cosmique et politique &amp; fantastique !<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Arcane<\/strong><\/p><p>Plus de six ans de travail, une centaine d\u2019artistes \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153uvre, un impressionnant budget de $250M, une reconnaissance aux Emmy Awards, et un public au rendez-vous mondialement, voil\u00e0 l\u2019une des s\u00e9ries de l\u2019ann\u00e9e et certainement l\u2019un des plus gros projets diffus\u00e9s sur <em>Netflix<\/em>. D\u00e9riv\u00e9 de l\u2019univers de \u00ab\u00a0League of Legends\u00a0\u00bb, l\u2019un des jeux vid\u00e9o les plus populaires de l\u2019histoire, la s\u00e9rie \u00ab\u00a0Arcane\u00a0\u00bb s\u2019impose aussi bien comme l\u2019une des toutes meilleures s\u00e9ries d\u2019animation que comme l\u2019une des meilleures adaptations de jeux-vid\u00e9o. Loin d\u2019\u00eatre r\u00e9serv\u00e9e aux joueurs de la licence ou aux adeptes de <em>fantasy<\/em>, \u00ab\u00a0Arcane\u00a0\u00bb d\u00e9veloppe un sc\u00e9nario in\u00e9dit bas\u00e9 sur le jeu vid\u00e9o mais parfaitement accessible aux n\u00e9ophytes. Jamais autant de temps et de moyens n\u2019avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 allou\u00e9s \u00e0 une s\u00e9rie d\u2019animation que pour cette production du studio am\u00e9ricain <em>Riot Games<\/em> r\u00e9alis\u00e9e par le studio d\u2019animation fran\u00e7ais <em>Fortiche<\/em> dont le choc esth\u00e9tique la fait entrer dans la l\u00e9gende de l\u2019animation au m\u00eame titre qu\u2019un \u00ab\u00a0Spider-Verse\u00a0\u00bb r\u00e9cemment\u00a0!<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Un style inoubliable &#8230;<\/strong><\/p><p>Du d\u00e9but \u00e0 la fin c\u2019est du grand et pur spectacle gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une mise en sc\u00e8ne absolument folle faite d\u2019une animation \u00e9poustouflante et d\u2019une riche bande-son qui viennent cr\u00e9er une atmosph\u00e8re et un style qui rendent cette s\u00e9rie si singuli\u00e8re. Elle nous plonge en effet dans un univers hybride m\u00ealant 2D et 3D avec des arri\u00e8re-plans comme peints \u00e0 la main et des personnages aux subtils designs dont l\u2019expressivit\u00e9 des visages ressemble \u00e0 de la \u2018<em>mocap<\/em>\u2019 (capture de mouvement sur acteurs) renfor\u00e7ant ainsi le doublage des acteurs et actrices dont le duo Hailee Steinfeld et Ella Purnell au centre du r\u00e9cit. On en prend plein les yeux des d\u00e9tails comme les tressaillements des pupilles aux plans larges mettant en sc\u00e8ne l\u2019univers <em>steampunk<\/em> de la s\u00e9rie. Ce style tr\u00e8s rythm\u00e9 s\u2019accompagne pour l\u2019occasion d\u2019une bande-son remplie d\u2019artistes de renom aux chansons entra\u00eenantes et m\u00e9morables qui enrichissent non seulement les sc\u00e8nes en se fondant dans le style visuel et l\u2019impact \u00e9motionnel, mais aussi les personnages en renseignant leur \u00e9tat d\u2019esprit. Ce style tr\u00e8s musical et pop rend certaines sc\u00e8nes encore plus inoubliables que ce soit lors des confrontations chor\u00e9graphi\u00e9es entre champions ou lors des moments plus d\u00e9chirants d\u2019\u00e9motion. Mais elle se d\u00e9cline aussi selon les lieux avec un style riche en violons et orchestrations pour la ville haute de Piltover quand la ville souterraine de Zaun h\u00e9rite de th\u00e8mes plus \u00e9lectro et rock.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#8230; au service d&rsquo;une riche histoire<br \/><\/strong><\/p><p>Cette distinction musicale se retrouve dans l\u2019architecture et renvoie aux th\u00e8mes principaux de la s\u00e9rie qui se concentre sur un conflit territorial entre une ville aristocrate aux allures victoriennes autoproclam\u00e9e \u2018Cit\u00e9 du Progr\u00e8s\u2019 et sa ville basse, pauvre et dangereuse. \u00ab Arcane \u00bb c\u2019est ainsi un r\u00e9cit de lutte des classes dans un cadre r\u00e9trofuturiste qui joue sur une double \u00e9chelle humaine et soci\u00e9tale. C\u2019est un sc\u00e9nario soign\u00e9 aux enjeux captivants et aux personnages attachants o\u00f9 les femmes d\u00e9tiennent plus d\u2019une cl\u00e9 de l\u2019intrigue. Dans un univers o\u00f9 r\u00e8gne la magie (c\u2019est toute la base du jeu-vid\u00e9o), l\u2019histoire est avant tout port\u00e9e par les relations entre ses personnages avec deux intrigues en parall\u00e8le dans chaque ville, l\u2019une familiale et r\u00e9volutionnaire, et l\u2019autre scientifique et politique. C\u2019est finalement une histoire de familles et d\u2019amiti\u00e9s o\u00f9 les personnages sont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s, nuanc\u00e9s et \u00e9voluent toujours dans des zones grises moralement en commettant des erreurs et devant faire face \u00e0 leurs diff\u00e9rents choix. La s\u00e9rie adopte ainsi un ton tr\u00e8s mature bien qu\u2019elle soit PG-13 (c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire seulement d\u00e9conseill\u00e9e aux moins de 13 ans aux USA).