Engrenages), \u00ab Sentinelles \u00bb raconte l\u2019histoire d\u2019une section de l\u2019arm\u00e9e de terre d\u00e9ploy\u00e9e dans le cadre de l\u2019op\u00e9ration Barkhane. La s\u00e9rie nous plonge dans la complexit\u00e9 des opex avec \u00e0 la fois une immersion dans le quotidien des militaires et une interrogation sur le bien-fond\u00e9 de l\u2019intervention fran\u00e7aise au Sahel.<\/p><p>L\u2019arm\u00e9e doit en effet composer dans sa traque djihadiste avec une population locale qui accepte de moins en moins la pr\u00e9sence fran\u00e7aise depuis le changement du p\u00e9rim\u00e8tre d\u2019intervention de l\u2019op\u00e9ration Serval et l\u2019enlisement face \u00e0 la prolif\u00e9ration des groupes arm\u00e9s sur les braises de conflits mal \u00e9teints et la menace d\u2019un nouveau califat. Mais \u00ab Sentinelles \u00bb n\u2019est pas une dissertation de g\u00e9opolitique, ces probl\u00e9matiques ne sont en effet trait\u00e9es qu\u2019\u00e0 travers le biais des personnages. C\u2019est l\u00e0, la grande force de la s\u00e9rie, elle met en sc\u00e8ne une grande vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de personnages de la femme officier au sergent noir et musulman, en passant par le h\u00e9ros militaire dichotomique. Ils sont d\u2019origines sociales diff\u00e9rentes, de croyances divergentes et laissent entrevoir leurs failles lorsque confront\u00e9s \u00e0 des notions inh\u00e9rentes \u00e0 l\u2019arm\u00e9e comme la mort, la peur ou la culpabilit\u00e9. L\u2019uniforme doit ainsi gommer ces diff\u00e9rences et d\u00e9saccords au gr\u00e9 d\u2019un projet r\u00e9publicain dont les valeurs sont compatibles voire compl\u00e9mentaires \u00e0 celles d\u2019un Islam remis en question et point\u00e9 du doigt par l\u2019opinion publique. C\u2019est donc une \u00ab grande muette \u00bb tr\u00e8s bavarde qui est ici d\u00e9peinte, une utopie universaliste dans un contexte post-colonial et post-Bataclan o\u00f9 la s\u00e9rie fait avant tout ressortir l\u2019humain confront\u00e9 \u00e0 ses sentiments et ses appr\u00e9hensions.<\/p><p>\u00ab Sentinelles \u00bb n\u2019est pas un presque-documentaire comme \u00ab Mon L\u00e9gionnaire \u00bb de Rachel Lang, l\u2019on peut en effet noter quelques transgressions techniques dues \u00e0 la romancisation de cette fiction, mais la s\u00e9rie reste particuli\u00e8rement minutieuse sur le fond. Elle pourra ainsi s\u2019apparenter \u00e0 des s\u00e9ries telles que \u00ab Un Village Fran\u00e7ais \u00bb ou \u00ab Le Bureau des L\u00e9gendes \u00bb pour son r\u00e9alisme et son intensit\u00e9 mais moins pour son suspense ou la profondeur de l\u2019intrigue. Ce n\u2019est pas que le sc\u00e9nario ne s\u2019y pr\u00eate pas mais il ne rentre pas encore dans cette premi\u00e8re saison dans les m\u00e9andres de la g\u00e9opolitique sah\u00e9lienne. N\u00e9anmoins, les bases pos\u00e9es par ces sept premiers \u00e9pisodes peuvent tout \u00e0 fait permettre de s\u2019y attaquer dans une seconde saison. Le choix de sujet et de temporalit\u00e9 pour celle-ci sera d\u2019ailleurs int\u00e9ressant en restant sur place pour d\u00e9velopper les relations et les enjeux ou en suivant l\u2019actualit\u00e9 imm\u00e9diate avec le retrait des forces Barkhane et Takuba du Mali et leurs lourdes cons\u00e9quences.<\/p><p>Ce sont donc ses personnages attachants jou\u00e9s avec talents par l\u2019ensemble des acteurs qui illuminent l\u2019\u00e9cran et portent cette s\u00e9rie dont la r\u00e9alisation sans gros budget soutient \u00e9galement parfaitement son propos. Elle met en sc\u00e8ne un milieu hostile avec ses plans du d\u00e9sert marocain et des nombreux scarab\u00e9es maliens dans les couleurs chaudes d\u2019un environnement asphyxiant faisant peser une forte pression morale sur les troupes. Ce n\u2019est pas une s\u00e9rie de guerre ou d\u2019action, c\u2019est une s\u00e9rie sur la guerre o\u00f9 les tensions entre les hommes et les femmes qui y sont confront\u00e9s sont le nerf de l\u2019action.<\/p><p>Au final, \u00ab Sentinelles \u00bb est avant tout un portrait de la jeunesse fran\u00e7aise et une nouvelle s\u00e9rie hexagonale de grande qualit\u00e9 !