On y suit deux policiers se rendre dans une modeste maison pavillonnaire, y entrer en force et arr\u00eater un jeune gar\u00e7on de 13 ans suspect\u00e9 de meurtre, puis l\u2019embarquer jusqu\u2019au commissariat pour l\u2019interrogatoire. Jusque-l\u00e0 rien d\u2019extraordinaire, sauf que la s\u00e9quence est film\u00e9e sans aucune coupe, renfor\u00e7ant donc in\u00e9vitablement l\u2019immersion et l\u2019intensit\u00e9 de la sc\u00e8ne d\u00e8s le d\u00e9part. Mais \u00e7a ne s\u2019arr\u00eate pas l\u00e0 puisque l\u2019int\u00e9gralit\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00e9pisode est en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 tourn\u00e9e en un unique plan-s\u00e9quence d\u2019une heure, et la s\u00e9rie r\u00e9p\u00e8te cet incroyable prouesse sur ses quatre \u00e9pisodes\u00a0!<\/p><p>La cam\u00e9ra ne quitte donc jamais l\u2019action. Et nous non plus ! Ce n\u2019est pas un effet de style superficiel mais bien un choix de forme tr\u00e8s efficace pour nous plonger en temps r\u00e9el dans la tension v\u00e9cue par les personnages. C\u2019est donc un aspect technique qui enrichit l\u2019intrigue en la rendant d\u2019autant plus haletante, voire suffocante \u2013 avec toutefois des moments de respiration bien plac\u00e9s. C\u2019est un choix tr\u00e8s audacieux et tr\u00e8s complexe du r\u00e9alisateur Philip Barantini et de son chef-op\u00e9rateur Matthew Lewis (qui avaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 sign\u00e9 ensemble l\u2019impressionnant \u00ab The Chef \u00bb) qui a demand\u00e9 une immense collaboration entre les \u00e9quipes, notamment technique et narrative. En effet pour r\u00e9ussir de tels plans-s\u00e9quences sans coupes cach\u00e9es, cela demande une impressionnante pr\u00e9paration et anticipation dans le placement des acteurs, des figurants, ainsi que des cadreurs et op\u00e9rateurs sons qui doivent \u00e9galement apprendre la chor\u00e9graphie au millim\u00e8tre pr\u00e8s. \u00c9videmment, cela a n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 plusieurs essais dans la mesure o\u00f9 la s\u00e9rie comprend de nombreux plans tr\u00e8s mobiles \u2013 n\u00e9cessitant des transferts de cam\u00e9ras d\u2019un cadreur \u00e0 un autre, ou d\u2019un support \u00e0 un autre, le tout en masquant \u00e9videmment toute l\u2019\u00e9quipe \u2013 notamment au milieu d\u2019une foule d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ves, ou \u00e0 l\u2019inverse avec un \u00e9pisode en huis-clos utilisant les moindres mouvements des personnages ou variations de temp\u00e9rament pour bouger la cam\u00e9ra. Dans cette mini-s\u00e9rie britannique disponible sur <em>Netflix<\/em> et co-cr\u00e9\u00e9e par l\u2019acteur Stephen Graham (The Chef ; Snatch) et le dramaturge Jack Thorne (Radioactive ; Toxic Town), pas de p\u00e8re violent ou de m\u00e8re alcoolique. Non, c\u2019est encore plus terrifiant. Alors que les crimes juv\u00e9niles \u00e0 l\u2019arme blanche ont augment\u00e9 de 240% au Royaume-Uni en l\u2019espace de dix ans, \u00ab Adolescence \u00bb nous plonge dans une dure r\u00e9flexion sur la manosph\u00e8re et tout ce monde obscur \u2013 pour tout autre g\u00e9n\u00e9ration que celle n\u00e9e avec les r\u00e9seaux sociaux \u2013 de cyber violence, masculinit\u00e9 toxique ou misogynie en ligne qui divisent les jeunes entre <em>incels<\/em> et <em>alphas<\/em> sur de pr\u00e9tendues lois des 80\/20. L\u2019intrigue ne pose pas une question facile sur ce sujet et ne propose pas de r\u00e9ponse d\u00e9finitive, mais d\u00e9montre avec une redoutable efficacit\u00e9 le pi\u00e8ge qui peut se refermer sur des familles qui n\u2019ont rien d\u2019intrins\u00e8quement violentes. C\u2019est un message fort qui suscitera assur\u00e9ment des conversations entre parents \u2026<\/p><p>Avec sa structure en quatre \u00e9pisodes, \u00ab\u00a0Adolescence\u00a0\u00bb propose quatre chronologies diff\u00e9rentes lui permettant d\u2019explorer non seulement quatre temps, mais aussi quatre dimensions du probl\u00e8me\u00a0: les faits\u00a0; le milieu\u00a0; les racines\u00a0; l\u2019\u00e9ducation. En seulement quelques sc\u00e8nes succinctes, la s\u00e9rie offre un expos\u00e9 de la f\u00e9rocit\u00e9 des rapports (somme toute banals) entre enfants et de cette jungle de l\u2019alt\u00e9rit\u00e9\u00a0; ainsi que des r\u00e9percussions sociales de tels actes sur l\u2019entourage des victimes et agresseurs. C\u2019est une puissante le\u00e7on, tr\u00e8s \u00e9mouvante et percutante port\u00e9e bien s\u00fbr par l\u2019acteur et co-cr\u00e9ateur de la s\u00e9rie \u2013 entour\u00e9 d\u2019un excellent casting avec notamment Ashley Walters, Faye Marsay, Christine Temarco, Am\u00e9lie Pease, Erin Doherty \u2013 mais surtout par le jeune et saisissant Owen Cooper dont c\u2019est le premier r\u00f4le\u00a0! Au-del\u00e0 du choix de plan-s\u00e9quence et de cette histoire au plus pr\u00e8s des faits actuels, la mise en sc\u00e8ne de la s\u00e9rie accentue donc l\u2019immersion du spectateur par un tr\u00e8s bon travail sur le son et une grande volont\u00e9 de r\u00e9alisme qui se retrouve dans les d\u00e9cors, les protocoles, les accessoires, les dialogues bien s\u00fbr, mais aussi de nombreux d\u00e9tails symptomatiques. Par sa virtuosit\u00e9 artistique, ses performances remarquables, et son intrigue d\u00e9vastatrice, \u00ab\u00a0Adolescence\u00a0\u00bb s\u2019impose comme un appel \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9coute et \u00e0 la discussion. C\u2019est tout simplement l\u2019une des meilleures s\u00e9ries de l\u2019ann\u00e9e. Two police officers drive to a modest suburban house, break in and arrest a 13-year-old boy on suspicion of murder, then take him to the police station for questioning. So far, nothing out of the ordinary, except that the sequence is filmed without any cuts, thereby further enhancing the immersion and intensity of the scene from the outset. But it doesn&rsquo;t quite stop there, as the entire episode is actually shot in a single one-hour long shot, and the series repeats this incredible feat across all four episodes!