<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SAISON 1<\/strong><\/p><p>La saison 1 sortie en 2021, nous plongeait donc dans cette rivalit\u00e9 opposant deux s\u0153urs orphelines sur fond de conflit entre cit\u00e9s, d\u2019oppositions de classes, et de qu\u00eates technologiques et magiques avec trahisons et surprises au menu. Elle nous offrait un r\u00e9cit complexe aux multiples facettes qui questionnait aussi bien la direction (aux limites de la science) que doit et peut prendre le progr\u00e8s technique en soci\u00e9t\u00e9 et son (in)\u00e9vitable passage par le domaine militaire, mais aussi la (n\u00e9cessaire ?) r\u00e9pression qu\u2019une nation dominante doit maintenir par peur de l\u2019incontr\u00f4lable, ou encore la sant\u00e9 mentale en lambeaux d\u2019une enfant en deuil et ses cons\u00e9quences d\u00e9vastatrices ! Si le r\u00e9cit n\u2019est pas non plus r\u00e9volutionnaire et contient quelques \u00e9l\u00e9ments un peu convenus, il les ex\u00e9cute n\u00e9anmoins parfaitement de sorte que la tension, l\u2019\u00e9motion et les r\u00e9v\u00e9lations soient au rendez-vous. Les enjeux et personnages sont coh\u00e9rents, les dialogues (enrichis par les chansons) percutants et la narration visuelle de la s\u00e9rie \u00e9vite de nous bombarder de sc\u00e8nes d\u2019exposition. Le r\u00e9cit qui tournait autour d\u2019un conflit d\u2019id\u00e9aux et de territoires, vire rapidement dans cette seconde saison \u00e0 un combat mystique pour l\u2019humanit\u00e9. Based on the \u201cLeague of Legends\u201d universe, one of the most popular video games in history, the \u201cArcane\u201d series has established itself both as one of the best animated series of all time and as one of the finest adaptations of video games. Far from being limited to players of the franchise or fantasy fans, \u201cArcane\u201d features a brand-new storyline based on the video game, but entirely open to newcomers. Never before have so much time and resources been devoted to an animated series as for this production by the American studio <em>Riot Games<\/em>, created by the French animation studio <em>Fortiche<\/em>, whose stunning aesthetic has earned it legendary status in the animation world on a par with the recent \u201cSpider-Verse\u201d!<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>What a colorful style &#8230;<\/strong><\/p><p>From start to finish, it&rsquo;s pure spectacle, thanks to an absolutely insane style driven by breathtaking animation and a powerful soundtrack that give this series a unique atmosphere and style. In fact, it takes us into a hybrid world combining 2D and 3D animation, with hand-painted backgrounds and subtle character designs whose facial expressiveness looks just like mocap (motion capture on actors), thereby enhancing the dubbing of the actors and actresses, including the Hailee Steinfeld and Ella Purnell pair at the heart of the story. From details such as the twitching of pupils to wide shots featuring the series&rsquo; <em>steampunk<\/em> universe, we&rsquo;re in for a real treat. But it also varies from place to place, with a style full of violins and orchestrations for the upper town of Piltover, while the undercity of Zaun gets more electro and rock themes.