L\u2019entit\u00e9 malfaisante qui terrorisait le Dr Rose Cotter dans l\u2019\u00e9pisode d\u2019origine s\u2019attaque d\u00e9sormais \u00e0 la chanteuse pop-star Skye Riley, ancienne toxicomane sujette \u00e0 des ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes d\u00e9rangeants suite \u00e0 la mort traumatisante (et devant ses yeux) d\u2019une connaissance. Son d\u00e9j\u00e0 difficile retour sur sc\u00e8ne ne se fera donc pas sans cons\u00e9quences\u2026<\/p><p>Si vous n\u2019avez pas vu le premier \u00ab\u00a0Smile\u00a0\u00bb, pas d\u2019inqui\u00e9tude, la sc\u00e8ne d\u2019introduction \u2013 constitu\u00e9e d\u2019un plan-s\u00e9quence d\u2019action millim\u00e9tr\u00e9 et haletant \u2013 fait le pont entre les deux films. Cette mise en bouche permet de rentrer directement dans l\u2019intrigue et de reprendre un fil narratif qui certes ressemble \u00e0 s\u2019y m\u00e9prendre \u00e0 celui du premier long-m\u00e9trage, mais le sublime. Incarn\u00e9e par une brillante Naomi Scott (Aladdin\u00a0; Charlie\u2019s Angels), Skye est un personnage-titre travaill\u00e9, en particulier du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de sa psych\u00e9. L\u2019on ressent ainsi presque physiquement tous les frissons qui la parcourent, mais aussi toutes ses autres \u00e9motions face \u00e0 la pression et face aux autres.<\/p><p>Toutefois, ce qui fait la qualit\u00e9 de \u00ab\u00a0Smile 2\u00a0\u00bb, c\u2019est son aspect surprenant et raffin\u00e9 qui d\u00e9passe son fond pourtant assez conventionnel. Les \u2018<em>jumpscares\u2019<\/em> nous font sursauter, le travail du son est encore plus hypnotique qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019accoutum\u00e9e, et l\u2019horreur monte crescendo \u00e0 mesure que l\u2019angoisse et les troubles s\u2019intensifient. Certaines sc\u00e8nes sont m\u00eame tout bonnement abominables parce que d\u2019un r\u00e9alisme d\u00e9lirant, qu\u2019elles soient explicitement violentes ou non \u2013 car le hors-champ n\u2019est pas tout \u00e0 fait absent\u00a0! Le film regorge d\u2019id\u00e9es inventives tr\u00e8s bien amen\u00e9es (du <em>stalker<\/em> \u00e0 la mar\u00e9e humaine en passant par les spectacles et autres galas) et ces id\u00e9es sont de fait intelligemment et joliment mises en sc\u00e8ne.<\/p><p>Le long-m\u00e9trage se veut donc atrocement g\u00e9nial, avec des chor\u00e9graphies, des chansons, des ruptures sc\u00e9naristiques, des effets sp\u00e9ciaux et m\u00eame des maquillages dignes des plus grands films hollywoodiens, le tout en reposant sur un concept assez basique, mais qui marche. Et l\u00e0 se trouve un b\u00e9mol, en revanche\u00a0: si la fin constitue l\u2019apog\u00e9e de la terreur que transmettent l\u2019intrigue et son h\u00e9ro\u00efne, elle para\u00eet \u00e0 la r\u00e9flexion confuse, rapide, voire incoh\u00e9rente. L\u2019intrigue repose en effet sur de multiples r\u00e9v\u00e9lations et contre-r\u00e9v\u00e9lations qui, \u00e0 juste titre d\u2019ailleurs, nous font douter de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 des \u00e9v\u00e8nements, \u00e0 tel point que la conclusion certes excellente arrive de fa\u00e7on un peu bancale. The evil entity that terrified Dr. Rose Cotter in the previous film now targets pop star Skye Riley, a former drug addict subject to disturbing phenomena following the traumatic death (right in front of her eyes) of someone close to her. Hence, her already difficult return to the stage will not be free of surprises&#8230;<\/p><p>If you haven&rsquo;t seen the first \u201cSmile\u201d, don&rsquo;t worry: the opening scene \u2013 a breathless, meticulous uncut shot \u2013 bridges the gap between the two films. This opening allows us to jump straight into the plot and pick up on a narrative thread that not only bears a striking resemblance to that of the first feature, but enhances it. Played by a brilliant Naomi Scott (Aladdin; Charlie&rsquo;s Angels), Skye is a sophisticated main character, particularly in terms of her psyche. You can almost physically feel all the chills that run through her, but also all her other emotions in the face of pressure and others.<\/p><p>However, the quality of \u201cSmile 2\u201d lies in its surprising and refined aspect, which surpasses its rather conventional content. The jumpscares work very well, the sound design is even more hypnotic than usual, and the horror reaches a crescendo as the anguish and turmoil intensify. Some scenes are downright horrifying because of their delirious realism, whether explicitly violent or not &#8211; as the off-screen is not entirely missing! The film is brimming with inventive ideas (from the stalker to the human tide to the shows and galas), and these ideas are cleverly and beautifully brought to the screen.<\/p><p>It&rsquo;s an excruciatingly brilliant film, with choreography, songs, story breaks, special effects and even make-up worthy of the greatest Hollywood films, all built around a fairly basic concept, but one that really works. There&rsquo;s a downside, however: while the ending is the pinnacle of the terror conveyed by the plot and its heroine, it feels a little confused, rushed and even inconsistent. The plot relies on multiple revelations and counter-revelations which, quite understandably, make us doubt the reality of events, to such an extent that the admittedly excellent conclusion is a little shaky. The fact remains that \u201cSmile 2\u201d will have you screaming, chattering and gnashing your teeth in the moment; then, when you leave the theater, you&rsquo;ll certainly be smiling&#8230;<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Axel Chevalier<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section
