Cela pourrait presque \u00eatre une s\u00e9rie diff\u00e9rente (ou spin-off) avec une grosse ellipse de trois ans, un changement complet de lieux (du d\u00e9sert chaud et aride sah\u00e9lien aux d\u00e9cors enneig\u00e9s et froids ukrainiens), un changement de point de vue \u00e9galement pour deux des personnages principaux (l\u2019une agit en qualit\u00e9 de civile quand l\u2019autre a quitt\u00e9 l\u2019arm\u00e9e entre les deux saisons), ainsi qu\u2019un changement radical de rythme en passant d\u2019une premi\u00e8re saison qui parlait de l\u2019impuissance de la France en Afrique et d\u2019un ennemi difficile \u00e0 trouver en filmant l\u2019attente quasi-constante des militaires quand la seconde saison est beaucoup plus dans l\u2019urgence ne se d\u00e9roulant que sur trois-quatre jours.<\/p><p>Mais cela reste n\u00e9anmoins, et bel et bien, une suite et donc une seconde saison de \u00ab\u00a0Sentinelles\u00a0\u00bb dans la mesure o\u00f9 l\u2019histoire garde le m\u00eame cap\u00a0: celui d\u2019une histoire intime aux fronti\u00e8res de la guerre qui raconte avant tout un r\u00e9cit humain et r\u00e9agit \u00e0 chaud sur des sujets d\u2019actualit\u00e9 qui parlent aussi bien de la population fran\u00e7aise d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui que de son arm\u00e9e dans le contexte actuel. Le but n\u2019a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 de filmer les combats, ce n\u2019est clairement pas une s\u00e9rie de guerre, c\u2019est une s\u00e9rie sur la guerre qui la raconte \u00e0 hauteur de civils.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15754 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2412.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2412.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2412-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2412-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2412-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>Suite au retrait des troupes fran\u00e7aises du Mali quelques semaines seulement apr\u00e8s la diffusion de la premi\u00e8re saison, la d\u00e9cision avait \u00e9t\u00e9 prise de d\u00e9localiser l\u2019intrigue en pensant tout d\u2019abord \u00e0 la ligne bleue fronti\u00e8re d\u2019Isra\u00ebl. Mais quand la guerre a \u00e9clat\u00e9 sur notre propre continent, le sc\u00e9nario a bascul\u00e9 pour conter les premiers jours de l\u2019invasion russe sous l\u2019\u0153il d\u2019Occidentaux civils tentant de fuir et militaires stationn\u00e9s en Roumanie.<\/p><p>Si on ajoute \u00e0 cela le fait que la premi\u00e8re saison \u00e9tait diffus\u00e9e sur une cha\u00eene qui a depuis disparu, l\u2019on comprend mieux ce contexte complexe qui aboutit \u00e0 un titre hybride comme \u00ab\u00a0Sentinelles \u2013 Ukraine Saison 2\u00a0\u00bb et \u00e0 un premier \u00e9pisode laissant le spectateur seul pour rattraper le retard pris avec les personnages qu\u2019il retrouve car la s\u00e9rie ne se concentre jamais sur leur pass\u00e9 et va toujours de l\u2019avant. On ne peut s\u2019emp\u00eacher donc de regretter d\u2019une part qu\u2019un petit r\u00e9capitulatif (\u00e0 l\u2019Am\u00e9ricaine) ne soit pas pr\u00e9sent en d\u00e9but de saison dans un cas pareil, et d\u2019autre part que les th\u00e9matiques et interrogations du terrain malien ne soient pas poursuivies (voire conclues) en particulier au regard du retrait g\u00e9n\u00e9ralis\u00e9 des troupes fran\u00e7aises dans toute la r\u00e9gion sah\u00e9lienne.<\/p><p>Mais ce serait reprocher \u00e0 la s\u00e9rie ce qu\u2019elle n\u2019est pas, ce n\u2019est pas une s\u00e9rie g\u00e9opolitique ou s\u00e9curitaire, mais bien une s\u00e9rie avant tout intimiste qui raconte une forme d\u2019humanit\u00e9 dans ce grand catalyseur d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nements que sont les guerres. Elle ne cherche donc pas non plus \u00e0 d\u00e9peindre une fresque historique retra\u00e7ant l\u2019int\u00e9gralit\u00e9 de la guerre en Ukraine mais bien \u00e0 en raconter ses pr\u00e9misses \u00e0 travers le regard de civils d\u00e9couvrant les questions de vie et de mort en entrechoquant le moment le plus vuln\u00e9rable de leur existence jusqu\u2019ici sans danger et leur moment le plus intime, la naissance d\u2019un enfant.<\/p><p>Si les \u00e9l\u00e9ments narratifs d\u2019introduction de cette seconde saison peuvent sembler un peu faciles pour cr\u00e9er une intrigue avec les personnages de la saison 1 mais en Ukraine (alors qu\u2019aucun militaire fran\u00e7ais n\u2019y est officiellement pr\u00e9sent), ils ne sont certainement pas abandonn\u00e9s au rang de pr\u00e9texte dans la mesure o\u00f9 ils sont ensuite d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s pour devenir les th\u00e9matiques centrales de cette saison et tisser une passionnante r\u00e9flexion sur la maternit\u00e9 et la gestation pour autrui.