en live-action \u00ab The Mandalorian \u00bb fut la s\u00e9rie qui lan\u00e7a la plateforme Disney+ en novembre dernier, il appara\u00eet donc logique que la premi\u00e8re saison de \u00ab Disney Gallery \u00bb soit sur cette s\u00e9rie. \u00ab Disney Gallery \u00bb est une mini-s\u00e9rie documentaire de making-of des cr\u00e9ations originales Disney, cet opus revenant donc sur le d\u00e9veloppement et la cr\u00e9ation de la premi\u00e8re saison de \u00ab The Mandalorian \u00bb.<\/p><p>R\u00e9alis\u00e9e par Bradford Baruh, la s\u00e9rie comporte huit \u00e9pisodes tel un miroir de la s\u00e9rie qu\u2019elle d\u00e9crypte, o\u00f9 nous parcourons les diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9tapes de la cr\u00e9ation de la s\u00e9rie \u00e0 travers des images du plateau de tournage et des d\u00e9bats sur tables rondes avec soit les r\u00e9alisateurs, les acteurs ou encore l\u2019\u00e9quipe technique et\/ou de production. La combinaison des explications sur le mod\u00e8le des \u00ab making-of \u00bb et des tables-rondes permet de cr\u00e9er une ambiance amicale tout en expliquant les secrets de tournage.<\/p><p>Je ne rentrerai pas dans le d\u00e9tail des explications apport\u00e9es tout au long de la s\u00e9rie, mais je me permettrai d\u2019avancer quelques points importants ou qui refl\u00e8tent particuli\u00e8rement cette s\u00e9rie. En ce qui concerne les acteurs, il est clair que Carl Weathers \u00e9tait \u00ab la \u00bb superstar du plateau, inspirant la nouvelle Gina Carrano plus habitu\u00e9e \u00e0 ses rings et tatamis qu\u2019aux cam\u00e9ras, mais oblig\u00e9 de s\u2019habituer \u00e0 jouer face un masque et un miroir. Tels sont les deux facteurs \u00e0 prendre en compte pour jouer face \u00e0 un mandalorien casqu\u00e9 et en armure. Cela n\u00e9cessitant \u00e9galement un travail sur les mouvements bien plus important pour rendre les \u00e9motions et exprimer un \u00ab jeu \u00bb sans voir les yeux ou le visage.<\/p><p>Jon Favreau revient donc sur l\u2019\u00e9laboration de son script et le d\u00e9veloppement de la s\u00e9rie qui de mani\u00e8re in\u00e9dite fut, initialement, enti\u00e8rement dessin\u00e9e et enregistr\u00e9e avec des voix temporaires pour donner vie \u00e0 un storyboard complet, puis int\u00e9gralement d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e en Pr\u00e9-Vis en combinant des mod\u00e9lisations 3D \u00e0 des sc\u00e8nes tourn\u00e9es en VR (r\u00e9alit\u00e9 virtuelle) permettant \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipe d\u2019avoir d\u00e9j\u00e0 un premier cut avant m\u00eame le d\u00e9but du tournage. \u00ab The Mandalorian \u00bb se distingue donc clairement par sa pr\u00e9production puisque l\u2019\u00e9quipe d\u2019ILM a \u00e9galement d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 tout simplement une nouvelle technique de tournage dor\u00e9navant appel\u00e9e le \u00ab Stagecraft \u00bb, mais que Jon Favreau et l\u2019\u00e9quipe d\u2019ILM appelait alors \u00ab le Volume \u00bb. Il s\u2019agit en fait d\u2019un studio enti\u00e8rement entour\u00e9 et plafonn\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9crans LED en se basant sur le principe de la lumi\u00e8re interactive utilis\u00e9e sur \u00ab Le Livre de la Jungle \u00bb de Favreau et les plans VR utilis\u00e9s sur \u00ab Le Roi Lion \u00bb. Les d\u00e9cors sont donc enti\u00e8rement mod\u00e9lis\u00e9s en amont \u00e0 partir de photos d\u2019environnements choisis, pour cr\u00e9er un studio sur 360\u00b0. Mais l\u2019innovation ne s\u2019arr\u00eate pas l\u00e0, ILM a combin\u00e9 cette technique avec l\u2019Unreal Engine de chez Epic Games pour adapter les d\u00e9cors avec les mouvements de cam\u00e9ra en temps r\u00e9el pour parer \u00e0 l\u2019effet de parallaxe. \u00ab Le Volume \u00bb s\u2019impose donc comme \u00ab la \u00bb cr\u00e9ation de \u00ab The Mandalorian \u00bb permettant de tr\u00e8s nombreux avantages pour les acteurs, le chef op. les r\u00e9alisateurs et r\u00e9duisant fortement le temps de post-production.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15984 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2500.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2500.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2500-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2500-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2500-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>Mais tout n\u2019est pas projet\u00e9 sur \u00e9cran, l\u2019\u00e9quipe a \u00e9galement construit une partie des d\u00e9cors, les maquettes, accessoires et autres d\u00e9cors se m\u00ealant donc aux \u00e9crans en fonction des mouvements de cam\u00e9ra. Comme toute cr\u00e9ation Star Wars, \u00ab The Mandalorian \u00bb prolonge donc la longue liste d\u2019innovations technologiques d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es par George Lucas et ILM. Et dans la tradition des films Star Wars, la s\u00e9rie utilisa \u00e9galement un maximum d\u2019effets pratiques que ce soit costumes, aliens, dro\u00efdes, jawas etc, aucune sc\u00e8ne ne fut tourn\u00e9e en Mocap. L\u2019\u00e9quipe de LEGACY utilisa une marionnette incroyablement vivante pour Baby Yoda \u00e9quip\u00e9e de proth\u00e8ses et d\u2019animatroniques. Les techniques originelles de Star Wars furent \u00e9galement r\u00e9utilis\u00e9es comme la stop-motion ou les miniatures pour certaines sc\u00e8nes. La s\u00e9rie se distingue donc par son innovation technologique et sa r\u00e9utilisation de techniques d\u2019\u00e9poque. Un ensemble rendant l\u2019esprit Star Wars en somme.