center;\"><strong>Comparaison des adaptations de Kipling<br \/><\/strong><\/p><p>\u00ab\u00a0Mowgli : la l\u00e9gende de la Jungle\u00a0\u00bb est r\u00e9cemment sorti dans un nombre limit\u00e9 de salles aux USA pour ensuite \u00eatre disponible sur <em>Netflix<\/em>. C\u2019est donc l\u2019heure de comparer la derni\u00e8re adaptation cin\u00e9matographique de l\u2019\u0153uvre de Rudyard Kipling avec son frangin de deux ans son a\u00een\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Le livre de la Jungle\u00a0\u00bb r\u00e9alis\u00e9 par Jon Favreau.<\/p><p>Encore un remake, encore un, mais pourquoi ? Oui, encore un, mais celui-ci est en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 assez diff\u00e9rent. Tout d\u2019abord, il faut savoir qu\u2019au moment de se lancer dans le projet Andy Serkis ne savait pas que <em>Disney<\/em> avait \u00e9galement mis en route un nouveau remake du \u00ab\u00a0Livre de la Jungle\u00a0\u00bb. Les deux films \u00e9taient alors suppos\u00e9s sortir tous les deux en 2016. Finalement apr\u00e8s le succ\u00e8s de la version <em>Disney<\/em>, <em>Warner<\/em> d\u00e9cida d\u2019attendre et reporta la sortie de \u00ab\u00a0Mowgli\u00a0\u00bb. Sa sortie fut ainsi report\u00e9e plusieurs fois jusqu\u2019\u00e0 \u00eatre vendu \u00e0 <em>Netflix<\/em> cette ann\u00e9e. Quoi qu\u2019il en soit, il ne s\u2019agit pas d\u2019un remake exact du dessin anim\u00e9 de 1967. En effet \u00ab\u00a0Le Livre de la Jungle\u00a0\u00bb de Favreau ne change pas l\u2019histoire et garde les chansons comme principal ingr\u00e9dient du film, le c\u00f4t\u00e9 musical restant ainsi majeur dans le film. En revanche, \u00ab\u00a0Mowgli : la l\u00e9gende de la Jungle\u00a0\u00bb ne contient pas de chansons, il ne s\u2019agit pas d\u2019un film musical, mais plut\u00f4t d\u2019un film \u00e0 suspense dont l\u2019intrigue concerne un jeune homme tiraill\u00e9 entre sa condition d\u2019homme et de loup et les dangers que cette personnalit\u00e9 provoque sur la jungle. Si la version 2016 de <em>Disney<\/em> nous rend facilement heureux, ce n\u2019est d\u00e9finitivement pas le but du film de Serkis. On pourrait ainsi dire que <em>Disney<\/em> a produit la version enfantine et Serkis la version adulte et plus r\u00e9aliste de la m\u00eame histoire. Cependant, il faut savoir que techniquement les deux films ne sont pas exactement bas\u00e9s sur la m\u00eame histoire puisque \u00ab\u00a0Mowgli\u00a0\u00bb, est inspir\u00e9 de l\u2019ensemble de nouvelles de Kipling intitul\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0All the Mowgli Stories\u00a0\u00bb alors que \u00ab\u00a0Le Livre de la Jungle\u00a0\u00bb est bas\u00e9 sur l\u2019\u0153uvre \u00e9ponyme de Kipling.<\/p><p>Outre cela, ces films se distinguent tous deux par un casting de choix. La version 2016 comporte ainsi Bill Murray (Baloo), Ben Kingsley (Bagheera), Idris Elba (Shere Khan), Scarlett Johansson (Kaa), Lupita Nyong\u2019o (Raksha) et Christopher Walken (King Louie). Mais le casting de \u00ab Mowgli \u00bb est tout aussi impressionnant : Andy Serkis (Baloo), Christian Bale (Bagheera), Benedict Cumberbatch (Shere Khan), Naomie Harris (Nisha), Cate Blanchett (Kaa), Tom Hollander (Tabaqui). De mani\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, quel casting l\u2019emporte ? Aucun, les deux sont de tr\u00e8s grandes qualit\u00e9s tout en \u00e9tant tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rents.