<\/p><p>Vie priv\u00e9e et professionnelle vont ainsi se croiser des deux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de la fronti\u00e8re dans un r\u00e9cit intense et captivant remarquablement \u00e9crit \u2013 au gr\u00e9 de dialogues multilingues de qualit\u00e9 \u2013 et mis en sc\u00e8ne avec \u00e9pure et r\u00e9alisme par Jean-Philippe Amar. De par les circonstances de cette saison, les personnages se retrouvent s\u00e9par\u00e9s entre une course contre la montre sur les routes du Donbass (tourn\u00e9e en Lituanie) et l\u2019attente strat\u00e9gique des militaires post\u00e9s \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re roumaine, ce qui cr\u00e9e un l\u00e9ger d\u00e9s\u00e9quilibre d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat mais r\u00e9ussit un difficile compromis de seconde saison d\u00e9localis\u00e9e et envoy\u00e9e au front. It could almost be a different series (or a spin-off), with a major three-year time jump, a complete change of location (from the hot, arid Sahelian desert to the cold, snowy Ukrainian landscape), a change of point of view for two of the main characters (one acts as a civilian while the other has left the army between the two seasons), as well as a radical change of pace, from a first season about France&rsquo;s impotence in Africa and a hard-to-find enemy, showing the military&rsquo;s near-constant waiting, to a second season much more in a hurry, taking place over just three or four days.<\/p><p>But this is still a sequel, and therefore a second season of \u201cSentinelles\u201d, insofar as the story remains true to form: this is an intimate story on the fringes of war, which above all tells a human story and provides an on-the-spot look at topical issues that speak as much to the French population of today as to its army in the current context. The aim has never been to capture the fighting; this is clearly not a war series, but rather a series about war that looks at it from the point of view of civilians.<\/p><p>Following the withdrawal of French troops from Mali just a few weeks after the first season aired, the decision was made to relocate the plot, initially thinking of Israel&rsquo;s blue line border. But when war broke out on our own continent, the script shifted to tell the story of the first days of the Russian invasion, seen through the eyes of Western civilians trying to flee and soldiers stationed in Romania.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15754 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2412.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2412.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2412-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2412-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Snapshot_2412-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>Add to this the fact that the first season was airing on a channel that no longer exists, and it&rsquo;s easy to understand the complex context that led to a hybrid title like \u201cSentinelles \u2013 Ukraine Season 2\u201d and a first episode that leaves the viewer alone to catch up with the characters they meet again, as the series never focuses on their past and always moves forward. It&rsquo;s unfortunate, then, that a little (American-style) recap isn&rsquo;t provided at the start of the season in a case like this, and that the themes and issues raised in Mali are not carried on (or even wrapped up), particularly in view of the widespread withdrawal of French troops throughout the Sahel region.<\/p><p>But that would be blaming the series for something it isn&rsquo;t: it is not a geopolitical or military series, but rather an intimate one that tells the story of a kind of humanity in this great catalyst of events that war is. Nor does it seek to depict a historical epic retracing the entirety of the war in Ukraine, but rather to tell the story of its beginnings through the eyes of civilians discovering the questions of life and death as they grapple with the most vulnerable moment of their hitherto harmless existence and their most intimate one, the birth of a child.<\/p><p>While the opening plot points of this second season may seem a little convenient for creating a storyline with the characters from season 1, but in the Ukraine (where no French military personnel are officially deployed), they are certainly not abandoned as a pretext, as they are then developed into the main themes of this season, weaving a fascinating reflection on motherhood and surrogacy.<\/p><p>Personal and professional lives therefore cross paths on both sides of the border in an intense and captivating story, remarkably written \u2013 with high-quality multilingual dialogue \u2013 and directed with elegance and realism by Jean-Philippe Amar. Due to the context of this season, the characters find themselves separated between a race against time on the roads of Donbass (shot in Lithuania) and the strategic standby of soldiers stationed on the Romanian border, which creates a slight imbalance of interest but achieves the difficult compromise of a second season relocated and sent to the front. All in all, although at first glance disconnected, this second season succeeds in its mission and hits the bull&rsquo;s-eye.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s
