pressentiment\u201d tout \u00e0 coup et non \u2026 \u201cTelle n\u2019est pas la voie\u201d !<\/p><p>Le retour de Mando sur nos \u00e9crans apr\u00e8s l\u2019interlude de Boba Fett l\u2019an dernier \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s attendu suite aux deux excellentes premi\u00e8res saisons d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es par le duo Favreau-Filoni. Mais ils passent cette fois \u00e0 des parsecs de leur sujet avec une troisi\u00e8me saison extr\u00eamement d\u00e9cevante et fondamentalement mal con\u00e7ue. Outre l\u2019immense d\u00e9ception procur\u00e9e \u2013 qui n\u2019est finalement que le fruit de nos attentes \u2013 quelles sont donc v\u00e9ritablement les faiblesses de cette saison ?<\/p><p>Les probl\u00e8mes sont nombreux, de sa structure \u00e0 son ex\u00e9cution en passant par son intrigue, ses dialogues ainsi que sa propre coh\u00e9rence. La premi\u00e8re saison suivait une structure propre aux feuilletons de l\u2019\u00e2ge d\u2019or des westerns avec une aventure hebdomadaire, de nouvelles rencontres, une qu\u00eate secondaire pour avancer dans la principale et un l\u00e9ger arc narratif en fond. Elle avait le don d\u2019adapter dans l\u2019univers<em> Star Wars<\/em> un style de western diff\u00e9rent \u00e0 chaque chapitre tout en introduisant des personnages et une culture. La seconde saison approfondissait cette base tout en ancrant davantage son protagoniste au reste de l\u2019univers lan\u00e7ant ainsi une intrigue de fond aux enjeux plus larges impliquant l\u2019ensemble des personnages.<\/p><p>Or, cette troisi\u00e8me saison poursuit cette intrigue en maintenant une structure, similaire \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re, qui s\u2019av\u00e8re compl\u00e8tement inadapt\u00e9e. La r\u00e9solution des diff\u00e9rents probl\u00e8mes et questions abord\u00e9s est alors soit tout bonnement ignor\u00e9e soit b\u00e2cl\u00e9e au profit de qu\u00eates secondaires cassant le rythme. La saison p\u00e2tit de plus des deux parenth\u00e8ses mandaloriennes du \u00ab Livre de Boba Fett \u00bb qui avaient rendu sans tarder Grogu \u00e0 son p\u00e8re adoptif. Mais au-del\u00e0 de la structure de la saison en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, celle des \u00e9pisodes m\u00eames pose question avec par exemple un cinqui\u00e8me \u00e9pisode faisant escale sur Coruscant et abandonnant ses personnages et sa ligne directrice. Cela ne veut pas dire que toutes les s\u00e9quences sont purement mauvaises, mais elles sont clairement mal structur\u00e9es.<\/p><p>Si la r\u00e9alisation laisse par moments \u00e0 d\u00e9sirer, notamment lors des sc\u00e8nes d\u2019action \u00e0 terre ou dans le choix des plans et les limites du volume d\u2019<em>ILM<\/em>, c\u2019est bien le sc\u00e9nario qui s\u2019impose comme la grande catastrophe de cette saison aussi maudite que sa plan\u00e8te phare. Les dialogues sont exclusivement descriptifs et tout simplement vides de sens. Les \u00e9l\u00e9ments centraux de l\u2019intrigue sont rapidement balay\u00e9s et le parcours des protagonistes, qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse de l\u2019\u00e9mancipation de Din ou du leadership de Bo-Katan, cherche encore sa route. Bo devient ainsi une figure de proue qui ne fait pas ses propres choix, Din subit le cours des \u00e9v\u00e9nements de sa propre s\u00e9rie, et Grogu regarde le g\u00e9n\u00e9rique d\u00e9filer. D\u2019autant que si cette saison manque d\u2019enjeux et de motivations, elle a d\u00e9finitivement laiss\u00e9 la logique au statioport. Elle se contredit \u00e0 de nombreuses reprises et tourne vite en rond dans une intrigue qui aurait pu tenir en trois \u00e9pisodes. Or d\u00e9velopper plus ses protagonistes, leurs oppositions et leurs points de concordance et les \u00e9tapes cl\u00e9s de l\u2019intrigue aurait pu cr\u00e9er de l\u2019\u00e9motion, mais seule la frustration subsiste.<\/p><p>Elle n\u2019insiste pas assez sur ses bonnes id\u00e9es qui auraient d\u00fb \u00e9mouvoir et \u00eatre plus impactantes et se retrouve ainsi d\u00e9nu\u00e9e de tension et d\u2019humour. C\u2019est donc une belle d\u00e9ception autant d\u2019un point de vue \u00e9motionnel que rationnel avec un sc\u00e9nario creux et une r\u00e9alisation assez faible, le tout pour une saison \u00e0 $120M.