<\/p><p>Tout d\u2019abord, Mowgli est interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 respectivement par Neel Sethi et Rohan Chand. Leur r\u00f4le et leur jeu diff\u00e8rent mais chacun a sa place dans leur film respectifs. Concernant Baloo, le personnage est tr\u00e8s chang\u00e9 compar\u00e9 \u00e0 la version <em>Disney<\/em> dont en s\u2019en souvient comme d\u2019un ours qui aime passer ses journ\u00e9es \u00e0 manger et chanter. Ici, il s\u2019agit d\u2019une version beaucoup plus r\u00e9aliste d\u2019un ours. Son r\u00f4le pourrait s\u2019apparenter \u00e0 un sergent instructeur pour la meute de loups. De plus, personnellement j\u2019ai beaucoup appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 le visage d\u2019Andy Serkis qui est parfaitement captur\u00e9 sur Baloo. Ensuite concernant Bagheera, l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation de Kingsley et Bale diff\u00e8re mais sans vrai changement. En revanche Shere Khan a un r\u00f4le plus mena\u00e7ant que combattant dans \u00ab Mowgli \u00bb et la voix de Cumberbatch r\u00e9sonne bien plus inf\u00e2me que celle d\u2019Elba \u00e0 mon go\u00fbt. Le combat final pr\u00e9sent dans \u00ab Le Livre de la Jungle \u00bb est absent de \u00ab Mowgli \u00bb, il n\u2019est pas aussi spectaculaire et th\u00e9\u00e2tral, il est encore une fois plus r\u00e9aliste, mais Mowgli r\u00e9ussit quand m\u00eame en utilisant \u00e0 la fois ses techniques humaines et de la jungle.<\/p><p>Concernant l\u2019histoire donc, \u00ab\u00a0Mowgli\u00a0\u00bb comporte d\u00e9finitivement une intrigue \u00e0 suspense bas\u00e9e sur la peur et les dangers alentours qui donnent une repr\u00e9sentation \u00e0 la fois r\u00e9aliste et plausible de la jungle. De mon point de vue, l\u2019histoire racont\u00e9e dans \u00ab\u00a0Mowgli\u00a0\u00bb est plus int\u00e9ressante que celle du \u00ab\u00a0Livre de la Jungle\u00a0\u00bb de 2016. Mais bien s\u00fbr, si vous \u00eates \u00e0 la recherche d\u2019un film d\u00e9tendant et\/ou avez envie de chantonner \u2018Il en faut peu pour \u00eatre heureux\u2019 mieux vaut alors regarder \u00ab\u00a0Le Livre de la Jungle\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p><p>D\u2019un point de vue un peu plus technique, le <em>CGI<\/em> est assez diff\u00e9rent dans les deux films. Particuli\u00e8rement la <em>Motion Capture<\/em> sur les loups ou encore Baloo. Les loups \u00e9taient probablement mieux faits dans la version de 2016 oscaris\u00e9e pour ses effets visuels, quant \u00e0 Baloo, il s\u2019agit d\u2019un type d\u2019ours tellement diff\u00e9rent que le changement n\u2019est pas g\u00eanant. Quoi qu\u2019il en soit il est important de ramener les quelques petites faiblesses techniques de \u00ab\u00a0Mowgli\u00a0\u00bb \u00e0 une question de budget. Celui de \u00ab\u00a0Mowgli\u00a0\u00bb n\u2019est pas connu pour l\u2019heure mais est tr\u00e8s probablement inf\u00e9rieur au budget que <em>Disney<\/em> donne pour les remakes <em>live-action<\/em> de ses classiques et qui dans le cas du \u00ab\u00a0Livre de la Jungle\u00a0\u00bb \u00e9tait d\u2019environ 175 millions de dollars. It is therefore time to compare the latest film adaptation of Rudyard Kipling&rsquo;s work with his two-year-old brother \u201cThe Jungle Book\u201d, directed by Jon Favreau.<\/p><p>One more remake, again, but why? Yes, one more, but this one is actually quite different. First of all, it should be noted that when Andy Serkis started the project, he didn&rsquo;t know that <em>Disney<\/em> had also started a new remake of \u201cThe Jungle Book\u201d. Both films were then expected to be released in 2016. Finally, after the success of the <em>Disney<\/em> version, <em>Warner<\/em> decided to wait and postponed the release of \u201cMowgli\u201d. It was then postponed several times until it was sold to <em>Netflix<\/em> this year. In any case, it is not an exact remake of the 1967 cartoon. Indeed, Favreau\u2019s \u201cThe Jungle Book\u201d does not change the story and keeps the songs as the main ingredient of the film, the musical side thus remaining a major aspect in the film. On the other hand, \u201cMowgli: legend of the Jungle\u201d does not contain any songs, it is not a musical film, but rather a thriller whose plot revolves a man-cub torn between