parle et s\u2019inqui\u00e8te sans jamais vraiment la vivre dans sa chair, \u00e0 l\u2019inverse de soldats ravag\u00e9s, r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s et accus\u00e9s l\u00e2chement d\u2019\u00eatre des d\u00e9serteurs.<\/p><p>Avec un style \u00e9pur\u00e9 et paradoxalement mystique rappelant le cin\u00e9ma d\u2019Alice Rohrwacher, \u00ab Vermiglio \u00bb passe pour majestueux non seulement en raison de ses paysages mais aussi en raison de sa photographie sign\u00e9e Mikha\u00efl Kritchman. D\u2019une minutie remarquable, Maura Delpero r\u00e9ussit le pari de saisir toute l\u2019intensit\u00e9 de chacun de ses personnages \u00e0 travers des regards et de souvent courtes phrases lourdes de sens. It&rsquo;s also the childhood village of director Maura Delpero, who decided to make a film about it after her late father, a schoolteacher, died and then appeared to her in dreams. Hence was born a film that is at once personal, historical and naturalistic, pastoral and impoverished, bewitching and disenchanted, beautiful and tormented.<\/p><p>In the midst of World War II, the small Trentino community, and in particular the large Graziadei family, are silently consumed by the upheavals of the conflict. This relative peace is then slightly disrupted by the arrival of Pietro, a Sicilian soldier with whom the Graziadeis&rsquo; eldest daughter Lucia falls in love.<\/p><p>But \u201cVermiglio\u201d doesn&rsquo;t stop there. Through the various subplots of the Graziadei clan, interwoven like chronicles of mountain life, the film explores a wide range of themes captured on the spot, like a vintage photograph. In addition to the obvious and ambiguous contrast between rurality and modernity, the film tells the story of ideals shattered by family, patriarchal and societal shackles. First, there&rsquo;s Lucia&rsquo;s love for her Pietro, the purest of loves, ardent and then brutally destroyed. There&rsquo;s the often forbidden desire to indulge in someone else&rsquo;s body, despite youth or the awareness of being on the fringe. There&rsquo;s this thirst for learning and emancipation, constrained or halted by an education and a fatherhood experienced both very differently by the Graziadei children. There is also the relationship to motherhood and family, which grows stronger or weaker depending on the path taken \u2013 where three sisters seem inseparable, a brother withdraws into his grief, a father is stuck in his role as patriarch, and a young mother abandons and then finds her newborn daughter. Finally, there is the war, invisible yet palpable, which everyone talks about and worries about without ever really experiencing it in the flesh, unlike the shattered soldiers who take refuge and are cowardly accused of being deserters.<\/p><p>\u201cVermiglio\u201d stands out as a majestic film with its beautiful landscapes and Mikhail Kritchman\u2019s cinematography that gives it paradoxically both an authentic and mystical style at the same time that is reminiscent of Alice Rohrwacher&rsquo;s cinema. Furthermore, the film, which won a Silver Lion at Venice and went on to represent Italy at the recent Oscars, was shot by speaking in a Solandrin dialect (a highly localized variant of Ladin), and offers a wonderful tribute to a singular and little-known heritage, whose history, seen through a woman&rsquo;s eye, is a reminder of the diversity and complexity of our societies, both past and present.<\/p><p>Axel Chevalier<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>ITALIANO<\/strong><\/p><p>Vermiglio, \u00e8 un paese alla fine di una valle, alla fine dell\u2019Italia, alla fine del mondo. \u00c8 anche il paese d\u2019infanzia della regista Maura Delpero che decise di farne un film in seguito alla scomparsa poi all\u2019apparizione in sogno del suo defunto padre, insegnante. Da qui nacque un lungometraggio nel frattempo personale, storico e naturalista, pastorale e misero, ammaliante e disilluso, bello e tormentato.<\/p><p>In mezzo alla Seconda guerra mondiale, eppure lontane di tutto, la piccola comunit\u00e0 trentina ed in specie la numerosa famiglia Graziadei sono silenziosamente afflitte dai capovolgimenti del conflitto. Allora questa relativa pace viene leggermente perturbata con l\u2019arrivo di Pietro, soldato siciliano di cui sta per innamorarsi Lucia, figlia maggiore dei Graziadei.<\/p><p>Orbene, \u201cVermiglio\u201d non pu\u00f2 ridursi cos\u00ec meramente. Attraverso parecchi sotto-intrighi del clan Graziadei intrecciati come cronache della vita di montagna, il lungometraggio esplora in effetti una moltitudine di tematiche catturate in loco, come una fotografia d\u2019epoca. Oltre all\u2019ovvio ed ambiguo divario fra ruralit\u00e0 e modernit\u00e0, il film racconta la storia d\u2019ideali spezzati dalle gabbie famigliari, patriarcali e societari. Innanzitutto quello dell\u2019amore pi\u00f9 puro, ardente poi brutalmente distrutto, che prova Lucia per il suo Pietro. C\u2019\u00e8 questo desiderio spesso vietato di darsi al corpo di un\u2019altra o di un altro, nonostante la giovent\u00f9 o la coscienza di essere in disparte. C\u2019\u00e8 questa sete di imparare e di emanciparsi, costretta o interrotta da una scuola e una paternit\u00e0 vissute molto diversamente secondo le figlie e figli Graziadei. C\u2019\u00e8 anche questo rapporto alla maternit\u00e0 ed alla famiglia che si rafforza o svanisce in funzione dei percorsi \u2013 dove tre sorelle sembrano inseparabili, un fratello si rinchiude nella malinconia, un padre \u00e8 bloccato nel proprio ruolo di patriarca e una giovane madre abandona poi ritrova la propria neonata. C\u2019\u00e8 infine la guerra, invisibile eppure palpabile, di cui tutte e tutti parlano e si preoccupano senza mai viverla nella carne, invece a soldati razziati, rifugiati e accusati pusillanimemente di essere disertori.<\/p><p>Con uno stile epurato e paradossalmente mistico \u2013 che ricorda il cinema di Alice Rohrwacher \u2013 \u201cVermiglio\u201d si mostra maestosa per i suoi paesaggi nonch\u00e9 per la fotografia di Michail Kri\u010dman. Con un\u2019impressionante minuzia, Maura Delpero riesce a cogliere tutta l\u2019intensit\u00e0 di ciascuno dei suoi personaggi tramite sguardi e frase corte, spesso piene di senso. Girato d\u2019altronde in un dialetto solandro (variante molto localizzata del ladino), il film, laureato di un Leone d\u2019Argento a Venezia e che ha rappresentato l\u2019Italia agli ultimi Oscar, rende cos\u00ec un meraviglioso omaggio ad un patrimonio singolare e poco conosciuto, la cui storia trasmessa da un punto di vista femminile ricorda la ricchezza e la complessit\u00e0 delle nostre societ\u00e0 passate come presenti.<\/p><p>Axel
