Un cin\u00e9ma de la fr\u00e9n\u00e9sie, au montage ultra pr\u00e9cis.<\/p><p>Avec \u00ab Limonov \u00bb, le r\u00e9alisateur russe joue sur les formats, sur les archives et sur la v\u00e9rit\u00e9. Il tourne un biopic qui n\u2019en est pas vraiment un, comme ne l\u2019\u00e9tait pas non plus \u00ab La femme de Tcha\u00efkovski \u00bb. C\u2019est ce pas de c\u00f4t\u00e9 dans l\u2019Histoire qui porte ces films en dehors du carcan biopico-traditionnel. Prendre le regard de la femme du c\u00e9l\u00e8bre compositeur dans \u00ab La femme de Tcha\u00efkovski \u00bb ou le point de vue de la d\u00e9raison et de la folie dans \u00ab Limonov \u00bb, sont des partis pris qui forgent toute la singularit\u00e9 du cin\u00e9ma de Kirill Serebrennikov.<\/p><p>Un cin\u00e9ma endurant, sur-d\u00e9coup\u00e9 et qui nous plonge dans une artificialit\u00e9 du d\u00e9cor. Le film porte aussi toute la violence d\u2019un personnage comme Limonov, jamais r\u00e9ellement \u00e0 sa place et qui baigne dans une \u00e9paisse frustration. Pour Serebrennikov, Limonov est un com\u00e9dien, un pitre au service du Kremlin et \u00e0 l\u2019id\u00e9ologie nationaliste rance.<\/p><p>Que dire de Ben Wishaw qui porte un personnage aussi sulfureux et provocateur avec une telle aisance de jeu, au point que seul le personnage de Limonov appara\u00eet \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cran effa\u00e7ant toute trace de son interpr\u00e8te. Un choix de casting aussi inattendu que judicieux tant le film joue sur les formats, et les espaces, telle une grande pi\u00e8ce de th\u00e9\u00e2tre contemporain. Les d\u00e9cors se succ\u00e8dent comme si nous franchissions une porte, ou que les rideaux se baissaient, modifiant l\u2019espace sc\u00e9nique s\u00e9quence apr\u00e8s s\u00e9quence. It&rsquo;s a cinema of frenzy, with highly refined editing.<\/p><p>With \u201cLimonov: The Ballad of Eddie\u201d, the Russian director plays with aspect ratios, archives and the truth. He makes a biopic that is not really a biopic, just as \u201cTchaikovsky&rsquo;s Wife\u201d was not either. It&rsquo;s this lateral step into history that takes these films out of the biopic-traditional realm. Taking the viewpoint of the famous composer&rsquo;s wife in \u201cTchaikovsky&rsquo;s Wife\u201d, or the point of view of unreason and madness in \u201cLimonov: The Ballad of Eddie\u201d, are the choices that forge the singularity of Kirill Serebrennikov&rsquo;s cinema.<\/p><p>This is an enduring, highly cut cinema that draws us into the artificiality of the setting. The film also bears all the violence of a character like Limonov, never really in his right place and steeped in thick frustration. For Serebrennikov, Limonov is a comedian, a fool doing the Kremlin&rsquo;s bidding with a rancid nationalist ideology.<\/p><p>And what about Ben Wishaw, who portrays such a sulphureous and defiant character with such ease, to the point where only Limonov&rsquo;s character appears on screen, obliterating the slightest shadow of his performer. This casting choice is as unexpected as it is clever, as the film toys with aspect ratios and spaces like a great contemporary play. One set follows another as if we were stepping through a door, or the curtains were drawn, altering the scenic space frame after frame. The choice of Ben Wishaw as a stage actor gives the film all its theatricality, and brings us to the heart of a farce with political overtones.<\/p><p>Sacha
