Disgust is indeed conveyed throughout the film, but it is also used as a source of unsettling humor. As a true lesson in cinema, \u201cThe Substance\u201d unfolds its concept with frightening efficiency. For if the film shines in its storytelling, it&rsquo;s more a concept than a script. An irresistible concept wrapped up in an array of beautifully designed props.<\/p><p>\u201cThe substance\u201d is designed for Demi Moore, as a retrospective of her as an actress and of the psychological violence of a world built solely on appearances. Thanks to the artistic ingenuity of Coralie Fargeat, Demi Moore explores the malaise of aging women.