<\/p><p>So, the camera never leaves the action. And neither can we! This is not a superfluous visual device, but a highly effective stylistic choice that draws us into the tension experienced by the characters in real time. It&rsquo;s a technical aspect that makes the plot all the more breathtaking, even suffocating \u2013 though with a few well-timed breathing moments. It&rsquo;s an extremely ambitious and complex choice from director Philip Barantini and his cinematographer Mathew Lewis (who had already worked together on the impressive \u201cBoiling Point\u201d), and one that required a huge amount of collaboration between the teams, especially technically and narratively. Indeed, to pull off such long shots with no hidden edits requires tremendous preparation and anticipation in the positioning of actors and extras, as well as cameramen and boom operators, who also have to learn the dance down to the smallest detail. Obviously, this required several attempts, as the series includes many highly moving shots \u2013 requiring camera handovers from one cameraman to another, or from one rig to another, all while obviously hiding the entire crew \u2013 particularly in the midst of a crowd of school kids, or conversely with a fully closed-door episode using the slightest character movement or variation in temperament to keep the camera moving. All in all, it&rsquo;s very technical, yes, but the style never detracts from the substance, with a plot that proves particularly strong and necessary.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-19078 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Snapshot_3356.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Snapshot_3356.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Snapshot_3356-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Snapshot_3356-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Snapshot_3356-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>If it&rsquo;s then the technical wizardry that initially strikes you, it&rsquo;s definitely the story that really gets under your skin and stays with you in the end \u2013 and that&rsquo;s the real strength of this show. In this British mini-series available on <em>Netflix<\/em> and co-created by actor Stephen Graham (Boiling Point; Snatch) and playwright Jack Thorne (Radioactive; Toxic Town), there&rsquo;s no violent father or alcoholic mother. No, it&rsquo;s even more terrifying. At a time when youth crime with sharp objects and knives has rocketed by 240% in the UK over the past decade, \u201cAdolescence\u201d delves into a grim look at the manosphere and that whole dark world \u2013 for any generation other than the one born with social media \u2013 of cyber-violence, toxic masculinity and online misogyny that divides young people between incels and alphas on so-called 80\/20 rules. The plot doesn&rsquo;t raise an easy question on this subject, nor does it offer a definitive answer, but it does illustrate with frightening effect the trap that can close on families that have nothing inherently violent about them. It&rsquo;s a powerful message that&rsquo;s bound to spark conversations among parents&#8230;<\/p><p>With its four-episode structure, \u201cAdolescence\u201d offers four different time frames, enabling it to explore not only four times, but also four dimensions of the issue: the facts; the environment; the foundations; the upbringing. In just a few brief scenes, the series offers an insight into the ferocity of (all-too-common) relationships between children and this jungle of alterity; as well as the social aftermath of such deeds on those around the victims and perpetrators. It&rsquo;s a powerful, moving and striking lesson, delivered of course by the actor and co-creator of the series \u2013 along with an excellent cast including Ashley Walters, Faye Marsay, Christine Temarco, Am\u00e9lie Pease and Erin Doherty \u2013 but above all by the young, astonishing Owen Cooper, in his acting debut! Beyond the choice of long uncut shots and the story&rsquo;s close proximity to current events, the series&rsquo; direction thus intensifies the viewer&rsquo;s immersion through great sound work and a strong commitment to realism, reflected in the sets, protocols, props and dialogue, of course, but also in various telling details. With its artistic virtuosity, staggering performances and devastating story, \u201cAdolescence\u201d stands out as a plea to talk and listen. Quite simply, it&rsquo;s one of the very best series of the year.