<\/p><p>Les d\u00e9bats sur tables rondes mod\u00e9r\u00e9s par Jon Favreau mettent en valeur sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 mettre en place une \u00e9quipe talentueuse et efficace sans n\u00e9cessairement d\u00e9penser un budget de long-m\u00e9trage. Un vrai producteur ex\u00e9cutif en somme. Pourrait-il \u00eatre le Kevin Feige de Lucasfilm de mani\u00e8re peut-\u00eatre plus impliqu\u00e9 dans l\u2019univers que Kathleen Kennedy, la question reste ouverte. Quoi qu\u2019il en soit, on ne peut nier que l\u2019\u00e9quipe de r\u00e9alisateurs fut particuli\u00e8rement bien choisie. D\u2019une part, le sp\u00e9cialiste de Star Wars de l\u2019\u00e9quipe, Dave Filoni se lance dans la r\u00e9alisation en live-action apr\u00e8s sa carri\u00e8re de dessin et Deborah Chow fait preuve d\u2019une grande efficacit\u00e9 sur le plateau lui ayant valu de r\u00e9aliser la s\u00e9rie Kenobi, mais d\u2019autre part l\u2019ambiance g\u00e9n\u00e9rale sur le plateau avec Taika Waititi, Rick Famuyiwa et Bryce Dallas Howard est tr\u00e8s amicale presque familiale. La s\u00e9rie aurait donc transmis l\u2019esprit familial de Star Wars \u00e9galement sur le plateau ou dans ce cas, dans \u00ab le volume \u00bb.<\/p><p>La forte collaboration entre les \u00e9quipes de Lucasfilm, d\u2019ILM et celles de tournage ont ainsi permis un d\u00e9veloppement de l\u2019univers qui appara\u00eet logique et cr\u00e9dible en fonction de la p\u00e9riode dans laquelle l\u2019intrigue se situe. La connectivit\u00e9 est par ailleurs tr\u00e8s impressionnante avec de nombreuses esp\u00e8ces dites secondaires et peu utilis\u00e9es dans les films et des accessoires issus d\u2019autres contenus Star Wars tels que le darksaber de Pre Vizsla (interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 par Favreau dans The Clone Wars) ou encore le coffre de Willrow Hood popularis\u00e9 par les C\u00e9l\u00e9brations. Ne disposant pas d\u2019assez de costumes de Stormtrooper, Dave Filoni fit \u00e9galement appel \u00e0 la 501\u00e8me L\u00e9gion pour jouer dans le final de la s\u00e9rie. Tout cela participe \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9paisseur du r\u00e9cit d\u00e9crit qui peut \u00e9galement s\u2019appr\u00e9cier pour ses d\u00e9tails, r\u00e9f\u00e9rences et hommages.<\/p><p>Star Wars est un conte moderne, inspir\u00e9 de tr\u00e8s nombreuses sources mythologiques ou cin\u00e9matographiques. La s\u00e9rie cherche donc \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper cette mythologie, ce conte pour enfant, en s\u2019int\u00e9ressant cette fois en particulier aux aspects samoura\u00efs et western de Star Wars. The combination of explanations on the \u00ab\u00a0making-of\u00a0\u00bb style and round-table discussions creates a friendly atmosphere while explaining the shooting process.<\/p><p>I won&rsquo;t go into the details of the explanations given throughout the series, but I will allow myself to put forward a few points that are important or that particularly reflect this series in my opinion. Regarding the actors, it is clear that Carl Weathers was \u00ab\u00a0the\u00a0\u00bb superstar of the set, inspiring the new Gina Carrano more used to her rings and tatamis than to the cameras, but forced to get used to playing in front of a mask and a mirror. These are the two factors to take into account when playing in front of a mandalorian wearing a helmet and armor. And in the tradition of Star Wars movies, the series also used a maximum of practical effects such as costumes, aliens, droids, Jawas etc., no scene was shot in Mocap. The LEGACY team used an incredibly alive puppet for Baby Yoda equipped with prosthetics and animatronics. The original Star Wars techniques were also reused such as stop-motion or miniatures for some scenes. The series, therefore, stands out for its technological innovation and its reuse of techniques from the past. A true executive producer in short. Could he be Lucasfilm&rsquo;s Kevin Feige in a way that is perhaps more involved in the universe than Kathleen Kennedy, the question remains open. Connectivity is also very impressive with numerous so-called secondary species that are rarely used in films and props from other Star Wars content such as the darksaber from Pre Vizsla (voiced by Favreau in The Clone Wars) or the Willrow Hood box popularized by the Celebrations. Not having enough Stormtrooper costumes, Dave Filoni also called upon the 501st Legion to play in the series finale. All this contributes to the depth of the story described, which can also be appreciated for its details, references, and homages.<\/p><p>Star Wars is a modern tale, inspired by many mythological or cinematographic sources.