<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Rapha\u00ebl Sallenave<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-42480e6 elementor-widget__width-initial exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"42480e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><p>Never before has the topic been tackled in a French series, and now with \u201cSentinelles\u201d, the war in Mali becomes the very subject of this new series produced by <em>Orange Studio<\/em> and available on <em>OCS<\/em> since April.<\/p><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Created by Thibault Valetoux (Totems) and Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Krivine (Un village fran\u00e7ais), and directed by Jean-Philippe Amar (Un village fran\u00e7ais; Spiral), \u201cSentinelles\u201d tells the story of an army platoon deployed as part of Operation Barkhane. The show brings us into the complexity of an opex with both an immersion into the daily life of the military and a reflection on the legitimacy of the French intervention in Sahel.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Indeed, the army has to deal with a local population that is less and less willing to accept the French presence since the change in the scope of intervention of Operation Serval and the stalemate in the face of the proliferation of armed groups on the embers of conflicts that have not been properly extinguished and the threat of a new caliphate. But \u201cSentinelles\u201d is not a geopolitical dissertation, these issues are actually only addressed through the characters. And that&rsquo;s the strength of this show, it features a wide range of characters from the female officer to the black and Muslim sergeant, as well as the dichotomous military hero. They come from different social backgrounds, have conflicting beliefs and show their weaknesses when confronted with notions inherent to the military such as death, fear or guilt. The uniform must thus erase those differences and disagreements in line with a republican vision whose values are compatible or even complementary to those of an Islam that is called into question and pointed out by public opinion. It is therefore a very talkative \u00ab\u00a0Grande muette\u00a0\u00bb (Great Mute) that is portrayed here, a universalist utopia in a post-colonial and post-Bataclan context where the series primarily draws out the human confronted with its feelings and concerns.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u201cSentinelles\u201d is not an almost-documentary like Rachel Lang&rsquo;s latest \u201cOur Men\u201d, one can indeed notice some technical transgressions due to the dramatization of this fiction, but the show remains particularly thorough in its content. It can thus be compared to series such as \u201cUn Village Fran\u00e7ais\u201d or \u201cThe Bureau\u201d for its realism and its intensity, but less for its suspense or depth of plot. It&rsquo;s not that the script doesn&rsquo;t provide enough, but in this first season it doesn&rsquo;t yet go into the intricacies of Sahelian geopolitics. Nevertheless, the foundations laid by these first seven episodes can be used to tackle them in a second season. The choice of subject and temporality for this one will in fact be interesting either by staying on the spot to develop the relationships and the stakes or by following the current events with the withdrawal of the Barkhane and Takuba forces from Mali and its heavy consequences.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">It is therefore its endearing characters played with talent by the whole cast that shine on the screen and carry this series whose direction with no big budget also perfectly supports its purpose. It stages a hostile environment with its shots of the Moroccan desert and the numerous Malian beetles in the hot colors of an asphyxiating setting exerting a strong moral pressure on the troops. This is not a war show or an action show, it is a show about war where the tensions between the men and women facing it are the essence of the action.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Ultimately, \u201cSentinelles\u201d is above all a portrait of French youth and an excellent new series from France!<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Rapha\u00ebl