<\/p><p>Dit comme cela, on dirait qu\u2019il n\u2019y a rien qui va, mais ce n\u2019est pas totalement vrai. Il y a bien quelques bonnes id\u00e9es, une excellente mod\u00e9lisation des vaisseaux, une ma\u00eetrise dans l\u2019ensemble des sc\u00e8nes \u201ca\u00e9riennes\u201d, et surtout un excellent septi\u00e8me \u00e9pisode \u2013 d\u00e9nu\u00e9 des faiblesses pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es plus haut \u2013 qui semble un peu perdu au milieu du chaos et qui a le malheur de redonner espoir juste avant le final ! Il est vrai, que cette saison r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 formidablement bien cacher ses qualit\u00e9s. But this time they miss the point by a few parsecs with an extremely disappointing and inherently flawed third season. Besides the huge disappointment \u2013 which in the end is only due to our expectations \u2013 what are then really the weaknesses of this season?<\/p><p>The issues are manifold, from its structure to its execution, its plot, its dialogues as well as its own coherence. The first season followed the structure of the Golden Age of Westerns with a weekly adventure, new encounters, a side quest to move the main one forward and a small story arc in the background. It provided the ability to adapt a different style of western into the Star Wars universe with each chapter while introducing characters and culture. The second season deepened this foundation while further anchoring its protagonist to the rest of the universe and setting up a larger storyline involving all the characters.<\/p><p>However, this third season carries on this plot while maintaining a structure, similar to the first one, which proves to be completely inadequate. The resolution of the various problems and questions addressed is then either simply ignored or rushed in favor of side quests breaking the momentum. The season also suffers from the two Mandalorian interludes in \u201cThe Book of Boba Fett\u201d that promptly returned Grogu to his adoptive father. But beyond the structure of the season as a whole, the structure of the episodes themselves is questionable with, for example, the fifth one taking a stopover on Coruscant and ditching its characters and its storyline. This does not mean that all the sequences are purely bad, but they are clearly badly structured.<\/p><p>If the direction is also problematic at times, especially during the action scenes on the ground or in the shots\u2019 selection and the limits of ILM&rsquo;s volume, it is definitely the script that stands out as the big failure of this season as cursed as its key planet. The dialogues are exclusively descriptive and quite simply meaningless. The main plot points are quickly swept away and the protagonists&rsquo; journey, whether it is Din&rsquo;s emancipation or Bo-Katan&rsquo;s leadership, remains in search of its way. Bo thus becomes a leading figure who does not make her own choices, Din endures the course of events in his own series, and Grogu just watches the credits roll. Moreover, as much as this season lacks stakes and motivations, it has definitely left reasoning at the spaceport. It is inconsistent on many occasions and gets quickly lost in a plot that could have fit in three episodes. Yet further developing its protagonists, their oppositions and concordance points and the key stages of the plot could have generated emotion, but only frustration remains.<\/p><p>It does not stress enough its good ideas that should have been moving and more impactful and is thereby lacking in tension and humor. It is therefore a major disappointment from an emotional as well as a rational point of view with a poor script and a rather weak direction, despite a $120M budget.<\/p><p>When you say it like that, it sounds like there is nothing good, but it&rsquo;s not entirely true. There are some good ideas, excellent modeling of the ships, a good direction of the \u00ab\u00a0starship\u00a0\u00bb scenes, and especially a great seventh episode \u2013 stripped of the weaknesses above \u2013 which seems a bit lost in the middle of the mess and which has the misfortune to bring back hope just before the finale! This season manages to hide its qualities tremendously well. let&rsquo;s get to the \u201cAhsoka\u201d series written and directed by its founding father, Dave Filoni, next August \u2013 fingers crossed \u2013 before tackling the very intriguing \u201cThe Acolyte\u201d show and getting back to season 2 of the brilliant \u201cAndor\u201d series in 2024!<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div