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#8230; for a fascinating story<\/strong><\/p><p>This musical contrast is echoed in the architecture, reflecting the main themes of the series, which focuses on a territorial conflict between an aristocratic city with Victorian looks, self-proclaimed as the \u201cCity of Progress\u201d, and its poor, dangerous lower town. \u201cArcane\u201d is therefore a tale of class struggle in a retro-futuristic framework that draws on a dual human and societal perspective. It&rsquo;s a carefully crafted scenario with captivating stakes and endearing characters, in which women hold more than one key to the plot. In a universe where magic reigns (it&rsquo;s the whole point of the video game), the story is above all driven by the relationships between its characters, with two parallel plots in each city, one family and revolutionary, the other scientific and political. Ultimately, it&rsquo;s a story of families and friendships, where the characters are developed, nuanced and always evolving in morally gray areas, making mistakes and having to face up to their different choices. The series thus takes on a very mature tone, even though it is only PG-13 (meaning not recommended for children under 13 in the US).<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Season One<\/strong><\/p><p>Season 1, released in 2021, thus took us into this rivalry between two orphaned sisters against a backdrop of inter-city conflict, clash of classes, and technological and magical quests, with betrayals and surprises along the way. It was a complex, multilayered tale that questioned the course (at the limits of science) that technical progress must and can take in society and its (in)avoidable path through the military realm, as well as the (necessary?) repression that a ruling nation must uphold for fear of the uncontrollable, as well as the crumbling mental health of a bereaved child and its ravaging consequences! The stakes and characters are consistent, the dialogue (supported by the songs) striking, and the series&rsquo; visual storytelling avoids bombarding us with exposition scenes. As a result, political alliances under the guise of peace and progress are interwoven with scientific and military issues, leading even the best characters to overlook the repercussions (security, economic, environmental) on the people living beneath them. Surprisingly, despite adapting a universe known for its magical nature, the series manages to weave a beautiful story in which magic is indeed at the heart of the plot, but with barely any presence on screen \u2013 like a truly unreachable artifact&#8230;<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Season Two<\/strong><\/p><p>While season 1 took everyone by surprise, the second was logically a must-see of the year, generating huge expectations for a sequel and conclusion to a series that had been so accomplished in the first season. But with such high expectations and <em>Riot Games<\/em>&lsquo; surprisingly risky decision to bring the series to a close, disappointment invaded the battlefield. As a result, the various stakes suffer either by being rushed for some (escalation to war and unification of the city against a foreign enemy), or by not being introduced deeply enough for the new ones (black rose), or even by being abandoned altogether for some (soil pollution, romance between councilors, instability of the arcane itself). The story, which revolves around a conflict of ideals and territory, quickly shifts in this second season to a mystical battle for humanity. The story then struggles (especially in the third act) to juggle its two scales (metaphysical &amp; human), with a proliferation of protagonists, rising stakes and a substitution of the social by the magical. We will also regret a narrative imbalance for certain characters (Ekko) and a haste that makes the story more vague than mysterious (Jayce), but we will nevertheless value the dilemmas of a scientist turned demigod who tries to cure suffering to the point of neglecting free will, or the ecstasy of an alternate reality, as well as a story of sisterhood that highlights the beauty of imperfections.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p><p>While the original five-season plan may not have been sustainable, a third season would clearly have been wise from a narrative standpoint. Nevertheless, season 2 remains delightful for its outstanding technical prowess and its epic or moving moments. We only regret that it didn&rsquo;t take the time to make them all the more memorable and seamless. But the \u201cLeague of Legends\u201d saga isn&rsquo;t over yet, with an open ending for some characters and clues to potential future series in the universe. Be that as it may, for a <em>Fortiche<\/em> studio debut, the overall achievement of this series, which has still managed to create characters we&rsquo;ll sorely miss only after two seasons, is