his condition as a man and a wolf and the dangers that this personality causes on the jungle. If <em>Disney<\/em>\u2019s 2016 version makes us easily happy, that is definitely not the purpose of Serkis&rsquo; film. One could say that <em>Disney<\/em> produced the childish version and Serkis the adult and more realistic version of the same story. However, it should be noted that technically the two films are not exactly based on the same story since \u201cMowgli\u201d, is inspired by Kipling&rsquo;s set of short stories entitled \u201cAll the Mowgli Stories\u201d while \u201cThe Jungle Book\u201d is based on Kipling&rsquo;s eponymous work.<\/p><p>In addition, both films stand out by their five-stars cast. The 2016 version includes Bill Murray (Baloo), Ben Kingsley (Bagheera), Idris Elba (Shere Khan), Scarlett Johansson (Kaa), Lupita Nyong&rsquo;o (Raksha) and Christopher Walken (King Louie). But the cast of Mowgli is just as impressive: Andy Serkis (Baloo), Christian Bale (Bagheera), Benedict Cumberbatch (Shere Khan), Naomie Harris (Nisha), Cate Blanchett (Kaa), Tom Hollander (Tabaqui). Overall, which cast wins then? Neither, both are very talented while being very different at the time.<\/p><p>First, Mowgli is played by Neel Sethi and Rohan Chand respectively. Their role and acting differ, but I\u2019d say they both belong in their respective film. Concerning Baloo, the character is very different from the <em>Disney<\/em> version that we remember as a bear who likes to spend his days eating and singing. This is a much more realistic version of a bear. His role could be similar to that of a drill sergeant for the wolf pack. In addition, personally I really appreciated Andy Serkis&rsquo; face which is perfectly captured on Baloo\u2019s. Then concerning Bagheera, Kingsley and Bale&rsquo;s interpretations differ but without any real change. On the other hand, Shere Khan has a more threatening than fighting role in Mowgli and Cumberbatch&rsquo;s voice sounds much more villainous than Elba&rsquo;s in my opinion. The final fight in the Jungle Book is nowhere to be found in \u201cMowgli\u201d. There is indeed a final confrontation but not as spectacular and theatrical as in \u201cThe Jungle Book\u201d. It is once again more realistic, but Mowgli still succeeds by using both his human and jungle techniques.<\/p><p>Concerning the story then, \u201cMowgli\u201d definitely has a suspenseful plot based on fear and the surrounding dangers that give a realistic and believable representation of the jungle. From my point of view, the story told in \u201cMowgli\u201d is more interesting than the one told in the 2016 \u201cJungle Book\u201d. But of course, if you are looking for a relaxing movie and\/or want to sing \u2018The Bare necessities\u2019 then it is definitely better to watch \u201cThe Jungle Book\u201d.<\/p><p>From a more technical point of view, the CGI is quite different in the two films. Especially the Motion Capture on wolves or Baloo. Wolves were probably best made in the 2016 Oscar-winning version for its visual effects, while Baloo is such a different type of bear that the change is not embarrassing. In any case, it is important to see \u201cMowgli&rsquo;s\u201d few minor technical weaknesses with a budget issue. \u201cMowgli&rsquo;s\u201d budget is not known at the moment but is most likely lower than the budget <em>Disney<\/em> gives for the live-action remakes of its classics, which in the case of \u201cThe Jungle Book\u201d was about $175 million. In the same way the jungle is quite different, it seems denser in \u201cMowgli\u201d, probably also a concern for realism, but here too the difference is not disturbing and brings a necessary diversity between the two films.<\/p><p>If I\u2019d have to give a winner, for me, it would be \u201cMowgli: legend of the Jungle\u201d but obviously each opinion is subjective
