Qui est l\u2019ennemi\u00a0? Que veut-il\u00a0? S\u2019agit-il d\u2019une invasion ? La population (sur place) et les autorit\u00e9s (en m\u00e9tropole) sont-elles au courant de la situation\u00a0? Telles sont les questions auxquelles devront r\u00e9pondre un groupe de jeunes Finlandais effectuant leur service militaire dans la zone\u00a0!<\/p><p>\u00ab\u00a0Conflict\u00a0\u00bb plonge ainsi ses personnages dans les m\u00e9andres d\u2019une guerre moderne, informationnelle et complexe aupr\u00e8s d\u2019une poign\u00e9e de soldats livr\u00e9s \u00e0 eux-m\u00eames derri\u00e8re les lignes ennemies aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de citoyens bien d\u00e9cid\u00e9s de r\u00e9sister \u00e0 cette menace fant\u00f4me. En parall\u00e8le, la D\u00e9mocratie contre-attaque \u00e0 Helsinki et se d\u00e9chire entre la nouvelle pr\u00e9sidence et le parlement soumis aux pressions internationales d\u2019un OTAN qui temp\u00e8re cette \u2018escarmouche\u2019 pour ne pas dire guerre et invoquer ce maudit article 5 \u2026<\/p><p>La s\u00e9rie m\u00eale habilement drame humain et enjeux g\u00e9opolitiques dans un sc\u00e9nario gla\u00e7ant qui n\u2019est pas sans rappeler le contexte actuel et propose une r\u00e9flexion pertinente sur le conflit d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui, sa nature hybride, dissimul\u00e9e, et in\u00e9vitablement multinationale. Aussi bien une s\u00e9rie d\u2019action, qu\u2019une analyse des conflits et des eaux troubles dans lesquelles naviguent les politiciens qui doivent y faire face, \u00ab\u00a0Conflict\u00a0\u00bb est intelligent, tendu, haletant, mais aussi froid, brut et sans \u00e9motion. Elle aurait peut-\u00eatre gagn\u00e9 \u00e0 consacrer un peu plus de temps au d\u00e9veloppement de ses personnages, mais la contrepartie c\u2019est qu\u2019elle permet de rentrer directement dans le vif du sujet en frappant fort et vite. C\u2019est un thriller militaire et politique intense qui r\u00e9ussit extr\u00eamement bien \u00e0 \u00e9quilibrer les diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9chelles de l\u2019intrigue entre la pr\u00e9sidence, la r\u00e9sistance urbaine, l\u2019escouade dans la for\u00eat, et progressivement les autres intervenants. Les cr\u00e9ateurs Andrei Al\u00e9n et Aku Louhimies ont en effet \u00e9vit\u00e9 les effets num\u00e9riques, pr\u00e9f\u00e9rant les prises de vues r\u00e9elles y compris lors des sc\u00e8nes de nuit exploitant la lumi\u00e8re naturelle de l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 finlandais qui offre une atmosph\u00e8re rarement vue dans ce type de production. Les sc\u00e8nes d\u2019action sont de plus renforc\u00e9es par ce souci du d\u00e9tail et de r\u00e9alisme, que ce soit pour les F-18 (finlandais), les Gripen (su\u00e9dois), les navires de la marine, les uniformes des soldats, les d\u00e9placements des militaires, ou encore les langues utilis\u00e9es en sous-titrant celles que les personnages que l\u2019on suit dans la sc\u00e8ne sont cens\u00e9s comprendre.<\/p><p>C\u2019est une s\u00e9rie ambitieuse qui offre donc des sc\u00e8nes d\u2019action \u00e0 la fois intenses et r\u00e9alistes pour un budget d\u2019\u00e0 peine 12M\u20ac, soit un magnifique compromis entre l\u2019ambition commerciale de toucher un public mondial (avec casting international), et l\u2019ambition artistique de d\u00e9peindre un conflit d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui (avec int\u00e9r\u00eat et sous plusieurs angles). Imagin\u00e9 avant la guerre en Ukraine et l\u2019entr\u00e9e de cette grande arm\u00e9e qu\u2019est la Finlande dans l\u2019OTAN, le sc\u00e9nario a quelque peu \u00e9t\u00e9 ajust\u00e9 pour int\u00e9grer ces transformations de l\u2019Histoire. Who is the enemy? What do they want? Is it an invasion? Are the local population and the authorities in mainland aware of the situation? These are the questions to be answered by a group of young Finns doing their military service in the area!<\/p><p>\u201cConflict\u201d brings its characters into the twists and turns of a modern, informational and complex war, with a handful of soldiers on their own behind enemy lines, alongside citizens determined to resist this phantom menace. At the same time, in Helsinki, democracy strikes back and is torn between the new presidency and the parliament under international pressure from NATO, which is softening this \u201cskirmish\u201d to avoid calling it a war and invoking that dreaded Article 5&#8230;<\/p><p>The series deftly blends human drama and geopolitical stakes in a chilling scenario reminiscent of our present times, and offers a relevant reflection on today&rsquo;s conflict, its hybrid, covert and inevitably multinational nature. As much an action series as a conflict analysis and the murky waters navigated by the politicians who have to deal with it, \u201cConflict\u201d is intelligent, tense and gripping, but also cold, raw and unemotional. It might have benefited from spending a little more time on character development, but the trade-off is that it gets straight to the heart of the matter, striking hard and fast. It&rsquo;s an intense military and political thriller that manages extremely well to balance the different scales of the plot between the presidency, the urban resistance, the squad in the forest, and progressively the other players. Creators Andrei Al\u00e9n and Aku Louhimies avoided digital visual effects, instead preferring live-action shots, including night scenes that feature the natural light of the Finnish summer, creating an atmosphere rarely seen in this type of production.
